Amy's cloudy eyes were unfocused at first. Soon, she recognized the people around her. Still a bit lost and unsure where she was, Amy looked at Joseph and murmured, "Joseph..."
Joseph was so overwhelmed he didn't know what to do. He was shocked that Zoe had pulled it off and was moved to tears. Clutching Amy's hand, his voice trembled as he spoke, "Amy, are you okay?"
Seeing Amy wake up, the others were utterly stunned. They couldn't believe that Zoe had brought Amy back to consciousness. They thought it was nothing short of a medical miracle.
"Grandma," Shawn called softly.
Shawn already knew Zoe could save Amy, so he wasn't surprised at all. The slight curve of his lips and the look on his handsome face made it clear he was in a pretty good mood.
By now, no one dared to look down on Zoe anymore. After all, the best neurologists in all of Clusia, plus top doctors from abroad, had already consulted on Amy's case, and none of them could even wake her up.
But Zoe had only used a few ordinary-looking silver needles to make Amy open her eyes and speak. Her medical skills were truly out of this world.
At this point, no one dared to doubt Zoe's identity as Yancy's teacher. Everyone stared at Zoe in disbelief, looking at her like she was some kind of legend.
Sophia's eyes went red with disbelief. She thought, 'No way. How could this be possible?' She clenched her fists so tightly that it felt like her knuckles might snap.
But then, Amy's next words turned everyone's shock into confusion. She said, "Why do I feel like I can't move my body?"
Hearing this, Sophia immediately turned to Zoe, seizing the chance to lash out, "Zoe, what kind of shady trick did you use? Did you mess around just to wake Amy up and end up paralyzing her?"
"Who said she's paralyzed?" Zoe shot back coldly.
Sophia shrank back under Zoe's sharp gaze, swallowing hard. "But Amy just said herself she can't move," she muttered.
Zoe replied coolly, "She can't move because her nervous system is damaged. Recovery is going to take a long time. What, do you not understand plain English? You're so young, but your hearing's already this bad?"
Zoe wasn't the type to just take it. She fired back without holding back at all. Every word left Sophia completely speechless.
Sophia was so angry that she swallowed hard. She wanted to say more, but the next second, she was stopped by one of the Ludwig family elders.
The elder said, "Ms. White, that's enough. Zoe has already woken up Mrs. Ludwig. If you offend Zoe and delay her treatment, can you take responsibility for that?"
Seeing the Ludwigs, who had always been on her side, now standing with Zoe, Sophia was stunned. She said, "What did Zoe do to you all? Did she brainwash you or something? There's no way she can cure anyone!
"She's just a fraud! Why are you all going after me instead of her?" Sophia's eyes widened in outrage. As the pampered heiress of the White family, she'd never been treated like this before.
"You're all crazy! Every last one of you!" Sophia shouted at the crowd.
But no one believed Sophia, for the truth was right there in front of them: Amy was awake.
At that moment, Zoe kept working her needles. As she moved, Amy, who'd been so numb she couldn't even twitch, suddenly regained some feeling. In a flash, Amy sat up on her own.
"I can move!" Amy cried out in shock.
The scene was so unbelievable, it was like watching someone come back from the dead. Not long ago, the doctors had given Amy a death sentence, saying she had at most three months left.
Joseph murmured, "This is wonderful, truly wonderful." His face softened as he hurried over to help Amy. His eyes landed on Zoe. The coldness, the distance, and the resentment in his eyes had gone.
He said, "Zoe, I finally believe you're Mr. Lewind's teacher. As long as you help my wife make a full recovery, I'll personally host the wedding for you and Shawn."
That was the most genuine promise Joseph could give. He'd pretty much accepted Zoe.
In this battle between Sophia and Zoe, Zoe emerged victorious.
Joseph's words made Sophia's face burn with shame. The maids and servants were whispering and pointing at her. Humiliated, tears streamed down her cheeks.
Sophia wiped her tears and shouted, "I don't believe it! It doesn't count until the very end!" Then she turned and ran out of the Ludwig residence like she was escaping.
Everyone in the Ludwig family was caught up in the joy of Amy waking up. No one paid any attention to Sophia's tantrum.
With Yancy's help, Zoe removed all the silver needles.
Joseph had been watching the whole time. Finally, he asked, "By the way, Zoe, what's the next step? Does Amy need acupuncture every day?"
The way Joseph talked to Zoe showed just how much his attitude toward Zoe had changed.
Zoe just replied, "Acupuncture once a month. Yancy will handle the herbal medicine."
Suddenly being put in charge, Yancy wasn't upset at all. He looked thrilled. He said, "Zoe, you want me to make the medicine? Will you write down the illness and treatment for me, too? That way I can learn something new!"
Yancy was obsessed with medicine and didn't care about anything else. If he hadn't been so sincere, Zoe never would've agreed to teach him in the first place.
Zoe nodded.
Getting Zoe's approval made Yancy even more excited. He quickly stood up and said, "Make way, everyone! Don't block Zoe's path!"
Seeing how eager Yancy was to please Zoe, Joseph immediately sensed something was up.
He thought, 'If Zoe is just a small-town girl, how could she possibly have such impressive medical skills at her age, and even be Yancy's mentor? Something's off here.
'Could it be that my previous investigation into Zoe was wrong? Maybe she wasn't raised in some small town at all?'
