“You think fucking Donald would really give you Shawn? How can you say that when you spent the night reading articles about Shawn and knowing how strong-hearted he is? He hardly changes his mind after making a decision.” Mom said at the top of her voice.
I shrugged, trying to form words. “True! But I can’t just be here and not do anything. We need to prove to Shawn that all we’ve been saying about Cassie is nothing but the truth. So we need some sort of evidence. Evidence that shows she’s promiscuous. That she can’t give birth.” I was saying, then paused; brought my hand to my forehead, and gently massaged my temple. “The thought of Cassie and Shawn fucking makes me wanna kill myself. She can enjoy all the good life in the meantime before she gets kicked out but she better not get pregnant for him.” I warned.
Mom shook her head. “I still don’t want to believe Shawn would sleep with a pig like her.”
“People have sex for different reasons, mama. One partner doesn’t necessarily need to like the other person before it happens. It could be to ease himself. It doesn’t matter how careful Shawn could be, she might want to tie him down with a child.”
“I understand you but you don’t have to get all stressed out about it. Even though there’s a child, we are not going to let it live. We could frame paternity on someone else. Besides, they just got married. It’s too early to think of babies. Cassie is not even that attractive. So if sex happens, I’m sure it’s from a place of disgust and discomfort.”
“She’s just some lucky bitch!” I mumbled.
“I wouldn’t say that. I still believe this is all an act and she’s probably a maid behind closed doors. If she was truly his wife as he made it seem at the event, then the guard should have given us access.”
“I’m still not convinced. That bitch slapped me earlier, remember?”
“I still don’t think she’s Shawn’s sister. If she was, then why wouldn’t there be a word about it?”
“Maybe she’s his cousin or so. If she wasn’t related to him, the guard wouldn’t have respected her and let her in.”
I heaved a deep sigh, then plopped down on the chair beside my mom. “How did Donald get your blessings for his son?”
“I never saw him until our appointment at the registry. We only spoke on the phone where we finalized the details but he introduced himself with a different name and told me about his family and how they intend to repay the debt if Cassie got married to his son.” Mom said, then stared into my eyes. “They really played on my intelligence. I now wish you were there at the registry but I was scared they were going to make you marry that cripple because you are prettier than Cassie.”
“I couldn’t even bring myself to return Donald’s shake. And With Shawn disguised in the wheelchair, they looked so disgusting. I almost couldn’t believe my eyes seeing Donald at the party. He literally went from zero to a hundred.”
“I can’t help but wonder why us? If they’ve got nothing to hide, then they wouldn’t have come in disguise. I mean, how did they know that we were drowning in debt? There’s more to all of this.”
Rhoda’s words got me thinking. “They know something we don’t know. Or did Dad have a relationship with them before he died?”
Mom shook her head. “Not that I know of.”
“That’s why you need to get close to Donald,” I said.
“I will try but it’s not going to be as easy as you think. Before you start making plans, I want you to keep in mind that these people are not dumb. Especially when they know what we don’t.”
I scoffed. “I don’t care. I just want Shawnie. And I think the only way we can have an edge is to paint Cassie to be a gold digger. Perhaps, find out their deepest secrets and put the blame on Cassie as a traitor.”
“Shawnie?” Mom reiterated, with a small smile playing on her lips.
“Oh please, mom. You have no idea the nasty stuff I do with him in my head.”
“I’m just waiting for him to recognize me so that I can execute it all.”
Mom smirked. “I love your braveness tonight. That’s how it should be. Even though things don’t seem to be going quite well now, you shouldn’t lose focus on your end goal.”
I nodded. “Being his wife and the mother of his children. He better put my name on his properties the moment I say I do.”
Mom scoffed. “You still think that’s true?”
“Not just any property. That multibillion shit!!!!”
I heaved a small sigh. “I don’t have the time to start analyzing if that was a prank. I am only manifesting what I want. It is my dream for the longest to become a rich housewife and he better be ready to spoil me!”
Mom smiled, her eyes were on me and were filled with so much pride. “I will pick you to be my daughter all over again.”
I giggled. “I know. But here’s the plan. You are going to act repentant to Donald. As though you are a caring mother to Cassie and you want your place back in her life.”
“He’s a father so I’m sure he understands how it feels to crave love from one’s child. I will also keep trying to see if I can pierce into Shawn’s life. The goal is to find as much information as possible and implicate that bitch!!!!” I said with gritted teeth.

Cassie’s Pov
“Sorry, I couldn’t make it earlier. I had an emergency to attend to. And by the time I called back, Doreen said you were fine.” the doctor said, placing the briefcase on the table close to me. I was tired of staying in the room so I made my way down to the living room after Kay left.
“It’s fine. I knew you were going to check on me this evening so I didn’t budge.” I was seated on a comfy couch so he crouched to my height, carefully grabbed my sprained wrist, and took a careful look. “Do you feel better?”
I nodded. “I did the exercises you recommended. It still hurts a bit but not as much as it did this morning.”
Doctor Eran nodded. “We will do some more exercises before I leave.”
“You threw up despite having almost nothing to eat.”
“I nodded.”
“The smell of the food made me nauseous. It’s probably the drugs.” I explained.
He stared at me as though he didn’t believe my words.
“Apart from the body pains and the nausea, do you have any other symptoms?”
I thought for a while and shook my head.
“Dizziness?” He asked.
“No, but if being tired counts. I guess it's due to the accident yesterday.”
“That’s fine? Do you feel sore?”
“Yes!” I answered immediately.
“Not in the area of the wounds. Perhaps your boobs?”
My eyes went wide. I almost thought the man before me was being disrespectful but then I recalled that he was a doctor and the last thing on his mind was to be a pervert towards me. Eran probably saw my reaction so he slightly changed the topic.
“Sorry if that made you uncomfortable. I will stop with the questions. But when you are fine and well, I would recommend you come to the hospital for tests if the throwing up persists and if you have any other similar symptoms.”
“I will let your husband know!” He added.
“No…..” I voiced out immediately.
