Beth’s POV
To say I was a nervous wreck this morning is an understatement. My pups are only a few days old and here I am leaving them already because of this damn spirit quest. I am thankful though that I have had the babies and I wouldn’t be endangering them on this journey. I just have this bad feeling that won’t go away. I just know that something is going to happen while I am gone. I just wish I knew what it was. It was enough for me to place a protection spell on my pups so that no harm can befall them while I am away.
Ares, Dimitri, and Esmerelda were changed, fed, and put back to bed already and it was time for me to get ready to do this quest. I place the last of the protection spells on my children and their room. There is no way that I am taking any chances with them. I made sure that Ethan and Alexi knew to keep all the kids in the nursery with me. Link didn’t mind it at all. He said that he would protect me and the pups while I was asleep. He is so adorable. He is going to make the best big brother.
“Ok. So we have the expressed milk and formula if we need it. All the pups are protected and then some. Now the only thing left baby is for you to drink this potion that Sandra made and you will be on your way.” Ethan said as he was checking off his mental checklist and pulling me into his arms for an embrace. I stayed there for a minute just basking in his warmth and love.
“Stop hogging her Ethan. It is my turn to say goodbye to my darling.” Alexi said as he yanked me out of Ethan’s grasp much to his annoyance. The pout on his face was enough to make me giggle. Alexi held me for a minute before I was yet again yanked from his arms into the tiny ones of my son Link.
“Yweah. Stop hogging mommy. It’s my twurn.” Link said as he hugged me tightly. I was momentarily overwhelmed with all the love being shared. I may not have gotten a lot of it growing up from anyone other than my mom, but my adult life is full of love and acceptance and I couldn’t be happier about it. Even though there is so much going on right now I would not change anything for the world. I love these people with my whole heart and I know they love me too.
“Ok. The sooner I leave the sooner I can come back. Is there anything else I need to know about this potion Sandra?” I asked her.
She gave me a scowl and looked at me pointedly and said, “How many times do I have to tell you to call me grandma. You are not too big to be placed over my knee to get a spanking you know. Anyway, no there isn’t anything else you need to know. Like I said before this potion is set to work for 24 hours in the mortal realm. Time moves much differently in the Underworld. A day there is only an hour here. So you have plenty of time to complete anything that Sierra may ask of you. Remember your powers will not work there and you will not be able to shift into Harmony either. You are quite literally doing this quest as a mortal spirit. So please be careful and don’t let that fiery attitude you have been growing get the better of you either. Show Hades respect in his kingdom because he has every right to either keep you or kick you out.”
“Alright. I guess let’s do this then. Please watch over them for me.” I whispered the last bit to Sandra as I gave her a hug. I took the vial from her and opened the stopper. I couldn’t help but take a sniff of it and my nose scrunched up. It smelled like old gym socks and piss. My eyes quickly darted to Sandra and she just had a smirk on her face.
“Smells horrible doesn’t it? Maybe next time you will stay out of my head young lady.” She scolded me.
I grimaced because I figured her thoughts were punishment enough. Yuck. Like I really wanted to have that mental image in my head. Isn’t it bad enough that I can’t even look Alexander in the face right now. A shiver of disgust rushed down my spine. I had effectively learned my lesson. Though it isn’t like I was trying to either. My hormones are still all over the place from the triplets and that is making my magic go out of whack a little bit, and when Sandra was thinking so hard on hers and Alexander’s adult play time it was like she was calling out to my magic to listen and see in. I am scarred for life because of that and now she is punishing me with this foul smelling concoction? Rude plain and simple.
I plugged my nose like a child and tipped the vial into my mouth and damn near gagged on the foul taste. I swear it tasted even worse than the smell. I am seriously starting to wonder if she did use dirty gym socks and piss in it just to torture me. Suddenly my head felt light and I was starting to see black so I closed my eyes. I felt my body falling before strong arms grabbed me and laid me down on the couch in the nursery.
I wait a few minutes and then I open my eyes. I don’t think this worked like it was supposed to because I still saw everyone in the room. I sat up and looked around at everyone and they were staring at me too. I was about to say something when Ethan leaned down and went right through me. I was startled and jumped up to see myself laying on the couch still asleep and Ethan placing a kiss on my forehead.
Well I guess it did work. So now what? How in the hell do I get to the Underworld. I didn’t even think to ask about that. I had thought I would just wake up there honestly. I guess not and figured this is why they call it a spirit quest. I left the room and it was quite odd being able to walk through doors without opening them. Though I can’t say I am not enjoying it though until I walked through the wrong door and found Jessica and Blaze going at it in the damn broom closet. Seriously Jess! You couldn’t have made it to your room before doing that? I quickly left that room behind. After an hour of aimlessly walking around and seeing that the staff of this castle have way too much time on their hands if they can take time off of working to screw others. I will be having a serious talk with Roman about this when I get back. That is so uncalled for and there are children in this castle. I would kill them if my little Link ever caught any of these people doing the nasty.
I called out to Ares because I knew he was around here somewhere. “Ares. Get your ass down here now. I need you to help me get to the Underworld.”
