Shawn's uncles spoke up, all with expressions of outrage.
To them, the only acceptable family for a marriage alliance with the Ludwig family was the White family. Sophia, raised and educated strictly by the Whites, was cultured, talented, and completely unmatched by someone like Zoe.
As old family friends, both the Ludwig and White families hoped to form a powerful alliance in the future. If they joined forces, no one in Jelonsburg would be able to challenge their dominance.
Joseph's face darkened like a thundercloud. He slammed his palm down on the table with a thunderous crack and roared, "This is outrageous!
"I tolerated Shawn's refusal to come home, even him running off to fight on the battlefield for years—but now he's tangled up with some low-born girl at such a critical time? Is he trying to drive me to an early grave?"
Seeing how furious Joseph had become, Shawn's uncles exchanged glances, then began stoking the fire further.
"Father, you must act quickly!"
"That's right."
"What if she gets pregnant and shows up at our door causing trouble? That would be a disaster!"
Joseph struck his cane hard against the floor, his shrewd, calculating eyes flashing with fury.
"Immediately mobilize all of the Ludwig family's connections to pressure the Evans family!" he commanded. "Those people are shameless, letting their daughter seduce Shawn! Make sure their entire family disappears from Jelonsburg along with that disgraceful girl—and never returns again!"
As soon as Joseph gave the order, the Ludwig family launched a full-scale offensive against the Evans family using all their power across Clusia—from the entertainment industry to finance, real estate, and healthcare.
The Evans family was in no position to compete. In Jelonsburg, the Ludwig family was undeniably the top elite household, while the Evans family was far beneath them in status, relying heavily on Eunice's constant achievements to even gain some recognition.
When this sudden crackdown began, Sean, the head of the Evans Group, was one of the first to realize that the Ludwig family was targeting them—though he had no idea why. Cold sweat broke out across his back.
No family had ever survived in Jelonsburg after being targeted by the Ludwig family. Sean was certain: the Evans family was doomed.
Sean's assistant, who had long maintained secret contact with Eunice, quickly informed her of the crisis.
Upon receiving the news, Eunice immediately began her own investigation. What she uncovered left her completely shaken—Zoe had somehow offended not just one, but both of Jelonsburg's most ancient and powerful families: the White family and the Ludwig family.
Eunice was so shocked she couldn't sit still. Her heart burned with fury.
She thought, 'Zoe, you absolute fool. It's bad enough that you're marching yourself to ruin—how dare you try to drag the rest of us down with you? No. I won't let you destroy everything I've worked for. I'll kill you!'
This time, Eunice was certain: even if their parents and brothers found out she wanted to take down Zoe, they wouldn't stop her. Because what Zoe had done could bring ruin upon the entire Evans family.
"Hello? Doris, you know Sophia White, right? Can you give me her number?" Eunice quickly called her friend Doris and obtained Sophia's phone number.
Once she had it, Eunice wasted no time and dialed Sophia directly.
"Who is this?" Sophia answered while on her way back to the military base.
"Ms. White, this is Eunice Evans," Eunice said smoothly.
"Wow, someone from the Evans family already calling me?" Sophia sneered. "Too bad. No matter what you say, I'm not letting Zoe off the hook."
"Please wait, Ms. White," Eunice said quickly, trying to keep her voice calm. "Don't hang up just yet. I think... we might have a common enemy.
"Truth is, I've never liked Zoe. I've wanted to tear her apart for a long time. And now, I can't believe she had the audacity to try and seduce Mr. Shawn Ludwig.
"So I think, since we both hate Zoe, maybe we can work together."
