                    Lauretta’s POV
Not only do I love my mother because she keeps to her words, I like her even more because she was a woman of actions. I don’t know how she did it but on that spot, she was able to get Shawn’s address.
We may be poor, with debt hanging on our names but you wouldn’t want to mess with us when it came to finding out information or getting access to exclusive parties.
That was one of the reasons I wasn’t afraid of life. My mom! She always found a way to make things happen for me. I can never imagine a life without her. Yeah, things have been crazy lately but I had Rhoda by my side so I know all would be well. Unlike my mom, I lacked patience and that’s why I act erratic sometimes.
“Is this?!!!!” I couldn’t even complete my statement. My throat went dry the moment the car pulled up in front of the largest and most beautiful mansion I had ever seen.
“This is Shawn’s home?” I whispered to my mom who sat beside me. We both occupied the back seat. My heart raced, filled with jealousy all over again. The fact that Cassie was able to experience the good life before made my stomach churned in anger.
“Yes! According to the source!” My mom whispered. I didn’t need to look at her face to tell that she was as shocked as I was. I could tell from her her voice.
“Cassie been leaving here?” I turned away from the window and took a glance at my mom. “As a maid or what?”
“I hope it’s a maid. That witch doesn’t deserve any good thing.” She said with gritted teeth.
“She's living the life meant for me. No wonder she was all bossy yesterday.” I mumbled.
“This is indeed painful to see. But I won’t rest until she gets thrown out of this house. No one is going to take your place. Not when I’m still alive!”
I trust my mom but at this point, I was filled with so much pain that made it difficult for me to utter any word.
Mom paid the driver, then we got out of the car.
“Why do you look so upset?” Mom whispered beside me as the taxi drove off.
I scoffed, not tearing my eyes away grom the view of the beautiful mansion through the gates. “Cassie is in there? She firsts me to experience a luxury lifestyle. I’m still not over the praises that she got lads night and now this?”
“Come on, look at me baby.” My mom placed her hands on my shoulders and turned me around so I could look into her eyes. “It’s not how far but how well, my darling. I know this is hard for you but I still do not believe this.”
“A man like Shawn has all the money in the world but yet he chose to get married in a gripped way at the cheapest marriage registry, disguised?”
“Something is not adding up and that’s why we are here. To make Cassie speak up. I don’t believe the drama they pulled up yesterday either. And neither do I believe she’s in this place as a wife. She’s probably a maid in disguise. The debt is a lot. There’s no way the Elias are going to let go!”
“She probably knows his secrets, acting as a pretend wife in the public and a maid at home.”
“I don’t care, but she better not fuck him. If she gets pregnant with his baby, I swear I’m going to kill them both!”
“Them?” Mom reiterated.
“Yes! Cassie and the baby.”
“I don’t care if she has to be a pretend wife in the morning and a maid at night. Carrying his child will give her power regardless so that mustn’t happen!”
“Is it silly that I’m not worried about that?”
“I would die if that happened!”
Rhoda shook her head. “I won’t lose you. If there’s anyone that’s to leave this world, then it’s her. You are my life, nothing must go wrong with you.”
“She has been married to different men who has fucked the he’ll out of her. Anyone would be disgusted to have anything to do with her. And if she was fertile, She would have been pregnant with one of those men especially her ex who fucked her almost every day.”
“You’ve got nothing to worry about, my princess. Let’s face why you were here!”
Mom let go of her hand on me and she approached the gate while I followed suit. I was still thinking of how we were going to knock and be heard cos I wasn’t even sure if this gate was one that made sounds, when a well equipped security guard strolled out. He paused before he got to the gate to access our appearance, he said something into the security phone, then came out for us.
Unlike the security in the office, it was as though this dude before us was recruited from the military. Not only was he huge, he had stern looks and was quite intimidating.
“Good day, how many I help you?” His deep voice came through causing me to almost jump on my feet.
Of course my mom, was in front, and about to speak on our behalf.
“I’m Cassie’s mother, Rhoda and this is her Sister, Lauretta. We are here to see her. You will let us in won’t you?”
“Please take your leave!” He said
My heart sank! What the hell! She isn’t even a big deal and they are being shitty possessive about her?
