The Unknown Lycan Princess - Chapter 10: Chapter 10

BETH’S POV
Three babies. Three. I am having three babies at one time. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to laugh or cry or do both. I was watching Ethan’s reaction to Marcy’s explanation, trying to see if he had any apprehension about this or if he was having second thoughts about being with me and taking on this responsibility. I was very surprised when his wolf came out and spoke to the doctor. I wasn’t sure what was going on at first until he didn’t call me by my name and called me mate instead. I was shocked by the fierceness of his questions and his worry about me and the babies, or pups as they called them. Marcy printed up a few copies of the ultrasound and handed one to all of us. Ethan was looking at his picture in awe. I couldn’t help but melt a little after watching him.
After I cleaned my stomach from the gel and replaced my clothes to normal I sat up and checked the time on my phone. I was shocked to see that Mom would be getting off for her two-hour break in 15 minutes. I didn’t think it was that late yet, but then again, a lot has happened since we left school after lunch. I thanked Marcy for her time and accepted the prescription for the new vitamins. Mom is going to flip when she hears about the 3rd baby. If it was just me, I don’t know if I would be able to do this on my own. I am so thankful I have all these people around me to help. I never would have expected my day to turn out like it has. It has been one of the best and worst days of my life. If I didn’t have to see that Alicia person again, I would be a very happy person. The way she looked at me like I was the dirt on the bottom of her shoe. She gave me the creeps. Almost like Ashley. Honestly, she looked like Ashley in a way. She just had a different eye color. They were probably related and that wouldn’t surprise me at all if they were.
“Ethan. I need to go home. My mom will be home soon for her break tonight. I need to let her know what is going on. She is going to be shocked when I tell her everything. Especially about how many babies there are now,” I said with a nervous chuckle. Honestly, I wasn’t sure how my mom would react to everything that has happened today. Will she agree with me and my choices or will she try to talk me out of it? Mom has never had an issue with shifters, but my father did. He was down right awful about them. Mom was more sympathetic to them and the prejudices some people had towards them. I never understood why. We all bleed red, I think. We are all people. Shifters are just more special because they have an animal side to them. They will never be lonely because they have their other halves to talk to. I was secretly envious of the shifters. I have always wanted to have an animal form. I think it would be cool to be able to transform into a wolf or another animal or to have my own built-in best friend that I could tell my deepest secrets to without worrying about them telling anyone else.
“Ok. Baby. I can take you home to see your mom. Do you want Jess to come with us to help talk to your mom?” Ethan replied to me. I was so happy that he was always asking my opinion on things and not just making decisions without me. Except, of course, for the healer, but in a way, he was right to have me checked out. I understand his reasoning. I just wished he would have discussed it with me first before just contacting her and blindsiding me.
“No. I think we should be OK. I don’t want to take away any more time from her day.” I responded back to him. Out of the corner of my eye I saw Jess roll her eyes. I couldn’t help turning beet red after she said that we didn’t need an audience for the activities after the conversation with my mom. I was pleasantly surprised to see the blush on Ethan’s face and it was simply adorable and cute. I didn’t know guys blushed.
“Eh-hem. Well, on that note. We will see you guys later on. Are you going to be eating dinner with your mom, Beth, or do you think you guys will come back here? I just want to make sure we don’t have anything made that will send you running for the bathroom again.” Ethan’s mom asked after clearing her throat to alleviate some of the awkwardness from Jess’ comment.
“We’ll probably eat dinner with my mom and talk while we eat if that is OK.” I said nervously. She simply smiled and nodded her head. Gave us each a kiss on our heads and left the room with Arthur and Jess trailing behind her. Marcy had already left a little bit ago.
Ethan grabbed my hand and we started walking to the elevator. I was thankful to see that when we got here. I know eventually I will have to move in with Ethan and that would be hell on me once I started showing more. I did notice that there is a slight swell to my stomach now. That will probably get more pronounced every day since I was carrying triplets. I was lost in my thoughts about the babies the whole way into town from the pack. It was about a thirty minute drive to get back into town, then another ten minute drive to my house. By the time we parked in front of my house, my mom was already getting out of her car. She looked over at us after she heard our doors closing. She looked shocked to see me with a guy, and I didn’t blame her for it, since I have been shy around any guy since my attack and for her to see me holding hands with one would be weird.
“Hi sweety. What’s going on? You have that excited but nervous look to you and who is this handsome young man with you?” Mom asked in a teasing voice.
I just rolled my eyes at her and said, “Mom, this is Ethan. Ethan, this is my mom, Erica Carter.” After they shook hands, we all walked into the house. I dragged Ethan to the living room while I waited for mom to order food and come sit down to rest a bit. After everyone was settled, mom raised her eyebrow at me. Patiently waiting for me to explain what was going
on.
“Ok. So a lot has happened since you dropped me off at school today mom,” I said as she just nodded to indicate I could continue. “You know how we are living near a wolf pack? Well, Ethan is a part of that pack. He also happens to be my mate.” I paused, waiting for the shock to wear off her face. She sat there with her mouth hanging open for a few minutes. Then she closed it and nodded again, indicating for me to continue. I finished explaining about what happened today and what we plan on doing as well as how I had another ultrasound done today and the exciting and shocking news that I was pregnant with triplets. To say she was speechless for a while afterwards was an understatement. She was silent for about thirty minutes before she finally spoke.
“Well, I can’t say that I am not surprised by all of this. I don’t know what is more of a shock though. The mate thing, offspring claiming, or the fact that I am going to be a grandma to three babies at one time. So what does this all mean for my daughter, Ethan? What is she going to have to do for this offspring claiming to take place. Is it going to hurt her or the babies?” My mom said in one breath. Poor Ethan was beet red when she asked about the offspring claiming. In his defense, I was also embarrassed to have to talk to my mom about this. It isn’t something any child wants to talk to their parents about.
“Ummm mom. You really don’t want to know and I don’t want to talk about it with you. It is a private kind of thing.” I said, blushing the whole time while trying to keep as much eye contact with my mom as possible.
“Listen here Elizabeth Anne Carter. If you think I will allow something to happen to you and my grandbabies without me knowing the details and risks, you have another thing coming. You may be 18, but you are still my daughter. I couldn’t protect you from that monster and what he did to you. I will be damned if I let anything else bad happen to you. No offense Ethan. I am not saying you would intentionally hurt my daughter.” Mom kept going on and on and on. I finally had enough and shouted out, “s*x, mom. We have to have s*x a LOT and he has to mark me as his mate every time and the process has to start tonight.”
