The more she thought about it, the more she wanted to uproot Zoe once and for all.
Back in her room, Sophia grew more and more frustrated. With no outlet for her anger, her eyes fell on the scissors on her nightstand. Without a second thought, she grabbed them and began furiously hacking at anything within reach.
The down comforter was soon shredded, with feathers flying everywhere. Sophia screamed, "Damn you! Damn you! Just die already, Zoe!"
Sophia smashed everything in the room she could get her hands on, the sound of things breaking echoing all around. Only after seeing the mess did Sophia finally feel a bit better. She kicked the broken pieces aside and collapsed onto her bed, completely drained.
But as soon as Sophia calmed down, all she could see in her mind was Zoe crushing her over and over again. The memories were so vivid and relentless that they were enough to drive her to the brink of insanity.
The noise from Sophia's room was just too much, and the housekeeper started to worry and went upstairs to check.
When the housekeeper knocked loudly on the door, Sophia just felt even more irritated and covered her ears with her hands.
"Ms. White, if you don't answer, I'm coming in," the housekeeper called, worried something had happened. She unlocked the door and stepped inside.
"Who said you could come in, you worthless thing!" Sophia snapped, grabbing a decorative ornament from her nightstand and hurling it at the housekeeper in a fit of rage.
The ornament hit the housekeeper right on the head, and blood started gushing out instantly.
Sophia's first reaction wasn't fear, pity, or regret. It was pure anger. She yelled at the housekeeper, "Quit pretending! Did I say you could come in? You brought this to yourself. Get out!"
The commotion was so loud that Samuel rushed upstairs. He quickly pulled the housekeeper out of the room and said, "Go get your wound treated at the hospital. We will make sure you're compensated.
"And don't go blabbing about what happened today. You know what happens to people who cross the White family."
The housekeeper nodded frantically and hurried away.
Once the housekeeper left, Samuel stepped into the room and closed the door behind him. He asked, "Sophia, what happened? Who made you so upset?"
As soon as she saw her brother, Sophia broke down and started sobbing.
Samuel immediately understood. He said, "Was it Shawn again? The Ludwig family is getting out of hand. Do they think our family is that easy to push around?
"Don't worry, Sophia. I'll call the Ludwig family right now and make sure they keep Shawn in check."
Hearing this, Sophia immediately choked out. She tried to stop him, "No, Samuel, don't. It's pointless. I'm fine." She didn't want Samuel going up against Zoe without knowing who he was dealing with. Sophia knew it would only end badly for Samuel.
Samuel gave in. He said, "Alright, I promise. Just calm down, okay? Go rest in the guest room. I'll have someone come clean up in here."
Once Sophia headed to the guest room, a sharp glint flashed in Samuel's eyes. He quickly pulled out his phone and called up a friend.
He said, "Do me a favor and look into Shawn for me. I want to know what on earth he's done lately to piss off my little sister."
His friend replied, "Seriously? Are you that out of the loop about your sister? The latest news is that the Ludwig family set up a challenge to find a miracle doctor for Amy, and your sister lost to her rival, Zoe.
"Now Zoe's already been recognized by the Ludwig elders as Shawn's fiancée."
Samuel's eyes widened in shock. He exclaimed, "Wait, what? This is for real?" He'd thought Shawn was just fooling around with some random woman, but it turned out to be the real deal.
He thought, 'So the woman who humiliated Sophia is called Zoe. I need to dig deep and find out exactly who she is and what makes her so special that even Shawn is set on her.
'More importantly, what kind of skills does she have that allow her to dare challenge our family?'
