Fueled by Daniel's words, the assassin's attacks on Zoe became even more vicious and crazy—he clearly wanted to finish her quickly and kill her right there.
With a confident grin, he suddenly shot straight at Zoe's chest.
But Zoe moved aside easily. The bullet that should've hit her heart hit the window of a car, breaking into pieces and sending glass flying everywhere.
Zoe lunged forward, grabbed the assassin's hand—the one holding the military dagger—and bent it back with a loud snap. Then she kicked him hard in the chest.
The assassin hit the ground hard under Zoe's attack. As he tried to get back up, a dagger flew straight at his face.
In perfect sync with Zoe's earlier move, the blade went right into the assassin's throat. Blood sprayed everywhere, and the assassin dropped dead instantly.
Daniel and Sophia, standing not far away, were totally stunned. They just couldn't believe it. That assassin, supposed to be in the top ten in the world, was killed by Zoe.
This assassin was way better than Caesar, who was only ranked 108th on the mercenary list. He was top-level, and yet, he still ended up dead.
It wasn't just Daniel who was speechless; even Sophia, hiding in the back, was so shocked she couldn't close her mouth.
She had heard from Eunice that Zoe was impressive, but she never thought Zoe could actually take out a top-ten assassin.
She wondered, 'How could a small town girl do that?'
Zoe was like a goddess of death. Zoe pulled the blade from the assassin's throat and wiped it clean with cold decisiveness. Then she turned with that cold, commanding look. Sophia couldn't stop shaking, frozen in fear and shock.
Sophia rushed over to Daniel, her voice low and sharp with frustration. "Daniel, now what? Even a top ten assassin couldn't beat her!" Sophia was so nervous that she was almost crying.
Daniel's face was grim. He had thought hiring a famous assassin from the international rankings would make it easy to beat Zoe.
But reality hit him hard. Still, Daniel forced himself to stay calm. "Don't freak out. That was just the start. I have a backup plan ready," he said, trying to sound confident.
Daniel's eyes turned cold and threatening. Suddenly, he shouted, "All of you, get out here! Kill her. Whoever kills her gets ten times the reward."
Right after he said that, a huge car door flew through the air, swung by a big guy who just appeared from behind. He charged in, swinging the car door straight at Zoe.
Zoe's eyes flashed red, cold and angry. She didn't say anything, but her fierce look showed she was about to lose her temper.
Zoe didn't dodge. As the big car door flew toward her, she stomped her foot and kicked it hard, sending it spinning right back at him.
Right in front of everyone, the door spun through the air and hit the muscular guy, who couldn't dodge in time and took the full hit.
He stumbled back, only stopping when about a dozen tough men behind him caught him and kept him standing.
The muscular man and the group of strong men with him suddenly made a low, mocking laugh. It was obvious—they were Daniel's backup.
When Daniel saw them arrive, he finally let out a big sigh of relief and shouted, "Hurry up! Kill her. Kill her now."
The group moved closer, surrounding Zoe and making her look all alone in the middle.
Seeing Zoe just standing there, Daniel thought she was scared and loudly yelled, "Zoe, you've got some skills and guts, but do you even know who these guys are?
"They're not like those losers from before. These are the best mercenaries and killers ranked worldwide—top six, top eight, top nine, and there's even one in the top three!
"There are over a dozen of them—the top elite team in the world. Zoe, you're just a weak girl. Against a team like this? You're done for."
Daniel's shouting got louder and louder. He yelled at the group of killers, acting all proud. "What are you all waiting for? Get moving! Kill her."
This was the strongest force Daniel could gather. If he weren't the son of a big arms dealer from Yaniston, he couldn't have hired so many killers to do his bidding.
The group of killers he hired was clearly from a professional assassin group. Among them, the leader looked at Zoe and sneered.
He said, "On the international assassin rankings, every step up means a whole new level of strength. Just one rank difference, and the power difference could be dozens of times greater.
"That guy you killed earlier was only ranked tenth. For him to be taken out by a girl like you is embarrassing.
"But we're not like him. You've got some skills, Zoe. If you weren't my employer's target, I might have thought about bringing you into our group. You really do have talent. But now, it's your time to die."
With that, the whole team of assassins charged at Zoe—over a dozen of the top killers in the world, all attacking at once.
They may not be as scary as the Queen of Mercenaries, but in the underworld, they were known as the strongest group around.
As they closed in on Zoe, the circle got smaller and smaller, almost swallowing her whole. Daniel, standing nearby, lifted his chin with a smug look, as if victory was already his.
He thought, 'That's what you get for crossing me. Now you're dead meat.'
Meanwhile, Sophia, who had slipped away and was hiding behind an abandoned car, watched eagerly. She thought, 'Finally, Zoe was about to be finished.'
Thinking this, Sophia pulled out her phone, ready to record every second of Zoe's end as her own trophy. She'd be sure to send a copy to Eunice, too.
Zoe, surrounded by the killers, had a cold, proud look—she didn't seem scared at all.
She was the Queen of Mercenaries, someone who could take out every name on the mercenary and assassin rankings all by herself.
Just as Zoe's eyes turned cold and she was about to strike, a loud roar suddenly echoed from far away, making Daniel, Sophia, and all the killers freeze in shock.
"We're from the Eminence Nexus. Anyone who tries to hurt our boss will be wiped out!"
