Eunice said, "Ms. White, if you don't mind, I'll just say it here. I've already come up with a plan. Not only will it ruin Zoe's reputation but it will make sure she stays away from Shawn."
The party Shawn mentioned came.
Given the Ludwig family's status in Jelonsburg, any event they hosted was a major affair in the city's social scene, and as soon as word got out, it drew the attention of all the prominent families.
Naturally, the most distinguished families had already received their invitations well in advance.
There were also plenty of ordinary families desperate to get in with the Ludwig family. They pulled every string and spent a fortune just to get invitations.
For them, this party was a rare chance to mingle with the upper crust and maybe climb a little higher on the social ladder.
The Evans family was one of those eager hopefuls.
However, the only reason the Evans family managed to get an invitation was because Eunice got it from Sophia. It had nothing to do with their influence.
Still, when the Evans family heard that Eunice had landed the invite all on her own, they were floored. Clara, in particular, couldn't stop praising Eunice.
She said, "Eunice is just incredible. She can get her hands on any invitation.
"Eunice, you have to make a good impression at the Ludwig family's party. Even if you can't catch Shawn's eye, there are plenty of wealthy young men from top families. You have to give it your all. I'm counting on you, my precious girl."
As Clara spoke, Eunice couldn't help but picture Shawn's handsome face in her mind.
Even though she was working with Sophia to go after Zoe, she just couldn't shake her feelings for Shawn.
With that thought, Eunice felt confident. "Don't worry, Mom. I'll do my best."
As the evening drew near and the party hour approached, the sky outside slowly faded into dusk.
Shawn was famous for never showing up at these parties, so no one expected that, right before the Ludwig family's event began, something out of the ordinary would happen.
Clara and Eunice had no intention of bringing Zoe along. The moment they left, Shawn arrived at the entrance of the Evans residence.
He knocked on Zoe's door. "So, my gorgeous lady, are you ready for tonight?"
When Shawn saw Zoe's sleepy face and her casual clothes, he instantly knew she hadn't even started to get dressed.
He frowned slightly.
"Of course, I'm ready," Zoe replied with a shrug and a playful smile.
Shawn could tell she was lying. Instead of taking Zoe straight to the party, Shawn brought her to one of Clusia's top styling studios.
"Give her VIP treatment and bill everything to my account," Shawn instructed in a low voice.
"Sure, Mr. Ludwig." The makeup team was stunned when they saw Shawn, who never brought a woman anywhere, actually bringing a date to the party tonight.
For a moment, the whole team was in shock. After all, Shawn had never attended these parties before, let alone bringing a woman. He had never even been seen with one.
They immediately realized how much Zoe meant to Shawn. One of the stylists quickly stepped forward and said respectfully, "Miss, please come with me. I'll help you with your makeup and dress."
Since Shawn was paying, Zoe figured she might as well enjoy the pampering. She shrugged and followed the team to the dressing room.
A long time passed.
Shawn had an incredibly good temperament. Stripped of his "legendary warrior" title, he seemed just like an ordinary man waiting for his girlfriend to get ready but without even a trace of impatience.
He just sat quietly on the couch, saying nothing, waiting until the curtain at the dressing area was finally pulled back.
The stylist said with excitement, "Mr. Ludwig, everything's ready. Your partner is gorgeous. I barely put on any makeup, and she already looks stunning."
Hearing that, Shawn looked up.
He always knew Zoe was beautiful, so he didn't pay much attention to the stylist's flattery. However, when he saw Zoe's makeup and look, he was still impressed.
Zoe was wearing a black velvet gown. The dress, with its classic mermaid cut, draped smoothly along her sides, perfectly outlining her curves. It was so flawless that it left no room for imperfection.
Her hair was pinned up at the back, with a hint of carefree elegance. Her delicately made-up face was cute and refined, and a touch of lip gloss added a perfect blend of innocence and allure.
She flashed a seductive smile. Honestly, any man who saw her at that moment would have found it impossible not to be captivated.
As Shawn's eyes grew even more intense, a wild, almost domineering look flashed through them.
Right then, Zoe did something even bolder.
Zoe smiled, and the next second, she suddenly bent down, grabbed the hem of her dress, and, without a word, ripped it up the side in one swift motion.
That single move turned the black velvet gown into something else entirely—the tear ran up to her thigh, showing off the smooth lines of her leg.
What was once an ordinary gown now had a mermaid cut with a daring slit. Zoe's bold move instantly elevated her charm to an entirely new level.
Shawn was stunned, and there was a flicker of displeasure in his eyes.
"Mr. Ludwig, do you like how I'm dressed?" Zoe shot Shawn a playful wink, her tone full of mischief.
Shawn's voice was low and serious. "No. It's too short."
If any other guy dared to look at her perfect figure, Shawn was pretty sure he would gouge their eyes out himself.
Before Zoe could react, Shawn draped his suit jacket over her shoulders, covering up her tempting curves.
"That's better," he said, looking a bit more satisfied.
As soon as Shawn finished speaking, he slipped his arm around Zoe's waist and pulled her close as they left the studio.
Zoe's first thought when she saw Shawn's sudden move was simple. Fierce animals always left their scent on their prey to claim ownership.
Before Zoe could even process what was happening, Shawn had already whisked her away to the Ludwig family's party.
The studio was just upstairs on the second floor, so by the time they made their way down, most of the guests had already arrived.
"Be careful," Shawn said.
Standing at the top of the stairs, Zoe seemed a little out of it. She still couldn't figure out what Shawn really wanted from her.
As she started down, she took a step a bit too wide, and the slit in her dress brushed past Shawn's suit jacket. She nearly had a wardrobe malfunction.
Shawn reacted quickly. Right in front of everyone, he wrapped an arm around her waist and, without hesitation, carried her up.
