Beth’s POV
“Well that explains that.” Arthur said with a chuckle as I watched my mom and Lupus, her new mate walk away. Man that is going to take a bit to get used to. I am happy for them both. I just hope that mom lets him in. I know she has been struggling about the loss of Dimitri. After they disappear inside the packhouse I turn back to Arthur and raise an eyebrow in question.
“Lupus has been out of sorts, so to speak, since he has been in the pack. His beast was going crazy in his mind and making him cranky to say the least. His mate being near would definitely do that to a wolf or lycan.” Arthur explained. I nodded my head because that did make sense. It also explained what Kara was arguing with mom about earlier as well. It all makes sense now.
“So about this date. Where are we going? Who is going to watch the pups? Oh gosh! I don’t know if I have anything to wear. Do I need to dress up?” I started throwing out question after question like word vomit. I didn’t even give them a chance to answer any of the questions before I asked a new one. Oh goddess. I haven’t been on a date in forever. I don’t know if I can call me paying for my ex’s burger and fries when he came into the diner I had worked at while I was working, exactly a date. I was brought out of my thoughts when I felt Alexi’s lips on mine. Effectively shutting me up as I leaned into the kiss.
“That’s better. Now I can answer your questions darling.” Alexi said as he chuckled at my dazed expression. “You will need to wear something comfortable because we will be going on a hike. It is a picnic dinner and you darling need to get upstairs and get ready or we’ll miss the best surprise. Jessica and Sandra are going to watch the pups and I am sure Arthur will sneak up there at some point. You have ten minutes so hurry up.” He pushed me towards the packhouse and gave my butt a quick smack causing me to yelp in surprise and a little more speed into my step.
Harmony was doing circles in my mind, happy that her mates want us to spend time together. I know that it is dumb but ever since the pups have been born I fear that my mates haven’t been as attracted to my new body. Not that I think I look bad or anything. It’s just different. My boobs are bigger and my butt has definitely gotten larger, but I don’t feel those are bad things. My mates however I just don’t know.
I shake those thoughts from my mind as I quickly change into a comfortable pair of cargo pants and a black tank top with a red and black flannel overshirt. Comfortable yet cute. I rushed to put my boots on then ran into the nursery to say goodbye to my babies. I looked into their cribs and placed my hand on each of their little tummies and placed a kiss on their foreheads. When I got to Esmerelda I noticed that she was hotter than her brothers. I checked her temperature with a thermometer and she had a slight fever. I quickly mind link Marcy the pack doctor and said, ‘Marcy, I have a quick question for you. Esmerelda has a bit of a fever. Is it anything to be worried about?’
‘How high is the temperature and is she showing any other symptoms?’ Marcy replied to me right away and straight to the point.
‘It isn’t very high, just at 99.9. She doesn’t seem to be showing any other symptoms.’ I responded back to her.
‘Do the other pups have a fever or is it just Esmerelda?’ She asked.
‘No. It is just Esmerelda. Should I separate her from the boys just in case?’ I am starting to get worried now.
‘I can feel your new mom worries from here. Stop it. She is going to be fine. She doesn’t have any other symptoms. I don’t think you have to separate them, but you can if you would feel more comfortable. If her fever goes any higher or if she is experiencing any other symptoms I will come right away to check on her. Otherwise I will stop by in the morning to give them all a quick once over. Now go and enjoy that date that I heard your mates are taking you on.’ Marcy said and then cut the link.
I brought Esmerelda out into the sitting room. Where there were the cradles for the pups when we were out here. I placed Esmerelda into hers and placed a blanket over her. I let Jessica know to check Esmerelda’s temperature periodically and to link Marcy and myself if it goes any higher.
I walked out of my suite and walked down to the ground floor where I met my mates at the bottom of the stairs already waiting for me. Ethan held a cooler and Alexi was carrying a classic picnic basket even with the blue and checkered blanket to sit on. I walked up to them and gave each a kiss before we headed out of the packhouse.
The hike was beautiful. The wooded path was well used so there weren’t many obstacles in the way for me to trip over. When we finally made it to our destination I was in awe of the view. When we exited the woods we walked into a clearing atop a waterfall that overlooked our packlands. I could even see our castle that was made by the goddesses. We made it just in time to enjoy a quiet meal while enjoying the sun setting slowly in the sky turning it into a mixture of oranges, reds, and pinks.
“Baby, Alexi and I have a gift for you. I will admit Alexi thought of it before me, but it is from the both of us. It is a token of our love for you and our pups. Alexi.” Ethan said and then nodded his head towards Alexi making me turn towards him.
I gasped as I saw the necklace. It was beautiful. A heart to represent me and each of our children. “Darling, you are an amazing person. We love everything about you. Especially the fact that you single handedly created three beautiful human beings in this gorgeous body. We got this for you to show you just that. Also to take advantage of some much needed alone time” He said wiggling his brows at the end causing me to giggle.
I flung myself into his arms and passionately kissed his lips. Soon Ethan joined in and stole my lips away from Alexi not wanting to be left out of the kisses. Soon our clothes were spread in the grass and both of my mates were thrusting in tandem into me giving me an immeasurable amount of pleasure. So lost in our passion that we failed to feel the mindlinks that were trying to push through to us. An oversight we would soon regret.
