Beth’s POV
Just laying in my mates arms after our rather rambunctious love making is simply my heaven. I felt so relaxed and also felt so silly about how I have been feeling about my body. Of course my mates still desired me. We have all just been so busy with everything going on lately. Our precious triplets require a lot of time and energy that leaves us all tired by the end of the day. I wouldn’t change a single thing either. I love my pups and it makes these moments that my mates and I find so much more precious.
I winced as I felt a sharp pain shoot through my mind. “Darling? Are you alright?” Alexi asked with concern, lacing his words.
“Yeah, just a sharp, quick pain in my head. It’s gone now.” I say, but just as I was finished another sharper pain came through causing me to cry out in pain.
“Baby? Alexi, we need to get her to the infirmary now! Something isn’t right.” Ethan said with urgency.
Before I could respond I felt myself blacking out, but I was still conscious. Then the images started to play causing my heart to stop.
A hooded figure picking my precious Esmerelda up. Timberlink stopped them and then went with her with supplies for Esmerelda. The mysterious figure walked behind a tree and shifted into a beautiful white and gray wolf. It came from behind the trees and Timberlink climbed on their back with Esmerelda in the chest carrier. Once he was settled the wolf took off through the woods towards the territory lines.
With a flash Timberlink was running with two babies in his arms being chased by the wolf from earlier. The horror felt when they ran straight to a ravine, trapped. The figure shifted back to a human female.
“We need to go now! Our pups are in danger!” I scream out once the vision completes. I opened up a portal to the office in the packhouse so that I could examine a map of the surrounding areas. “We need to find a ravine close to our territory. A river is running through it. That is where Timberlink and Esmerelda are.” I rushed out.
“There is only one place I can think of like that nearby here. Read my mind baby and find the place so you can get us there. “Ethan said.
I quickly kissed his lips and then placed my hands on either side of his head and delved into his mind finding what I was looking for and it looked just like I saw in my vision. I searched out the directions and then left his mind and released his face. I turned around and noticed that there was a small battalion of warriors waiting to come with us. I quickly opened the portal to the ravine and Ethan and Alexi each grabbed my hand and we walked through with our small army behind us. To say I was shocked to see Roman standing here would be an understatement. How in the hell did he get here before we did? Did he know this was going to happen? My thoughts were running wild in my mind when I noticed the woman from my vision moving towards my pups and I did the first thing I could think about and froze her in her place.
I did not expect Ethan to try and attack the woman. On closer inspection I noticed she was the rogue woman we rescued outside of our borders the other morning. I didn’t sense any hostility from her. Only fear. Something isn’t making sense right now. This woman doesn’t give me the same bad feeling some people do when you just know they are up to no good. She oddly felt like family to me.
To my shock Roman is claiming her as his beloved. This is definitely quite the turn of events. I suggested that we all meet at the office and discuss everything. Once we were settled after I created another portal we got down to business. The story of her life has been nothing but tragic the last few years. How awful for a mate to purposefully cause the miscarriages of his mate. I make a mental note to look into this pack. Something about it is just giving me alarm bells.
Having Piper here we could follow through with this plan of theirs to steal Esmerelda, though I wouldn’t use a real child as bait, but I could glamor a doll to look and feel like a real baby. I could also glamor myself into Simon and bring Piper and the “baby” to the meet up point. Find out exactly where they are staying. Yes. This could really work.
I voice out that I have an idea and the room erupts into angry shouts from the men and Piper agreeing without knowing what I had in mind. Poor Piper doesn’t realize what set Roman off just now. She is left sitting in the chair with her baby in her arms as tears trailed down her face.
“Wh…what just… happened? Did he…did he leave us?” Piper whimpered out.
I quickly jumped out of my seat and gathered her up into my arms to give her some comfort. I try to soothe her with my words but it isn’t helping any. She is distraught especially after the experience she had with her first mate. Roman may be my family, but he is about to get a taste of my wrath for hurting his beloved like this. I look towards Alexi as I notice him walking towards the door.
“Don’t worry darling. I am just going to remind Roman of a few things about having a beloved.” Alexi gritted out and then left the room with Ethan following behind with our pups.
“Wh..what…is…so wrong…with… me… that my ma….mates don’t want me?” Piper cries out. I mindlinked Martha to come into the office and take Anya to get checked out by Marcy. She was in the care of that man for too long. When Martha arrived it took us a few minutes to coax Piper to let her go, but eventually she saw reason when I explained to her that she didn’t want her pup to be affected by her emotions right now.
“Nothing is wrong with you Piper. Men are just stupid sometimes. Roman has been through a lot in his long life. It is his story to tell, but when he does tell you I am sure you will understand that this is a second chance for the both of you.” I try to explain to her.
Ethan and Alexi walk back in shortly after Piper finally stops sobbing. She was wiping her eyes when Roman walked back in. The moment he saw the state Piper was in he was at her side wrapping him up in her arms reassuring her.
“We will leave you two to talk. We will need to come up with a plan quickly. So I suggest you guys talk it out and then go check on Anya with Marcy in the infirmary. We will gather back here in two hours. So make sure you are ready to participate in a leadership capacity and not that of a mate or family member.” I said before walking out grabbing both Ethan and Alexi’s hands on my way out dragging them with me.
“What will we be doing in this time frame baby?” Ethan asked with a suggestive wink.
“Finding out exactly how Piper was able to get Esmerelda out of our apartment with Jessica and Blaze watching our pups. I swear if they were doing something else while they were supposed to be watching my pups I am going to strangle them. “I grit out.
“Oh s**t! I didn’t even think about that.” Ethan and Alexi said at the same time.
