Shawn’s Pov
I arched my brow at Cassie.
“You know what I’m talking about. You are just so proud to admit your mistakes. And No, thank you. I do not want your gifts.”
“You haven’t even seen what’s in there yet.”
“I don’t care.”
“And why would you think I would use sex to cover up my mistakes? You wanted it so bad.”
“And if we are being honest, I had no fault in this morning’s argument. I had planned to work from home but I didn’t want to lose it so I excused myself.”
“I was highly disappointed that you believed that bitch’s statement.”
“With all the time we’ve spent together. It tells me that you don’t trust me. Almost as though you are waiting for me to fall so all your fears would come through.”
“Regardless, I know I shouldn’t have raised my voice at you.”
Cassie folded her arms against her chest. “I don’t care. I don’t want your gifts.”
“You want my cock instead?”
Cassie reached for the pillow by her side and threw it at me. I didn’t dodge so it landed on my face.
“You want to murder me because I’m telling the truth?”
She rolled her eyes at me.
“I don’t know if you take note but I present gifts to you even when we are on good terms.”
I pushed the gift bag to Cassie. “For your quick recovery.”
She stared at the gift bag, then back at me. “Is there anything like that?”
I shrugged. “You are my wife, so I need no one’s permission to spoil you.”
Cassie parted her lips to say something but words failed her. I could see her fighting with her inner self but she eventually gave in. She reached for the bag, dug her hand in, and brought out the item in it.
“An accessory?” She said in disbelief when she brought out a squared flat-shaped box.
“But isn’t it too mu…..”
“Open it.” I interrupted, gesturing for her to do as I’d said.
Cassie obeyed. She stared so long at the beautiful piece in the box and my heart was instantly filled with pride to know that I was getting better at this thing called ‘surprise.’
“But I’ve got necklaces already..”
“I wasn’t joking when I said I want you to build your collection.”
“What’s the essence?” She asked. This time, I could tell it was from a place of curiosity. Especially when she was not used to being this spoiled.
“Having varieties to wear on different occasions, having them as your assets and you can also pass them to our baby girl in the future.”
I saw her freeze at my words.
“It’s okay if you want it for yourself. We can always get our princess her collections.”
“B…but this is a diamond pi…..” I could see the shock in her eyes.
“You like it?” I interrupted.
“It’s beautiful but……”
“Don’t.” I shunned them, knowing she was probably about to complain about the price or why she thinks she doesn’t deserve the beautiful piece.
“Do you want me to put it on you?”
“Shawn!!!” She groaned.
I ignored Cassie, rose to my feet, took the necklace off the box, and wore it on her. Cassie’s hair was in a messy bun so I secured the beautiful piece with no distraction.
I kissed her nape before going back to my seat.
“I smiled and my heart was filled with so much pride. “I’m getting better at this.”
My wife looked down at her neck for a while. Then she reached for her phone, and turned on the front camera, just to see how it looked on her.
Cassie fucking smiled.
She quickly changed her reaction when she saw me, making me chuckle.
“It fits me. I like it and I’m going to keep it.”
“You are not going to share with our daughter?” I teased once more, wanting to know what she had to say.”
“You know how to freak me out, don’t you.” She whispered.
I shook my head. “I’m not trying to scare you either. It’s something we want so we would eventually have to face our reality.”
“We or you?”
“Why are you hesitant about forming a family with me?”
My wife said nothing but continued to stare at me.
“Is there something you are hiding from me?”
“Hiding?” She whispered.
“Yes, sweets. I’m listening.”
She frowned. “Why would you think so?”
“Rhoda and Lauretta were at the office today.”
“Why?” I didn’t fail to see how nervous she became by my statement.
“To tell me to divorce you and get married to your step-sister.”
Cassie tried to hide her sadness but I could see them well in her eyes.
“She said the same to Kayla. I’m sure you know about that?”
“So what’s your decision?” I saw her fiddling with her fingers.
“You think I’m going to dump you and get married to your step-sister?” I asked, staring deeply into her eyes.
Cassie shrugged. “I don’t know what’s on your mind. She said something to Kayla and I know she must have said the same to you.”
“What’s that?” I acted clueless.
“You don’t have to pretend not to know what it’s about.”
“Rhoda definitely mentioned a lot of things so I have no idea what you have in mind.”
Cassie heaved a small sigh.
“You want a child. What if I’m unable to give you any?”
