                    Cassie’s POV
“Coming with you? What for?” I reiterated, staring at my husband intently.
“You were pissed that I’m running off but you don’t feel any better hearing I want you to come with me.”
I scoffed, slightly rolling my eyes. “You don’t need my validation for anything.”
“You were going to come with me anyway. You didn’t wait for me to complete my statement.”
“You are going to be working, so no need,” I mumbled.
“And so?” He said without a care in the world. “Aren’t you curious to see what your husband does for a living and how he does it?”
Shawn’s statement got me thinking. This felt so foreign. It was hard to come to terms with the fact that he was willing to let me into his workspace. He wanted me to be present in every aspect of his life.
“What am I going to do with myself when you are having your meetings?”
“You will sit beside me and observe. Though I can be quite harsh in my meetings and a little bit too serious. We discuss money, we negotiate, so putting up a stern face is essential.”
“Or if you’re not in for it, you will stay back at the hotel while I have my meetings. Or you can choose to explore the city. I’ll get you a tour guide.”
“It’s heartwarming to know your intentions, but I don’t think that will be necessary. I might not be comfortable over there. Besides, I’ve never been out of this country. I think I have a passport, but I’m not sure it’s still valid.”
“You’re fond of disappearing after we spend time together, but since you thought about my welfare on this, then you’re free to go. I’ll just stay back here where I’m comfortable.”
Unfortunately, the ticket is booked, so you have no choice.
I shook my head. “Just go and do your thing.”
“Would you ever be able to pick a side?”
“Huh?” I arched my brow.
“You get pissed if I don’t include you. And when I do, you don’t seem too excited either.” Shawn attacked, and I shrugged in return.
“Maybe I just want to be left alone.” I stared at his hand, which was still holding onto mine.
“Sadly, you just have to deal with me.”
“For a busy man who’s got lots of things to attend to, don’t you think you’re being too clingy?” I said then, bit my inner cheek to stop the smile from escaping my lips. Shawn’s frown at my statement was almost cracking me up.
“Don’t I have the right to be clingy to you?” He asked and I said nothing.
“If I had my way, I would cut down the number of times I report to the office.”
“Please don’t,” I responded immediately.
“You are scared you wouldn’t be able to take your hands off me?”
“Oh, please!” I scoffed. “I should be the one asking you that.”
“I’ve got some level of self-control, unlike you, who loses it anytime you see me.” I challenged him.
“And is that supposed to be my fault?” He said with a small smile at the corner of his lips.
My heart was unintentionally filled with pride. In the beginning, I saw Shawn to be a sex addict. But over time, he proved otherwise. He was the only man who cared about pleasuring me while making love to me. But I don’t think I would ever come to terms with the fact that a man like Shawn was attracted to me.
“There you go again, overthinking every damn thing. Just come here.” Shawn pulled me towards him, and before I knew it, we were in a spooning position once more.
“Shawnnnnn!” I groaned as he intertwined his legs with mine and circled his arms around my waist, caressing my belly. I felt a little bit of discomfort as his dick continued to poke my ass. My nipples were erect and aching. I was also starting to feel some moisture in my pussy.
I mentally facepalmed. I was literally a mess whenever I was around my husband.
Shawn placed a long kiss on the side of my head, causing me to open my eyes. “This is where you belong. By my side.”
Shawn’s hands refused to leave my still flat belly.
“This is going to grow someday.”
I don’t know why but I felt so touched by his words. Kids used to be my last wish. Scrapped that, I never dreamt of having one. I had no idea what it took to be a mother either, and it was so crazy that Shawn was trusting me with such responsibility. Having the Elias’ first grandchild. Shawn’s heir.
“You want me all to yourself, and you want a baby. I don’t think that’s going to work.”
“What do you mean?” He asked, and even without looking at his face, I could tell from his voice that he was confused by my words.
“Babies require so much attention, so you may not be seeing much of me. I don’t have direct experience of this, but that’s what I’ve heard.”
Shawn moved his hands to my chest and caressed my boobs. “Does that mean you’ve agreed to carry our child?”
I rolled my eyes even though he couldn’t see me.
“I hope you know that I can see you.” He said, and I couldn’t help with the blush that crept to my cheeks.
“We are going to have our hands full. Not sure if you are ready for that phase.” I mumbled, not knowing what else to say.
“I’ve been ready since the day I set my eyes on you.”
“My Dad and my brother will take care of the company while I care for the baby with you. I’ve spent all my life working my ass off so it would be cool to take some time off in fulfilling my duties as a father.”
“You sure do have your way with words,” I said, not believing that he had almost convinced me.
I was almost saying something when Shawn’s phone rang. The device was in his jacket. I don’t know how, but he did some stretches and reached for the piece of clothing on the floor, then took the phone out of his pocket.
“Kelvin.” He mumbled before placing the phone on speaker.
“I just sent you a link. She apologised, but there’s still something off about it.” Kev’s voice came through.

Lauretta‘s Pov.
“Why are you doing this to yourself? I already told you to stay off the media.” Mom picked up my phone, then sat beside me on my bed.
“I know things didn’t go the way we want yet but for fucks sake, we need to protect our mental health”
“And can you please stop with the tears? That’s literally all you’ve done all day.”
“Just let me be, Mom.” I sniffled.
“We did all that we could, and guess who still lost? Us!!!!!! We freaking lost that billionaire to Cassie. I wonder what she did to trap the hearts of all members of that family. Not only were we humiliated at Trevous' party, but we were thrown out of Shawn’s office. The encounter with his father was even worse. He hardly listened to what we had to say, and he just knew what to say at every point in time to put us in our place.”
“And to top it all, Shawn’s bitchy ex had the guts to apologise. Do you even know what that means, mama?”
“The hatred everyone has for Cassie would be replaced with love and she fucking addressed that good for nothing slave as ‘Gorgeous’?”
“I thought Billionaires tend to get married to their fellow rich people. Why is Shawn so different? I feel so sad whenever I think of how he spoke about her in that broadcast. I want to believe he doesn’t love her for real. Nothing is seriously adding up.” I brought my hands to the corners of my eyes, gently wiping my tears.
“The alternative plan was for you to get involved with Donald. But guess what? He trashed us as well as our outfits. We lost, Mama. Cassie’s life is going to end in a fairytale while we die in poverty.”
