Alexi’s POV
Ethan was mumbling to himself about traitors to his pack. I wasn’t too sure what he was talking about but I did know that he was pissed about it. I am going to assume that one or more of the rogue wolves attacking us are a part of or were a part of his pack. When I heard that she-wolf yell attack I was ready to end this quickly and get back to Beth. We charged forward and I was surprised to see that none of our side had shifted. I didn’t think anything of it until I saw that we were not faring so well. The dragons have lost a couple of warriors now and still no one is shifting. I decided to mindlink Ethan to find out why he hadn’t yet. “Ethan, why aren’t you shifting?’ I didn’t get a response right away but eventually he linked me back and said, ‘I can’t. There is some kind of a block up. I wish we could have gotten those warriors in here sooner. Hopefully Sandra will think of getting some reinforcements in for us.’
Well s**t. This isn’t good. I doubled my efforts and started tearing into the rogues more as I was looking for that fucker Alfonso. I must have gone through 6 rogues before I spotted Alfonso just standing back a ways watching with that she-wolf that seems to be in charge. I start running that way and Alexander joins me.
“Don’t think you are going to have all the fun by yourself Alexi. I want a piece of my ex-father-in-law. It was partly his fault that I couldn’t be with my Sandra from the beginning and I will make sure he pays for all the suffering my beloved had to endure through the centuries because of him and his b***h of a daughter,” Alexander growled out.
I nodded and let him know that if we could capture at least one of them alive that we could gather some intel on the sect. I just hope they don’t have poison capsules like the rest did. We encountered a couple of rogues on our way. We were about halfway to them when I saw a shadowy figure hiding out in the woods right at the treeline. I looked more closely and I noticed they were chanting something. I assumed this is the reason why our people can’t shift. I decided to let Alexander have Alfonso. I needed to help Ethan and that is by taking out this warlock.
I snuck up behind him and clamped my hand over their mouth to stop their chanting and then linked Ethan to try to shift
now.
‘It worked whatever you did. We should be able to end this quickly now. Blaze is shifting to his dragon and so is Marcus.’ Ethan said back to me.
I was glad that this would be over soon. I have this nagging feeling that something is wrong with Beth. I knock out the warlock and tie him up from strips of cloth I tore from their clothes. I started to drag him back towards the others when I noticed a figure coming from the main area. I was shocked speechless as I watched Erica run over to us. Though her eyes were different. They weren’t the same. She seemed more dangerous now. It took me a minute to realize that she was changed into a vampire, but I sense that there is something else there under the surface. Almost like Beth.
“Ethan! Alexi! Beth needs you. She is in labor! The pups are coming NOW!” Erica yelled at as.
I instantly dropped the warlock and started running towards the main building until Erica told me where to go. Ethan and I reached the small cabin and rushed inside. I noticed that it looks a lot bigger on the inside than it does on the outside. I was about to ask where to go when I heard Beth screaming out. We rushed into the room just in time to hear the cry of a baby. We both stopped right where we were at the door. I don’t think either of us knew what to do right now. I heard the doctor announce that it was a boy.
Beth’s scream knocked me out of my daze and I rushed over to her left side. Ethan must have been the same because he rushed to her right side.
“Beth baby. You are amazing. I love you. You can do this. You already brought one of our sons into this world. You are so strong.” Ethan was cooing to her.
I was about to say something too until I saw Beth grab Ethan by his throat and said, “If you come anywhere near me with that thing again I will cut it off and feed it to you!”
I really wanted to take a step back and was actually about to when Beth turned her angry glare to me. Before she could say anything though another contraction hit and diverted her attention elsewhere. I can only hope that Ethan says something to her again so she focuses on him and not me right now. I dutifully hold her hand and allow her to squeeze the life out of it. I swear I hear at least two bones break.
It wasn’t long until we heard another cry and the doctor announced that it was another boy. I watched as the doctor handed my son to the nurse carefully and watched as the nurse took him over to a warmer to clean him up and check on him. It didn’t take long for Beth to get another contraction. It seemed that this one was coming faster and faster.
“Looks like this one is ready to join their brother. One more big push Beth and you can rest. I promise,” The doctor said. “I.. I can’t…. I can’t do this anymore. I just can’t,” Beth said and started to cry.
