Shawn’s Pov.
“You don’t have to be so stubborn. I can carry you on my back or in a bridal style. Anyhow, you want it.” I whispered to my wife after I opened the door of the front passenger seat for her.
Cassie tiredly rolled her eyes at me, unbuckling her seat belt at the same time.
I bit my cheek to stop myself from chuckling because I knew I was the cause of her crankiness.
“Just send me back home, then you can head wherever you want.”
I leaned closer to my wife and placed a soft kiss on her lips. “I know you are speaking that way because you’re exhausted. But don’t worry, you will have enough time to rest when we board. Let’s go, we are running late already.” My voice came out more like a plea.
Since she hadn’t consented to me lifting her, I took a few steps back, then stretched out my hand to her to help her down from the car.
Yeah, Cassie and I couldn’t keep our hands off each other throughout the night, so she has hardly had any sleep.
Waking her up to get ready was by far the toughest task I had to carry out.
“I hate you.” She mumbled, taking my hand.
I smiled.
Cassie was out of the car in no time, then I shut the door.
“The car.” She whispered.
“One of the drivers will come for it,” I assured.
“I forgot you have your ways.”
I chuckled, closing the gap with Cassie. “He would have driven us, but I love it when I drive you.”
“I find it weird that the littlest things about me make you excited.”
“You are free to have your opinion, but I cherish every moment with you.”
“There he is.” I gestured towards my driver, who was coming our way.
“Poor staff. I hope he isn’t married. I can’t believe you made me work at this hour.” She said,
I chuckled, taking a glance at Enoch as he approached the trunk of the car and began to take down our boxes.
“He’s used to this because of the nature of my business. It doesn’t matter if he’s married. He is well paid for performing his duties.”
“Why do I feel I am going to regret letting you pack my bag?”
I couldn’t help with the chuckle that escaped my lips. “Someone had to do it since you wouldn’t get up from the bed. You should thank me in advance, though. I think I did a good job.”
“We will see when I unbox.” She mumbled.
“Let’s go.” I intertwined my hand with my wife's and ushered her out of the car park. Enoch was behind us with our luggage.
The airport was calm, and that was exactly what I wanted. The reason why I scheduled our flight for this time is.
I leaned closer to my wife and whispered in her ear, just as we were about to approach the departure section. “You’re limping. My offer to lift you still stands.”
Cassie nudged me immediately, rolling her eyes at me at the same time. I couldn’t help with the chuckle that escaped me.
“Men are gross!” She mumbled, looking away from me. But I could see her try to hide her blush.
“But you were not of that opinion when you were riding me.”
My wife stopped in her tracks and stared at me with wide eyes. “Lower your voice!” She warned.
Cassie’s shyness warmed my heart. She had a gentle look, but she was the best thing I could ever ask for in the room.
With my hand on the small of her back, I ushered my wife to the VIP lounge area. We didn’t stay there for long because it was time to leave.
“What’s happening?” Cassie mumbled as we headed in the direction of the private jet.
“I thought we were travelling like normal people.”
I smiled and glanced at her. “Aren’t we normal people?”
Cassie came to a halt, and I did the same. We were still a couple of steps away, but I could see the entire crew standing outside the jet, waiting to welcome us.
“I thought we were going to be on the plane with other people. I’ve never flown before, so I thought seeing so many people with me would encourage me.” I could see the anxiety in her eyes as she spoke.
“I’m glad I will be sharing this first moment with you. But there’s nothing to be concerned about. The pilot has been flying me since my teenage years. All members of the crew are well-experienced, and you have me to lean on.”
She took a glance at the crew from afar, then back at me. Almost as though she was deciding if she should trust me.
“Then, if you don’t like this, we can always fly with other people on our way back. Though it might be a bit chaotic because of the rumors lately, we should be fine in the business class.”
I honestly can’t recall the last time I flew business, but yeah, anything for my woman.
Cassie said nothing. She still felt starstruck.
“Are you?!” I closed the gap with her when I saw her eyes getting teary.
I held her hand. “Did I say anything to offend you?”
“Please don’t. I don’t want the staff thinking I mistreated my woman. I know I shouldn’t let their thoughts get to me, but how people perceive you means so much to me.”
Cassie sniffled, “I’m not crying. It just feels foreign experiencing things that I never thought I would in my lifetime. I’m trying to go with the flow, but do I really deserve all of this?”
“You do, and I need you to enjoy every bit of it. Whether you like it or not, this has become your reality, and the truth is that you need to adapt.”
“I will try.”
“Good. Ready?” I asked and she nodded.
I placed a kiss on the side of Cassie’s forehead, after which I placed my hand on the small of her back and led her to the jet.
“Welcome, sir. Welcome, ma’am. We are happy to have you on board.” The head hostess greeted.
“Well, you all have been asking after my wife. Here she is. Her name is Cassie. Her first time flying, and it’s up to you all to make it memorable.
“Hiii,” Cassie said shyly. Then they began to introduce themselves one after the other, according to how they stood in a straight line.
Soon enough, we were ushered into the jet. The head hostess, Macy, gave us a tour. I joined in the tour as a guest, because there was no way I was leaving Cassie’s sight.
After the tour, we got settled in our seats, I showed Cassie how to use a seat belt, we were offered drinks, and then it was time to take off.
Since my wife and I were seated side by side, I adjusted the blanket that was covering her legs to her upper body, ignoring the confused look that she was throwing at me. Then I snuck my hand under the blanket.
“Shawn!!!!” She whispered-yelled when she felt my hand on her lower belly. I started caressing and slowly moved my hand up to her chest area.
