The racer from another country thought, 'Does she think she can take first place? Just her, all by herself, dragging the entire Clusia racing scene to the top spot internationally? What a joke.'
As soon as Zoe finished talking, they burst out laughing.
"What's Zoe even saying? She must go crazy!"
"With Clusia's racing skills, you think you can get first place? Just because of you? That's ridiculous!"
"Do you think you are the Fox? If you could lift Clusia's racers to first place, anyone could. Don't be so naive."
They all burst into laughter.
The racer who was laughing the hardest pointed at himself and grinned at Zoe. "Do you know who I am?"
Before Zoe could answer, another racer exaggeratedly introduced Daniel, "That's Daniel, vice president of Worlaria International Racing Association. He is always in the top three in every international race. Once Fox retires, Daniel will be the Ruler of the track and the next champion."
He shouted, "So, are you scared yet?"
Daniel was the leader of this group. He relished the praise, holding his chin high and savoring every moment. He looked down at Zoe, who was a good two heads shorter, and sneered, "Go back to your country before you embarrass yourself any further."
Suddenly, Daniel raised his hand and jabbed a finger right in front of Zoe's forehead. He leaned in, his voice dropping to a menacing whisper. "Otherwise, don't blame me if I'm ruthless on the track. I might let you not leave the racetrack alive."
It wasn't just empty talk. If Daniel wanted to cause an accident on purpose, it was nothing out of the ordinary.
If someone died on the track, for whatever reason, it was considered bad luck. Last year, Daniel deliberately rammed and killed a Clusian racer; no one from Clusia had been able to do anything about it.
Just as Daniel spat out his threats, everyone there was sure Zoe would turn pale with fear and run away with Henry and the rest of her team.
But then, something happened that no one could have predicted. Zoe suddenly raised her hand. Three sharp sounds of a crackling echoed through the air as Daniel let out a blood-curdling scream.
Her eyes went ice-cold. Zoe grabbed Daniel's outstretched hand and, right in front of everyone, bent his middle finger so far back it was completely deformed.
What made everyone feel even more horrified was Daniel's broken finger, which was completely severed, with the bones shattered and impossible to reattach, leaving only a flap of skin hanging back and forth on his finger.
Visually, it was a direct assault. Shock, astonishment, and bewilderment surged through the minds of everyone present, leaving the entire audience completely dumbfounded.
No one could have imagined that Zoe, two heads shorter than Daniel, could have the strength to snap a grown man's finger like that. And the craziest was that she did it to Daniel.
Daniel, the terror of the racetrack, would make anyone who crossed him pay dearly with the dirtiest tricks imaginable.
No, it wasn't just the person who suffered. Sometimes, even their whole country would get dragged into it because of Daniel.
As the shock wore off, people started glancing at Zoe and Henry's team from Clusia with barely concealed delight, already imagining the disaster of hitting them.
After all, Zoe had just broken Daniel's finger. Given how fierce he was, everyone knew he'd let Zoe die and not leave the track alive. They could already see her tragic ending coming.
"Damn it, shit!" Daniel screamed, clutching his finger in agony, his furious gaze fixed on Zoe.
Racers were naturally more resilient than most people and were used to getting hurt on the track, whether in an accident or a minor scrape. Even so, the pain of a broken finger was almost unbearable. But Daniel still managed to glare at Zoe.
Daniel shouted, "Shit! You bitch! How dare you break my finger? Do you know how much this finger is worth?
"No amount of money can make up for what you've done to me. I swear I'll make sure you and your teammates die on the track, full of regret, and I won't pay the price to do it!"
After saying that, Daniel left with the other racers, not giving Zoe a chance to respond.
After Daniel said that, every Clusia racer's face fell, and Henry's expression became gloomy.
"Zoe, do you know who you just offended?"
"Henry, why didn't you stop her? Zoe offended Daniel. Do you even know who he is? He's not just some racing hotshot; he's also the son of Yaniston's biggest arms dealer."
"Racing is just a hobby for him. I heard he's way more dangerous in the underground market. When it comes to killing, he's ruthless. If he decides to go after Zoe, she's in serious trouble."
"Zoe, you're done for it. He could kill you."
The other Clusia racers all looked terrified. By the end, no one dared say another word; the consequences were just too horrifying to imagine.
Zoe couldn't care less about everyone's worries. She glanced down, her voice cold, clearly baffled by Henry and the others' concern. "He's just the son of an arms dealer from Yaniston. If he tries to kill me on the track, I'll take him out first."
As soon as she finished, one of the Clusia racers, who was already scared of Zoe, quickly waved his hands and pleaded, "Zoe, please stop talking like that."
Henry chimed in, "Daniel isn't simple. He's real trouble, way more dangerous than you think, Zoe. But things have happened. We'll have to deal with it.
"Let's drop it and rest so we can properly face the race ahead."
Everyone finished checking in and got ready for tomorrow's race. But everyone felt stressed. Because of Zoe's move, they knew this was about to become an international survival race unlike any other.
