"Boss, we've got a problem," came Medusa's voice.
Zoe thought, 'If Medusa calls, it has to be serious. Something she can't handle must have happened.' Her tone grew even colder as she asked, "What happened?"
Medusa said, "It's the orphanage. I don't know who found out about our connection to the place. We hid it so well, but someone attacked the children.
"Now all the kids are in their hands. Every so often, they're threatening to kill one." Medusa's voice shook, raw with emotion.
Before Medusa and others became mercenaries, they were orphans of war themselves. Those kids were the only ones they truly understood. That was why they took those kids in. And now, those children had been hurt because of them.
Zoe's grip on her phone tightened. The light in her eyes went out, replaced by a chilling darkness. She forced herself to stay calm. She said, "Get the jet ready. I'm coming right now."
"The jet's ready. Just waiting for you at the airport," Medusa replied.
Zoe said, "I'll be there soon." With that, she hung up. When she looked up again, her eyes were bloodshot, burning with murderous intent.
She thought, 'Whoever dares touch the orphanage better pray the kids are unharmed. If not, I will make them pay in blood, no matter who they are.'
After saying a quick goodbye to Amy, Zoe rushed out of the Ludwig residence. She didn't hesitate to grab one of their cars and sped straight to the airport.
At the airport's VIP entrance, Zoe met up with Medusa on the tarmac. The two of them boarded their private jet, heading for the ruins of the International Gartes Battlefield.
