Sophia had just told her bodyguard to buy the tickets when Eunice called again.
"What do you want now?" Sophia snapped, her mood already bad. Just thinking about Eunice being Zoe's sister made her even more blunt.
Eunice said, "I can't go to Yaniston with you—my family's put me on lockdown. But I'm dying to see Zoe get what's coming to her, so if you hear anything new, please message me."
"I'll call you. Bye."
In Yaniston, Zoe refused all the reporters, not answering any questions about who she really was or the rumors. Whenever they asked if she was Fox, she just ignored them.
This made the reporters, the Clusian Racing Association members, Daniel, Brady, and others all nervous, looking for answers.
Finally, Zoe spoke up. No matter how sure Paul was, she just told the crowd, "I'm not Fox. You got the wrong person."
With that, she slipped away in the chaos, moving so fast no one could catch her.
Henry finally stepped forward, facing the stubborn crowd of reporters. "Sorry, but Zoe really isn't Fox. You've all got it wrong. Please, everyone, go out."
Whether Zoe was Fox or not, this was the best way to handle the press. Otherwise, the reporters would stick to them like glue—impossible to shake off. All the media wanted was a big story, after all.
But even after Henry's words, the reporters didn't leave. More journalists who heard the news rushed in from outside.
Henry let out a long sigh and rubbed his forehead. He turned to his teammates and said, "Go after Zoe. Try to get her back to her room. Looks like we're not leaving today."
The hotel lobby was already full, making it hard to get out. For everyone's safety, Henry decided to stay with the team.
Zoe had just gotten back to her room and hadn't even sat down when a loud male voice came from outside the door. "Let me see her!" That was Brady.
As a big Fox fan, Brady refused to let any chance slip by. He had tried his best before to find out who his idol really was, but all his efforts failed.
Whether Zoe was Fox or not, he had to find out for sure. He remembered how rude he had been to Zoe, and that made Brady feel bad and angry at himself. If she was Fox, he might've already pissed her off.
"Damn it! That Clusian bitch thinks she can act all high and mighty in front of me? Who does she think she is?" Daniel had already stormed out of the hotel, shouting in anger.
He was nothing like Brady. Daniel wasn't a fanboy of Fox—he loved racing and wanted to win more than anything.
If someone tried to steal his victory, they had to die.
Daniel said, "I was actually thinking about not killing you, but if you're really Fox, you deserve to die even more.
"If I want to rule the racing world without any rivals, you have to go."
Fueled by anger, Daniel grabbed his phone from his bodyguards and dialed a number. The call was answered quickly. A cold, rough voice said, "Happy to help."
Daniel said, "I did you a big favor last time. Now I need you to return it."
"Go ahead."
"I want you to kill for me."
"What's the price?"
"I'll pay you a lot. You know me—money's never a problem."
"Deal."
Daniel saved a photo of Zoe from the internet, marked her as the target, and sent it to an email address. He also sent 15 million as a deposit.
He texted: [Here's the deposit. I've also sent her location. Kill her, and you'll get your full pay when it's done.]
The reply came back almost right away: [Received.]
Daniel's lips curled into a cold, sneaky smile. He thought, 'Zoe, just because you are Fox and drive really well, you're untouchable?
'Sure, you're good on the track. But off the track, you're nothing. You're still going to end up dead.'
Sophia rushed to Yaniston, and as soon as her plane landed, she reached out to a friend there to help find info on Zoe.
On her way to her hotel, Sophia got a call back from her friend. She asked nervously, "Jenny, any updates on what I asked you to look into?"
Jenny said, "Zoe is staying at a hotel right now. As for Shawn, I didn't see him. Honestly, all you Clusians look the same to me, so I can't tell if Shawn is with her or not."
Sophia frowned. "Are there a lot of Clusian men around her?"
"Yeah, quite a few," Jenny answered.
Sophia pressed, "Jenny, did you find out anything else?"
Jenny perked up. "Actually, yes! I got a hot tip from my family's intel team. A guy just hired killers from the underworld—they're planning to kill Zoe."
Sophia almost laughed out loud. She thought, 'Wow, Zoe has managed to upset someone this fast.'
She quickly asked, "Who did she offend?"
Jenny said, "Daniel. He's the son of Yaniston's top arms dealer."
They were both after Zoe. Sophia thought, 'Since I'm new to Yaniston, it'd be hard to deal with Zoe alone.
'But now, with a possible ally, how can I not use him?'
Sophia immediately asked, "Jenny, do you know Daniel or have his contact info?"
Jenny said, "Of course. Daniel loves partying at nightclubs. If you want to meet him, I can introduce you."
Sophia smiled. "Great. Send me his contact—I'll reach out myself."
When Sophia called Daniel, he was still pacing outside Zoe's hotel.
Even though it was a strange number, Daniel answered—he had just hired killers, so maybe one of the killers was calling.
But to his surprise, it was a woman's voice.
Hearing it was a woman, Daniel sounded a little annoyed. "Who are you?"
Sophia said, "I heard you're after Zoe. Coincidentally, she's someone I want to deal with, too. How about we team up?"
Daniel wasn't stupid. Worried she was trying to use him, he said, "You want to team up but won't even show your face. Why should I trust you?"
Sophia said, "I get why you're suspicious, but I can give you info on Zoe. You have nothing to lose."
"Speak."
"I know you hired killers to go after Zoe. She's not a normal woman. She's skilled. Regular mercenaries or killers probably won't cut it. You need a better plan."
Daniel scoffed, "Please, how tough can a woman really be?"
"You might not know this, but she once made someone mad enough to send a top-ranked international mercenary after her. She ended up killing the killer instead."
At that, Daniel couldn't stay calm anymore. His face darkened. "Looks like I should thank you for the warning. Fine, we'll work together."
Daniel added, "I know even the top killers in Clusian suck. I already set the trap this time. She's definitely dead."
