As I am walking towards where the breach was, I get a funny feeling in the pit of my stomach. It isn’t a bad feeling per se. I’ve never felt this feeling before and my beast isn’t helping any by pacing in my mind like a caged beast. ‘Can’t you feel it you thick headed human. I told you she would come and you just had to get that she-devils scent all over yo..’ I blocked him out before he could finish talking because I am not in the mood to hear him complain again today.
I get closer to the breach and I start picking up different scents, but I am not sure how many people are here because one scent is overshadowing them all. It smells like the air before a rain shower and wild flowers. I check the sky and it doesn’t seem like it is going to rain and I know there are no wild flowers in this part of the abandoned lands. Mainly dead trees and the earth that is parched and looks as if it hasn’t had rain in years. One of the many ways we try to deter people from coming here. The whole lands aren’t like that. They are actually very beautiful and untouched by humans or anyone else. Forests as far as the eye can see with a mountain range in the middle that gives the most beautiful views from the top peaks.
As I get nearer I can hear some voices. Sounds like they are worried about someone being in a place like this in their condition. I can’t help it but my curiosity is piqued. I sneak closer and see a group of six people. I can tell two of them are older, but it looks as if they defer to three of the younger ones for leadership. The last one is a beauty from behind with all the curves in all the right places. I wish she would turn around so that I could see her front and see if her face matches the beauty I see from behind. I feel my beast trying to resurface but I keep him blocked. I move to get closer when I hear and feel a twig snap under my feet and curse myself for such a rookie mistake. I am glad I am alone because my younger brothers would never let me hear the end of this if they ever found out.
Before I can even move to hide myself I feel myself frozen in place. I try to move, but I can’t seem to and it is starting to piss me off. I swear if my beast has found a way to take control of my body like this with him being blocked I will be pissed and won’t shift for a month.Before I could do anything else I saw the young woman that the others were looking to for leadership walk in front of me with her hand held out.
“Who are you and why are you spying on us?” She said in a clear voice with a command behind it with an aura so powerful I have never seen or felt before. She would even put my father’s aura to shame. I look at her more closely and see that her belly is swollen. I am shocked to realize that she is with child. What the hell is she doing here in that kind of condition? Her mate must be out of his goddamn mind to allow a pregnant woman to come into these lands.
Before I could even respond a male with a powerful aura, not as powerful as hers but still damn powerful, says, “My mate asked you a question and you better f*****g answer it.”
“Ethan calm down. Beth can handle this. I know you just want to protect our mate as much as I do, but if you can’t tell she has the situation under control. He doesn’t seem to be able to move any and he is probably trying to figure out why he can’t f*****g move or why there are strangers here. Give the guy a minute.” The other male said.
So she has two mates? That is very interesting. I am just about to say something when I see that beauty I was looking at earlier come walking this way and then she stops and looks up at me with a shocked look and I swear if I wasn’t frozen in place I would probably fall flat on my ass from the shock of the four letter word I thought I would never hear in my life uttered from her lips, “Mate” she says it again at the same time I finally let it register it in my mind.
Before I can even say anything back she gets a pissed off look on her face and I am confused. Before I know what is happening she is in front of me and I feel a sting on my cheek. I register that she has slapped me when she starts going off on me, “Who the hell were you with? I can smell a whores lust all over you.” She says with tears in her eyes. OH s**t! If I was a cartoon character my eyes would probably pop out of my head with how wide I feel them get when she says she can smell Arabella’s lust on me. I can hear my beast laughing in my mind at me. ‘You could have warned me you asshole!’ I said to him.
‘I tried you dickhead. You are the one that didn’t want to hear me say anything when I was saying you shouldn’t have let that she-devil get her scent all over you. I was going to say our mate is going to be pissed and hurt. You better fix this or you can think twice before ever getting your d**k wet again cause I won’t allow you to use it unless it is with our mate.’
I finally find my voice after I hear my mate start sobbing. I try to move but I am still stuck in place and say, “I’m sorry mate.
I didn’t know. I have been waiting for you for a long time. I promise there is no one else but you from now on. Please don’t cry, I can’t stand to see you in pain.” I can’t believe the whimper that sounds from my throat at the end, but what I said is true there is no one else to me now but her. I look to the pregnant woman who I now know is named Beth and say, “Can you please release me so I can console my mate. I will answer all of your questions once I know she is better.” I pleaded with her. It looks like she is really thinking over my request and looks back to my mate and I can tell they are having a mental conversation and I wait with baited breath for her decision. She turns back to me and nods her head.
