Eunice grinned smugly and said, "I have to thank you for bringing back these colorless and tasteless pills from overseas, Ms. White. Otherwise, with how cautious Zoe is, she'd never fall for it if she sensed even the slightest thing was off."
Sophia said, "What a waste. If we had known she was this easy to fool, we should have just fed her with poison and killed her."
"We can't do that." Eunice shot back quickly. "If she dies, there's no way we can wash our hands of it.
"Ms. White, don't forget you still need to keep up your image in front of Shawn. You can't afford to be tied to murder."
Sophia glanced at Eunice, surprised by how ruthless she was. "You really are vicious even to your own sister, but I have to say, I kind of like it."
The two of them shared a sly laugh.
Eunice said, "Relax, Ms. White. There are more than a dozen men waiting for her in that room right now. All we have to do is wait until it's over, and then bring our people in."
However, Sophia impatiently raised her hand, cutting Eunice off. "No, that's not enough. I'm still worried."
Eunice paused and said, "They've already taken her away. What are you still worried about?" She honestly thought Sophia was being overly cautious.
Sophia insisted and said, "Didn't you say that Zoe is smart? What if something goes wrong again?
"If she runs to Shawn and tells him, he'll get to the bottom of it no matter what. Anyway, I'm not comfortable with it. Just go check on her."
With Sophia putting on the pressure, even if Eunice didn't like it, she had no choice but to go along without a word of complaint. She nodded slightly. "Fine, I'll take a look right now."
Eunice wandered around for quite a while before she finally found the room they prepared ahead of time. Judging by the time, the dozen or so men she hired should be arriving any minute now.
She wanted to grab a bunch of beggars off the street to do this, but that didn't work out. She had to settle for a group of burly men instead. She felt that Zoe wasn't even worth all of this.
With that thought, Eunice arrived at the door. She hesitated for a couple of seconds, raised her hand, and knocked three times.
The door swung open soon.
Eunice naturally assumed the people inside were just left behind to keep an eye on Zoe. It was a precaution before the men she hired showed up.
As Eunice walked in, she asked, "How's it going? Did she really pass out?"
However, just as Eunice took several steps inside, she suddenly felt a heavy blow to the back of her head. A wave of dizziness crashed over her, and the next second, she blacked out and fell to the ground.
Right before Eunice lost consciousness, she managed to catch a glimpse of the bed, only to find there was no sign of Zoe at all.
Behind the door, arms crossed, Zoe looked down at Eunice with a wicked, chilling smile.
Just one look from her was enough to make the two men cowering in the corner exchange terrified glances, shivering as if they had just survived a nightmare.
They were shaking so badly, even their legs and, well, everything else, were trembling from fear.
Zoe raised an eyebrow and crooked her finger at them. "Come here. You know what I want you to do, right?"
The two men scrambled to their feet and hurried over, quickly putting Eunice on the bed and stripping off her clothes. By the time they finished, Zoe had already left the room.
After all, as the legendary mercenary queen "Firefox", she wouldn't possibly be knocked out by a single glass of water from Eunice.
Sure, the drug concentration in that glass was strong, but for someone who spent years in the darkest corners of the world, constantly facing poison threats, and had even completed 199 poison resistance experiments herself, it was nothing.
She had long built up immunity to most poisons, and that so-called drugged drink was no different from plain water to her.
It didn't affect her at all. In fact, from the very beginning, she had only been pretending. The reason those two men followed her orders without question was simple—her fists spoke a language they understood all too well.
