                    Cassie’s Pov.
Kayla heaved a deep sigh. “I know you’ve got a soft heart and I don't want any of those comments to get to you.”
“Stella is a public figure so she sort of has some nasty fanbase who despise you in an imaginary way already. You don’t need to fill your thoughts with all of that. They don’t know you in person so they can’t tell how good you are.”
“And please, if you are feeling bad about it, just know that they are saying nasty things about Shawn and even members of our family so we are all in this together,” Kelvin spoke, while Shawn didn’t take his eyes off me. He was staring at me with so much concern and at the same time, I could see the anger on his face. It was almost as though he was holding back; trying so much to control his temper.
“Yeah. Our family has been in the public eye for a long time and stuff like this happens once in a while so we are used to these kinds of talks. Sorry, this is happening. But be rest assured that we will do all we can to protect you.” Kay said.
“Thank you for your kind words. I’ll try to stay off my phone.”
“Please don’t try. You have to.” Kay insisted, making me arch my brow in confusion.
“Are the words that bad?”
“It doesn’t matter how bad they are. But little comments here and there can mess with your head. It‘s gonna look like the whole world is against you. I don’t want anything to tamper with your mental health as well as your self-esteem. You and Shawn are in the early years of your marriage. You both don’t deserve to be exposed to cruel situations like this.”
I had no idea why my eyes felt itchy again. I mean, it must be a shock for Kelvin and Kayla to find out that I am the daughter of a debtor but they didn’t treat me any differently.
“And please, don’t you dare think any of this is your fault,” Kelvin spoke.
“Isn’t it?” I sniffled.
“Oh no, Sis. You’ve literally done no harm to anyone.” Kayla interrupted. “Even though Shawn had gotten married to a woman who is not you, there is no guarantee that we wouldn’t be dealing with a situation like this right now. I don’t know how but Stella is going to pay for this. Dad should be ready to let go of his friendship with her Dad because she is definitely going to end up behind bars for what she has done.”
I sighed softly. “So what’s going to happen now?”
“Shawn?” Kelvin called out to him since he had been quiet all through.
“He would usually not respond to situations like this but since you are involved, I can only imagine what is going on in his head,” Kelvin said.
Shawn took his eyes off me and stared at the device in his hand.
“Whatever it is that you have in mind, I hope you do not plan to go over to her to finish what you started earlier today,” Kelvin warned.
“God knows that is what I want. I want her to look into my face and give me instances where I ever raised my hands at her or where she caught me being the cause of Mia’s mental illness. I want her to give some evidence as to why she thinks I married Cassie as a sex slave. I don’t care what you all say, I’m going to give that bitch a piece of my mind before I hand her over to the law.”
“Please don’t.” Kay pleaded. “Just let the law handle it.”
“No,” Shawn said firmly. “She’s going to pay dearly for this.”
“I will reach out to my lawyer after this call. We will be suing Stella for Defamation and claiming 50 billion dollars in damages. Along with a public apology, retracting all of the nonsense she has said.”
“I can overlook the people that made ridiculous statements about me but the ones making nasty comments about my wife, I want them jailed too.”
“50 billion dollars?” I mumbled in disbelief. It was heartwarming to know that Shawn was willing to fight for me till the end but these figures stunned me the most.
“Yeah, too small right?” Kayla added.
My eyes went wide. “You call that too small?”
“This is a big damage, Cassie.” Kelvin starts to explain. “Your husband is worth so much more. His reputation is literally being dragged in the mud, along with the family name, his business, and every other thing he has worked for. He was lied against about being a domestic abuser and human trafficker? No, that’s too much! I think you should make 100 billion dollars. So even though the court is going to cut it down, It wouldn’t be less than 50 billion dollars.”
I swallowed painfully. I have never heard of such figures before. I knew Shawn was rich but never did I guess his worth. I had no idea he was thisss……
“I agree with Kelvin.” Kayla voiced out. “There’s no way she can definitely afford that except she pulled resources with her father and husband. But that is not our business. She will definitely learn her lesson after this.”
“I want silly comments of Cassie taken off the internet.” Shawn mumbled, his eyes glued to the phone.”
“What of yours?” I asked him.
“Forget about me. I need to clear your name.”
“Do you think you might want to have a press conference? Perhaps tomorrow?” Kay suggested.
“Press conference?” I reiterated, staring at Shawn.
“You might want to use that opportunity to introduce her to the world since they do not know about her.”
“No,” Shawn mumbled, staring at me. He probably noticed how uncomfortable I was with the idea.
“Cassie is still recovering. It’s been back-to-back lately. I can’t afford to let her go through any more stress.”
“You are right,” Kay mumbled. “We might as well cancel it and just focus on the apology Stella is going to put up.”
“I will do it alone.”
“Are you sure?” Kelvin asked. “You’ve never done such a thing unless it’s business-related.”
“I know but I don’t think I can afford to keep quiet now. I don’t care what is being said about me. But I need to protect Cassie.”
“No one has the right to think ill of my wife.”

Lauretta’s Pov
“So that debtor’s daughter is the reason why my favorite couples aren’t married to each other? I hope she dies of an incurable sickness, then rots in hell afterward.” I read aloud from my phone after which my mother and I burst into a peal of satisfied laughter over our glasses of champagne.
My mother was seated beside me, scrolling through her phone and enjoying the nasty comments just like I was. I have never felt this much happiness in a while.
“My cousin sighted her at Travous party? Trust me, she looks like a monkey in real life. There’s no way She’s Shawn’s spec. Stella’s right. She’s probably there to suck his cock.” Mom read aloud.
I chuckled, almost choking on my drink. “I hope this night never ends and I hope that bitch can see this and is enjoying the comments just as we are.”