I feel my control of my body is back and I rush to my mate and pull her into my arms. She is stiff at first but after a second of me whispering sweet nothings in her ear and about how sorry I am she finally hugs me back and takes a biff whiff of my scent and then she snarls and pushes me away again. I am confused until she turns to Beth and asks, “Beth can you please do a spell or something so that other females scent is off of him please,” She begged.
I was stunned at first then a smirk appeared on her face and all of a sudden I felt a s**t ton of ice cold water flowing over me. By the time she is done I am shivering my ass off in this desert-like landscape while the others with them are all laughing their asses off at me. My mate stops laughing when she notices that I am shivering and she gives Beth a look and she just rolls her eyes and says, “fine! I’ll dry him off. I just figured he needed a cold shower to help him cool off,” She just shrugged her shoulders at the end and then waved her hand and I felt like I was going to be blown away by the fierce wind that was blowing around me. I felt like I was inside of a tornado now. What is this woman a witch? She is more powerful than any I have ever seen in our territory.
“Enough Beth.” I hear my mate say to her again.
“Just helping out,” Beth says with a cheeky smile and wink.
My mate comes over to me and takes a sniff and relaxes her shoulders. I didn’t realize she was that tense before. She wraps her arms around me again and I pull her closer to me and hold her tight but not tight enough to hurt her. “What’s your name mate?” I ask her because I want to know all about her.
“Jessica. What’s yours?” She responds back to me.
“Blaze.” I say back to her.
“Ok. Now that we know my sister is ok, answer our questions before I let my wolf out to have his fun with you for making my sister cry.” The man named Ethan said.
“Knock it off Ethan or I will tell Beth about that time at summer camp when you were nine.” Jessica said with a smug smirk on her face while Ethan’s face blanched.
“You swore you would never speak or even THINK about that again,” Ethan whined.
Suddenly we hear laughter ringing out from Beth. She looks like she is about to pass out from how hard she was laughing. When she finally gets herself under control she notices us all staring at her like she was crazy. Well all of us but the older woman who looks amused. The older woman looked like she was going to take pity on us when she said, “Did you guys forget that she can read minds? You basically told her yourself Ethan, and whatever it was it must have been quite amusing.”
I heard a growl and Ethan marched up to Beth. I was about to intervene when I noticed that she was smirking at him so I stayed put but ready to help if needed. She is pregnant for goddesses sake so I won’t let anyone hurt a pregnant woman mate or not, and I don’t know these people from Adam so I want to be careful. Better safe than sorry my ma always says. “Mate. You will forget about what you heard or saw. I don’t need you thinking you are mated to a mama’s boy.” Ethan says, but it doesn’t sound like his voice. It is much deeper. I presume it is his beast speaking. Now I am curious what it was because it sounds quite amusing considering this is an Alpha male.
“Aww Dex, but it’s sweet how much you cried for your mom after hearing the ghost story at the campfire and Jess scared the crap out of you.” She said with a sweet voice that sounded more like she was mocking him.
He growled again before he started to tickle her until she caved and gave in to his demands. It was quite funny and now I understand why he wouldn’t want anyone to know about that. For an Alpha male that is ego suicide to have your mate learn about something like that. Before anyone else could say anything the older man cleared his throat and said, “As amusing as this all is we need to keep moving. Beth you are running out of time. We need to carry on and Link will be missing you three. That poor boy was heartbroken when he learned he couldn’t come with you.”
“You’re right grandpa. Thank you for being the level headed one and keeping us on task. I knew it was a good idea to bring you with us.” Beth smiled sweetly to him.
The older woman burst out laughing and said, “Yeah, and that is why Roman had to threaten you with Ares to make you allow us to come along with you.”
“Whatever grandma.” Beth said with a roll of her eyes, but there was a smile there and I could tell it was all good natured.
I am shocked that she is calling them her grandparents because they don’t look even old enough to be her parents. The other thing I noticed is that she said Ares. I wonder if that is her father? Who would name their child after a god?
As I come out of my thoughts I notice everyone is looking at me now. I must have missed something. ‘They want to know why you were spying on them idiot.’ My beast so kindly said to me.
“Oh. Um,” I say as I scratch the back of my neck and then continue, “I was told by my father to come check out who was coming into our territory and if you were a threat to handle the situation. So what are you doing here? This is not a place I could see people taking a vacation at, so?”