“We can’t see her? She’s our family. She’s my daughter! Why don’t you tell her that we are here before you make your decision to chase us away?” Mom said.
“Take your leave unless you wanna be sued for trespass!”
“Trespass? No, you’re being really ridiculous!” I intervened, making a mental note to fire his ass the moment I become the woman of this mansion.
“We are the in laws to the Elias. You have no right to be this ruly to us!”
Mom was about to say something. Probably to support me, when the noise of a car pulling up got our attention.
It was a Bugatti and a lady in a short blue dress came out of the car.
If I was being honest, her outfit looked really simple for the kind of car she came out of. She approached us with questioning looks.
“Good day, Ma!” The bodyguard greeted.
I frowned, mom stared at her too with curious eyes.
“Hi.” She said to the bodyguard with a small smile.
“How is she related to Shawn and what is she doing here?” My subconscious asked.
“What’s going on here?” The stranger lady directed at the bodyguard.
“Who is she?” My mom asked,
“Isn’t it obvious? One of the people who thinks they can’t steal my husband away from me.” I mumbled.
She frowned, “excuse me?”
“Oh please, do away with the act! You are here to see Shawn and throw yourself at him as one of his mistresses.” My mom said, then turned to me. “See! I told you that there was more to this! Shawn is definitely more complicated than we thought!”
“Me? A mistress?” The stranger lady said as though we were lying against her.
I rolled my eyes and took two steps closer to her. I was almost saying something when the guard spoke.
“They requested to see Madam but I told them to leave!” He answered.
“Madam?” My mom uttered in disbelief, staring at me in confusion.
“Is Cassie aware?” The stranger lady asked.
“Boss says they are aren’t allowed to see her or come close to her.”
“Wait? Two mistresses know about each other?” I couldn’t help but ask.
“Are you related to Shawn?” My mom asked the strange lady, staring in curiosity.
She said nothing, but stared at us in disgust.
“She’s the sister to the boss!” The guard announced. “Please get in. I’ll open the gate for you. He said to her.”
My eyes went wide. “Wait! We thought you were someone else.” I said before she could move an inch.
“Yeah! We didn’t know that Shawn had a sister,.”
“You need to know he has a sister before you treat people well?” She questioned.
“No, please don’t say that. We are looking out for your family but none of you are taking us serious.” Mom said.
“I’m Cassie’s Mother. Your brother married the wrong person. This is his wife!” Mom pointed at me and I nodded. “Cassie is barren. She’s been married several times before. She’s not good enough for your brother.”
“Whet does that have to do with me?” The stranger lady said without a care in the world.
“You don’t care about your brother?” I attacked.
“He has made his decision. He has chosen his woman!” She said without a care in the world.
“You don’t care that your brother got married to a gold digger that would ruin your family?”
“And you are the one having sleepless nights because of that?” She mocked.
Mom and I stared at each other in disbelief.
“She’s a nobody. The daughter of a debtor! How can you all even stand her!!!” At this point I raised my voice, not caring if I was doing too much.
“Aren’t you sisters? If she’s the daughter of a debtor, what does that make you?”
“At least I’m not barren and I can give your brother a child unlike that witch!!! So you should put some respect on my name!” I said in confidence but nothing prepared me for what was about to come next. Shawn’s sister closed the gap between us and her hand landed across my cheek in a flash.
“ What the hell?” I screeched.
She pointed at me. “Don’t you dare disrespect my sister in law!”
She moved away from me and pushed my mom on the forehead, making mommy almost lose her balance.
“So it’s you both? You tried to ruin Cassie’s moment yesterday?”
“Is that what she told you?” I challenged with my hand still against my cheek trying to relieve myself from the pain. I couldn’t believe that Cassie was already doing the reporting thingy, making herself look righteous.
I was almost saying something else but I swallowed painfully due yo the way Shawn’s sister stared at me.
“Let this be the last time you show up here, asking to see my sister in law! But you are free not to heed to my warnings if you wanna see yourself rot behind bars!” She said, then turned to the guard. “If they are not gone in a minute, hand them over to the police!”
