Zoe finished the acupuncture, pulled out the needles, and then pressed hard on the spot beneath Amy's nose. In the next instant, Amy caught her breath and started coughing.
At the sound of coughing, everyone immediately turned to look at Amy.
Amy, who'd seemed half-dead just moments ago, suddenly opened her eyes and managed to sit up. She asked, "What happened to me?"
Everyone was so stunned they couldn't even speak. Yuri didn't believe that someone so close to death could recover so suddenly. He rushed over to check on Amy.
Shawn didn't stop Yuri. After all, Yuri had always been the Ludwig family's doctor and had watched Shawn grow up. He was someone Shawn could trust.
Yuri took Amy's pulse and examined her, muttering, "Impossible. This is impossible. Absolutely Impossible." It was clear that he was utterly shocked.
Everyone quickly crowded around. One asked, "Yuri, how is she? What's her condition?"
When Yuri finally finished his examination, he slumped into a nearby chair, looking completely dazed.
"Yuri?" someone prompted, trying to snap him out of it.
Yuri waved a hand weakly and said, "Let me calm down for a second. I honestly don't even know what to say. The patient's condition is just too bizarre."
But his reaction only made everyone more anxious. Instinctively, they turned on Zoe. One of them accused, "So it's even worse now? Zoe, you are a murderer!"
No one believed that a critically ill patient like Amy could recover so quickly. After all, Zoe wasn't some legendary miracle doctor. It was the only logic they could accept.
Sophia was secretly delighted. She thought, 'I have planned everything so carefully, and now all my hard work is finally paying off. I will bring Zoe down for good. So what if she is Firefox?
'She's a woman who only knows how to fight, and she can show off on the battlefield like a man. But when it comes to the messy grudges and schemes of high society, what tricks could she possibly have?
'In the end, she is no match for me and will be taken down just as easily.'
Just as Sophia was about to say a few more harsh words, Yuri suddenly stood up and said something that left everyone in shock. He said, "I've never seen anything like this.
"Just a few minutes ago, Mrs. Ludwig's condition was terrible, she was basically beyond saving. But when I checked her pulse just now, I discovered that her neurological disease has completely disappeared."
A collective gasp swept through the room. One exclaimed, "What? Amy's cured? Aren't neurological diseases supposed to be nearly impossible to treat? How could a few needles fix her?"
Someone asked, "Yuri, can you explain what's going on here?"
Pressed for answers, Yuri went on, "Mrs. Ludwig has recovered. Aside from being a bit weak, she's no longer in any danger. Even the organ failure from before is gone.
"There's still some lingering damage, but with careful care, she'll be back to normal in less than half a year." He turned to Zoe and said, "Ms. Evans, how did you do it? Is this the magic of traditional treatment?
"I studied Western treatment before, and I'd always heard traditional treatment was mysterious and powerful. I never really believed it until now. I'm honestly blown away."
Yuri was so excited he looked like he might kneel to Zoe right then and there. His attitude left the entire Ludwig family completely stunned.
Sophia was frozen in place, unable to move. She thought, 'How could this be? The situation was so dire, and yet Zoe still managed to save Amy. What kind of monster is she?'
Joseph had heard every word Yuri said. He might not trust Zoe or the other doctors, but Yuri had been the Ludwig family's doctor for decades, and he was always diligent and trustworthy.
Joseph asked again, "Yuri, out of all these doctors, you're the only one I trust. Are you saying my wife is cured? Is it true?"
Yuri immediately nodded respectfully. He said, "I swear on my decades of medical reputation, it's true. Mrs. Ludwig is cured. This is nothing short of a medical miracle." Once again, it proved that it was Zoe who saved Amy.
Hearing this, Joseph was so moved that tears streamed down his face. He said, "Good, good, she's finally recovered." He thought, 'Did I misunderstand Zoe all along?'
The other Ludwig family members, all sharp-eyed and quick to catch on, immediately chimed in. One said, "Congratulations, Joseph! After all this hardship, things are finally turning around."
Another said, "That's right, Amy has managed to escape danger this time. From now on, only good fortune awaits her, blessings upon blessings." Their words were as sweet as honey, switching sides faster than a chameleon.
Hearing those congratulations, Sophia's face grew darker and darker.
Just then, Yuri spoke up again, "Still, my abilities are limited. I recommend taking Mrs. Ludwig to the hospital for a more thorough check-up."
Everyone quickly agreed. One said, "Exactly, the hospital's tests will be more accurate."
Another said, "Let's go, to the hospital."
The group started to head out, clearly planning to wrap things up for now. But for Zoe, this was far from over.
"Wait," Zoe shouted. Her voice was so cold it could freeze the air.
Everyone turned to look at her.
Zoe continued, "I've stabilized Mrs. Ludwig, so there's no need to rush any tests. But let me make one thing clear: this wasn't an accident. Someone did this on purpose, which is why her condition took such a dangerous turn.
"If I'd arrived even a little later, she wouldn't have made it. We have to catch the real culprit." As she spoke, her icy gaze landed right on Sophia.
For a split second, Sophia's heart skipped a beat. She thought, 'Did Zoe already know it was me? No way. I've been so careful. There's no way anyone could have figured it out.'
Zoe glanced sideways at Shawn, giving him a subtle signal. They exchanged a look, perfectly in sync.
Perhaps both being veterans of the battlefield allowed them to have such an unspoken understanding. They didn't need any verbal explanation to know what the other's glance meant.
Shawn stepped forward and pulled back the covers from Amy. Zoe's eyes swept over Amy from head to toe. Finally, her gaze locked onto the bracelet on Amy's wrist.
Her expression turned cold. Without hesitation, Zoe took the bracelet off and declared firmly, "This is the item that caused Mrs. Ludwig's condition to worsen and nearly killed her."
