Romans POV
I was on my way to the Blue Moon Wolf pack to see what information that they have on my beloved Esmerelda. I know she isn’t living anymore. I felt it the day she perished. It was the worst pain I had ever had to deal with. I need to know who did this to her so that I can get my revenge. I know my beloved wouldn’t have left me on her own. There was foul play afoot and I will not rest until I found her killers. I also needed to find out where my child went and if they had children. I needed to find my family. Alexi is already trained and ready to take over as my heir if I cannot find my blood relation. I won’t be handing over my title any time soon because I am still in my prime. Though the elders are starting to get onto me about not having a queen by my side. I’ve told them countless times that I would take no one but my beloved Esmerelda as my queen. I think they are finally getting to that point, however my mother is still trying to force women in front of me. Of course they are all from prominent vampire families. Hell she even slipped in a witch or two. Ever since Esmerelda had disappeared my mother has been trying to force the issue of me choosing another. I thought she had loved Esmerelda but I am starting to get the distinct impression that she never cared for her and she is glad that she is gone.
“Your majesty. We will be arriving in approximately 15 minutes. Are you sure these wolves know anything concrete sir? I mean no disrespect but how is it that after 150 years someone is finally coming forward with information that supposedly no one else has been able to find?” Alexi said.
“I don’t know what information they have. Their email just stated that they knew information regarding Esmerelda and her child. That is all I needed to hear to drop everything. Nothing is more important to me. Remember that Alexi, the people will always still be there but your family won’t always be around. Family is the most important thing in this life. Money, power, and other people will come and go, but your family is always there. When you find your beloved you hold onto them with both hands and no matter the problem always work it out. Life is too precious to miss out on the important things.” I said to him, I always felt like I was lecturing him on life, though I wished when I was his age I had been given the same advice and then maybe my Esmerelda would still be with me.
“Yes, my lord, I understand. You know I can’t wait to meet my beloved. I know that she was hand picked for me by the gods and I will not be throwing that gift back in their faces. You have taught me better than that.” Alexi said to me with a smile on his face.
“Your beloved will be very lucky to have you. I am proud of the man you have become Alexi. You and your brother Dimirtri have made me so proud. You both are like the sons I was robbed of. My Esmerelda would have loved you both like her own as I do.” I said then closed my eyes and rested my head on the headrest.
“The Alpha, Arthur Smith and his Beta Duncan will be waiting for us when we arrive. Apparently his heir has something more pressing than to greet the King of Vampires.” I heard Dimitri state with a little more venom than what I would normally like, but I understand his frustration. They are showing disrespect by not being present when I arrive.
“If I remember correctly his heir is still in school so I would assume that the Alpha feels that his heirs education is important which I would have to agree. As important as King Roman is, nothing is more important than a future leader’s education.” Alexi said in return. That right there is the reminder I needed to know I picked the best man to replace me eventually.
“I still think that it is disrespectful. They called us here. Not the other way around.” Dimirtri said with a pout. “Technically they just said that they had information for us and we are the ones that decided to drop everything and come with little to no notice. So in all honesty we should be thankful that they are available to see us on such short notice.” Alexi said.
I kept quiet as they both kept talking. Alexi was handling his older brother quite well. I felt the atmosphere change around us and I knew that we had crossed the border into the wolves territory. Just a few short minutes left. In the last 150 years I have searched this earth for my beloved and couldn’t find her. I have had the best minds, trackers, and witches working on finding anything out and we have yet to come up with anything concrete. I am interested to see if these wolves have come up with anything different than what we have. The car came to a stop.
“We’re here.” Dimitri said.
“Thanks Captain Obvious. We wouldn’t have been able to figure that out without you telling us.” Alexi responded in his usual sarcastic manner.
“Boys, let’s not have a repeat from the last time we were away from home. These wolves are not ready for you two to break their pack with your rough housing. Let’s get this over with. I would like to know if I am killing the ranked members of this pack or not.” I said with a voice that I almost don’t recognize anymore. If Esmerelda could see me now would she be disappointed in what I have become?
When we descend from the vehicle I notice a distinct feeling in the air. It sends a shiver down my spine. I know something big is about to happen. I just feel it. On the stairs of the pack house I see two men and three women standing there waiting to greet us.
“King Roman, it is a great honor to host you at our pack. Please let me introduce my wife and Luna Martha, our daughter Jessica, and my Beta couple Duncan and his wife Maggie. I apologize that my son and his mate could not make it this morning. They went to escort her mother to the pack for our meeting,” Alpha Arthur said.
“It’s quite alright. This is my second in command Dimitri Petrova and this is my heir in training Alexi Petrova. May I ask why your son’s mate’s mother is necessary for this meeting?” I asked curious as to what that woman means in regards to Esmerelda.
“Come let’s go to my office conference room. We can discuss things privately there while we wait for them to get back. They should be here any minute and we can get you somewhat caught up with the information that we have found.” Alpha Arthur said as he showed us the way to the conference room.
“Duncan, can you please pass out the folders that you have put together so that the king can go over the information while we wait on Ethan, Beth, and Erica.” Alpha Arthur said and I grabbed the folder I was handed.
I opened the folder and inside was a picture of my Esmerelda. I scanned through the information in the folder and I was quite surprised with how much is actually in it. None of my people have ever been able to come up with this much information. I wonder how they were able to.
“How long did it take for you to come up with all of this information?” Alexi asked what I was thinking.
“Roughly 48 hours. We didn’t have much time on our hands to waste and this is everything that we found.” Beta Duncan said.
“May I ask why you had so little time and why you were looking up information on my beloved?” I asked with a little more force than I had anticipated.
Just then the door to the conference room opened up and I stood up shocked. As did Dimitri and Alexi. Dimitri and Alexi both said beloved and then turned to stare at each other.
“You did NOT just call my beloved yours.” They both said to each other at the same time. Before either one could land a hit on the other I stood between them and let my aura loose and got them both to stand down.
“Now. One at a time. Dimitri please go to your beloved.” I said with authority in my tone.
I watched Alexi out of the corner of my eye as Dimitri walked up to the older woman. I noticed Alexi let out a breath which means that his beloved is the other female. Who I just noticed is clinging onto the man and she is noticeably with child.
“Alexi, who is your beloved.” I asked even though I knew. I turned to him and I saw the pain on his face. This poor man has waited his whole life for his beloved to see her in the arms of another male. I felt bad for him.
“What is going on here?” The man Alexi’s beloved was clinging to asked.
“Umm. I think that man over there is my mate too,” the girl said quietly.
“What do you mean he is your mate too? Dad, is it possible to have more than one mate?” He asked.
