                    Shawn’s pov
“Very crazy set of women!” I mumbled as I made my way over to my desk. Hardly had I taken my seat when my phone buzzed. I reached for it, taking a glance at the caller ID.
“Yes, Dad,” I mumbled, taking a seat on the chair behind me.
“What happened? Why did you almost kill Stella?” The worry in my father’s voice didn’t go unnoticed.
I scoffed, instantly regretting not ending her life. “Is that what she told you?”
“Did you lay a hand on her?” He asked me.
“Are you seriously defending her over your own daughter-in-law?” I challenged my father. “Would you still act like this if that bitch had killed my wife?”
“She said you almost choked her to death. You raised your hands on her. I know I raised you better, Son.”
“Well, there’s a first time for everything. Maybe you should start getting ready to be disappointed from now henceforth! Because the only reason why she is alive is because I remembered you and her Dad are very good friends.”
“Wait, she didn’t tell you what she did that made me hit her? Look, Dad, I had a long day already. I don’t want to talk about Stella. You all wouldn’t let me send her to jail so I thought I would teach her a lesson in my own way. And before you say I went really hard on her, she should have thought about that before causing harm to another man’s wife.”
“Not only did she harm Cassie, but she also had the guts to say trash to her, painting me as a bad person. No, she really went too far and I had to put her in her place.” I rose to my feet, took slow steps towards the window, and tucked a hand in my pocket while the other hand held my phone against my ear.
“I don’t know how much she knows either but she went around digging about Cassie. For someone who’s married with kids, she sure has time on her hands to do crazy stuff just because she’s obsessed with an ex!”
“I honestly do not regret anything I did to her today. She deserved every action.”
“Of course, I would support my family over an outsider. I was just shocked to know such violence went down. You and Stella have known each other since you all were young. Her father isn’t pleased to hear this.”
“Well, to hell with her and every member of her family. She’s lucky there’s no direct evidence of what she did to Cassie, if not, she is going to be in jail by now. And I hope you are not reaching out to me so I could apologize because that’s not going to happen.”
“No, No! I was curious about your actions so I called and I have a feeling Stella told her father some lies that’s why he got furious at me. But let’s not talk about them again. How’s Cassie fairing?”
I let out a quiet sigh, still looking outside the window into the streets. “The doctor said she will be fine.”
“Let me guess! You both are not on good terms. Please don’t tell me you lashed out at her?”
I said nothing, followed by my father’s groan. “You know that having a stable personality will help so much in your marriage right?”
“This is exactly what Stella wants! She’s getting to you both! I don’t know what you’re thinking, but marriage is going to come with its own challenges, and being mad at your partner will only make things worse. Especially now that she needs you more than ever. You should be home looking after her.”
“I’m not mad at her. I just hope I don’t go crazy!”
“What’s wrong?” Dad pushed.
I sighed again, then made my way over to my desk. “Cassie’s stepmom and sister just left here. They said something that messed with my head.”
“You gave them an audience?” Dad said in disbelief.
“And I regret that I did. I was just curious as to why they were here. Out of all the nasty stuff they said, Rhoda made it clear that Cassie’s womb is destroyed and she won’t be able to give me a child so I should divorce her and get married to her step-sister.”
The call went quiet for a couple of seconds.
“That’s sick!” Dad whispered.
“I didn’t get any info regarding that so this might just be a trick to push the step-sister on me.”
“I’ve been mad at Cassie for always thinking low of me and this marriage but I got to know today that it isn’t her fault. These crazy people have messed with her mind emotionally. That’s why she thinks she’s never even good enough to deserve a decent life.”
“And I would be lying if I said their words didn’t get to me either. Especially when I want Cassie to carry my child so badly.”
“I mean, she had been married before so who knows!!!”
“They might be right but I do not trust them a bit. Cassie is your wife. You might want to speak to her about it. And ask yourself if you would still want her even if she is unable to give you what you want!”
“We both know how important it is for you to have a grandson. My heart is with Cassie and it would be perfect if she is its mother. What possible explanation would I give her if another woman births a child for me?”

Cassie’s POV
I was almost shutting my eyes when a soft knock came through on the door.
“Come in,” I mumbled and sat up slowly, resting my back against the headboard, hoping the person on the other end was going to hear me.
The door flung open and it turned out to be someone I wasn’t expecting.
“Hi, sis!” She forced a smile but the worry didn’t go unnoticed in her eyes.
The maid had been so possessive of me today. Kelvin called earlier and here was Kay.
After gently shutting the door behind her, She rushed to my side and sat on the bed, opposite me, staring deeply into my eyes with so much concern.
“Feeling better?” She said, tearing her eyes from my face and taking a glance at the bandage on my wrist.
I nodded slowly.
“Kelvin told me everything. I’m so sorry. See why I hate attending those bitchy parties?”
“Thank you for being here but it’s no one’s fault.”
“You don’t have to blame anyone. She’s going to pay for what she did to you and I hope Shawn doesn’t take it easy on her.”
I couldn’t help with the small smile that crept to my lips. “You and Kelv act like my big siblings. Thank you for looking after me and I deeply apologize if I got you worried.”
“You’ve got nothing to thank me for. I won’t be anywhere else!”
Kay intertwined her hand with my free one and gave it a light squeeze.
“Thank you! I just need to rest some more and I’ll be good as new.”
“Have you had something to eat?” Kay asked, staring at me intently.
“Just little to have my drugs. But Doreen should be here soon with the snacks she……” Hardly was I done with my sentence when a knock came through on the door.
“That must be Doreen!” I mumbled, resting my back deeper against the pillow behind me.
Hardly had Doreen taken three steps in when my stomach churned due to the aroma of the food she was holding. I suddenly felt nauseous and I brought my free hand to cover my mouth, to temporarily prevent myself from throwing up.