I decided this was my time to take one for the team and try to encourage her so I said, “Darling you have done so good. We just need you to push one more time to bring our daughter into the world. You can do it sweetheart. I love you so much. I know you can do this.”
To my surprise Beth just nodded at me and then on the next contraction she bore down and pushed one more time. It didn’t take long for a loud cry to be heard in the room and Beth collapsed back into the bed.
“It’s a girl! Good job Beth. Now we just need to deliver the placenta and you can get cleaned up and rest,” the doctor said.
Ethan and I praised Beth for all the hard work she did, but all Beth was concerned about is that the pups were ok and where her mom was. She wasn’t interested in us at all. I can’t say I blame her. If my mother had come back from the dead and I just pushed three human beings out of my body I would not think about my mates at all.
They delivered the placentas and some of the nurses started to clean Beth up while the others were swaddling our children and bringing them over to us. The nurse that came over to me placed one of our sons in my arms. I noticed that he had a paler complexion than his siblings. I was curious so I took a sniff and was surprised that the vampire scent was strongest on him. I could smell that he was a wolf too, but the vampire side seemed to be more dominant. I looked over to Ethan and he had our other son in his arms.
I walked over to him and decided to see if he was like his brother. I sniffed him and noticed that the wolf side was more dominant in him than the vampire side. I wonder if he will be a lycan or a wolf. I hadn’t noticed Erica in the room until now when I was looking for our little princess. Erica was holding her and she looked like she was in love with her already. I walked over to her to take a look at my daughter and she was the most beautiful baby I had ever seen. She had features similar to Beth, but hers were softer and seemed more delicate than Beth’s. When I went to check to see which side was more dominant on her I was surprised to see that she is definitely more like her mother than anything. I could distinctly smell that she had all sides and there was another that I could not place.
The nurses had finished cleaning Beth up and replacing the bedding on the bed. I walked our son that I was holding over to Beth and placed him in her arms. I said, “Darling, have you thought of what you wanted to name him? He will be the heir for the vampire kingdom seeing as his vampire side is strongest.”
Beth looked like she was in thought and then said, “How about Dimitri Alexander?”
I couldn’t speak. I was trying to fight back tears and as I looked down at my son I thought that was the perfect name for him. “It’s perfect,” Ethan and I said at the same time.
Ethan passed me our son that he was holding so that he could take Dimitri from Beth. I placed him in her arms and said, ” He will be the next heir for the pack. What do you want to name him?”
“I know this is going to bite me in the behind later but what do you think about, Ares Xavier?” Beth asked while looking up at both Ethan and I.
“Great. Just give him an even bigger head than he already has. Just what we need. Now we’ll never get rid of him,” Ethan grumbled and then yelped quickly after rubbing the back of his head. I couldn’t help but start to laugh knowing that Ares heard that and didn’t like it much.
“Boy do you want to have a go at me,” Ares said to Ethan with a scowl.
Ethan to his credit didn’t cower too much from the menacing gaze he was getting. Being duly chastened Ethan decided to change his thoughts and agreed that it was a great strong name.
“Baby, what about our little princess? What is her name?” Ethan asked Beth as he grabbed Ares from Beth and Erica was passing over our daughter to her.
“Esmerelda Marie.” Beth said with a tired smile on her face.
“I am surprised Jessica isn’t trying to get us to name her after her or something,” Ethan said with a chuckle.
We heard Beth gasp out and before we could ask her about it she yelled out, “Oh Goddess! Jessica and Sandra. They were attacked at the ritual building. They are in a room. Jessica had been stabbed repeatedly and I am not sure about Sandra. I think I healed Jessica, but we need to find her and she needs to be checked out by the doctors to make sure her baby is ok. It was awful. She was stabbed in her stomach!” By the time Beth was done explaining I could see that Ethan’s face had turned pale.
Before we could do anything about it though the door burst open and Jessica came running in shouting, “Did I miss it?! Damnit! I missed my niece and nephews being born. Damn that poo dragon. I swear when I get my hands on that b***h she will wish she had never messed with my mate or family!”
