Ethan’s POV
Alexi and I left our sleeping mate in our bed. She looked too cute pouting at us when she realized that we weren’t going to join her. I really really wanted to join her in bed, but napping was not what I would want to be doing. It was hard enough resisting my delicious mate when she was in the bath that Alexi and I had run for her. I know Beth has some misgivings about her body since having the pups. She hasn’t said out loud, but I can feel it in our bond that she thinks the few stretch marks from carrying the triplets turns us off of her. Little does she know they have the exact opposite effect.
There is just nothing sexier than a woman who has created life. Speaking of said life, I could hear one of the pups starting to fuss. “I’ve got this one Alexi. You can have the next go round. Why don’t you go help my dad with the Lycans. Just show them around the pack and get them some lunch. By the time you are done doing that I am sure that Beth will be awake and we can take them all to the new property that our Goddesses have so graciously managed to fall in our possessions.”
“Sure. I’ll let you know if something comes up while I am with our guests.” Alexi said as he hightailed his ass right out of here without a second glance.
Huh. That’s odd. He usually fights me on baby duty. I wonder what is going on with him? Oh Well. I have a pup to take care of. I don’t have time to worry about what’s going on with him.
Alexi’s POV
I’m glad Ethan volunteered for baby duty so quickly. I was trying to wrack my brain for an excuse not to have to do it this time. I love my kids and I usually jump at the chance for baby time, but for my mate I will sacrifice baby time for any day. I could feel through our bond that she isn’t feeling as good as she should about herself. I mean come on. Seriously. She just created and gave birth to not just one human being, but three.
I know Beth realizes that there is nothing wrong with her, but I felt as we were laying her down that she thought we didn’t like her body anymore because her body is different after having the triplets. I want to get her something that will make her feel better. Normally I would try to reassure her with words, but I have a feeling that this particular instance is going to require me showing her as well as telling her.
I meet up with Arthut and Lupus with his Lycans in Arthur’s office. Lupus looked at me in confusion and then looked behind me. His frown was an obvious indicator that he wasn’t happy so I said, “Is there something wrong Lupus?”
“Where is Beth? Shouldn’t she be here to show her people around. Protocol mandates that she is the one to introduce her people to these new times and this new place. How can she lead us if she can’t be here for important matters?” Lupus said. I was angry with his train of thoughts.
“Firstly Lupus, my mate just gave birth not long ago to triplets. She is exhausted and she just saved a young she-wolf from being killed before you arrived. So please excuse her if she needed a few hours of downtime to recharge. That girl has not had one chance to stop since she turned eighteen. She did all of the trials while heavily pregnant. So before you decide to judge whether or not she is suitable to rule you and your people because she isn’t here to cater to your pompous ass just remember If it wasn’t for her you would still be stuck in your prison of your OWN making.” I growled out at him. He royally pissed me off talking about my mate like that.
“Well said Alexi, well said. Now if we are done asking unnecessary questions let us show you around the pack some. Then we can have some lunch. I am sure that all parties will be reunited afterwards to go to the new territory for the Lycans.” Arthur said.
Lupus still didn’t seem to be in all that good of a mood, but he kept his mouth shut. I did notice that the other Lycans had looked at him oddly while he was speaking. They didn’t seem to agree with his assessment and that was a good sign to me that it isn’t a group mentality. Just one man who seems to be put out because he is being replaced by a female.
We showed them to the main parts of the pack. The hospital which I noticed a few of the Lycans seemed to be interested in learning more about it. So I made a mental note to ask later. We showed them the parks where there were a lot of young children playing with their mother’s watching over them. I did see some dads out there too. I can’t wait until my kids are old enough to bring them out here to play.
We took them to the center of town and showed them a few of the shops. I made a pit stop at the jewelry store to pick up a necklace that has a large heart to represent Beth, and it has four little hearts to represent all of our children. As I exited the shop I noticed Arthur gave me a nod of approval. It shocked me a bit when he said, “Good man Alexi. I remember when Martha had just had Ethan. She was so upset about her body not being the same. Crazy woman thought I didn’t desire her anymore because of a few marks on her stomach. These women of ours need to be reminded that they are special to us and beautiful especially after they have had children. I am happy to see that my daughter in law is being well looked after.”
I couldn’t help but puff my chest out a little at the compliment from Arthur. Roman was the only father figure I have had in my life that I can remember. It is nice to hear that from another man that I am starting to look up to as a father figure as well. I made a few more stops on our tour gathering some flowers and also a little parcel from a lingerie boutique. If Beth doesn’t think we want her now she will definitely not be feeling that way later this evening.
We decided to stop at a diner for lunch and as we were all sitting down to eat one of the female lycans came up to me and asked, “I couldn’t help but notice that you have gathered gifts for our Queen. Are we permitted to present gifts to our Queen as well? I know that a lot of us would like to thank her for her sacrifices for us, and for freeing us from our prisons.”
I looked at her and then behind her and I noticed that all of the Lycans who have come on this tour are waiting to hear my answer. Well all of them except for Lupus. I really wish he would just get over whatever is going on with him. “You aren’t required to give gifts, but if you would like to then there is nothing to stop you from it. I know Beth isn’t expecting anything from any of you. She is just happy that she could help you all.” I said in answer. I really wasn’t sure what to tell them honestly.
I heard a scoff from Lupus and when I looked at him and raised an eyebrow at him in question he obliged me with an answer. “People don’t just help people without wanting something in return. I don’t believe that Beth isn’t expecting at least SOMETHING in return for her selfless acts.”
Before I could say anything one of the other Lycans beat me to it. “Lord Lupus, what is going on with you today? I haven’t seen you act like this since before we were imprisoned.”
Lupus looked at his fellow lycan and just sighed then said, “I am sorry. I am not myself today. My beast has been going crazy since we have arrived here. I am a little cranky because of it. I mean no disrespect. I should not let my own issues with my beast bleed into my interactions with others. My harsh judgment of Beth is nothing more than a reflection of how I am feeling towards my inner beast. Please accept my apologies on behalf of your mate, our Queen.”
“Why don’t we all get back to the packhouse. My son just linked me saying that he and Beth are there ready to give the tour of the new territory.” Arthur said.
I was curious why Lupus’ beast was acting up so much. I don’t have a wolf or anything, but I can only imagine how it would feel to have one pacing around and going berserk in my head. I imagine it would cause a lot of headaches, both figuratively and literally.
As we approach the packhouse I can see my gorgeous mate standing next to Ethan and in front of her are our babies in a triple stroller with Timberlink standing beside Esmerelda’s side. Beside him is Erica, Sandra, Alexander, Jessica, and Blaze. It didn’t take me long to realize why Lupus’ beast has been going crazy.
“Mate”
“Mate”
Well that could be interesting I said to myself while chuckling.
