Thinking of this, Zoe's eyes dimmed. She finally relented, at least for now. "Fine. For your sake, I'll let Sophia keep her miserable life today."
But this was just a temporary compromise. With Zoe's personality, she'd never really let someone who deserved to die off the hook just because of Joseph.
Once she succeeded in assassinating Shawn and was ready to leave Clusia, she'd come back to end Sophia's life.
Sophia, realizing she'd just escaped death, broke into an excited laugh.
But her joy lasted only a second before Zoe's next arrogant words sent her straight back to hell.
Zoe said, "All of you, remember this. Sophia, your life is on my list. One day, I'll come back for it."
With that, Zoe ignored everyone and walked straight out.
The entire White family was left deeply shaken. For a long time after Zoe left, not a single person spoke.
As Zoe left, the guests gradually filtered out as well, but Joseph didn't seem in any hurry. Instead, he made himself comfortable on the sofa.
It was only then that Eric and Anna finally had a chance to turn to their daughter, demanding answers.
"Sophia, what's going on? Did you really work with someone else to kill those orphans?" Eric asked.
Sophia stuttered, unable to get a word out in response to her father's question.
Anna frowned, pressing her daughter, "Sophia, what happened? Tell us the truth."
At that moment, Joseph suddenly spoke up, "Everyone, besides helping the White family keep Zoe in check, there's another matter I need to address."
Eric and Anna both turned to look at him. "What is it?"
Joseph raised his hand, signaling his people to bring out all the evidence of Sophia's dirty tricks and brutal actions, laying it all out on the table.
He cleared his throat, putting on the full authority of the family head, and said sharply, "Go through all this evidence first. Then we'll talk."
When Eric, Anna, and Marvin picked up the files and skimmed through the contents, every member of the White family stared in shock, completely dumbfounded.
"What is it? Let us see," the three White brothers said, hurrying over to take a look.
But after they finished reading, their faces were just as ashen and horrified as their parents.
Joseph spoke up again, his tone grave, "I didn't make this public before because of the relationship between our families. But now, seeing how far Sophia has gone, I think you all need to know what kind of person your daughter really is."
If the White family had previously been willing to believe in Sophia, perhaps thinking she couldn't be all that bad and that everything was forgivable, they no longer did.
Now, with all the evidence laid out in front of them, and Joseph himself presenting it, there was no room left for excuses.
Everyone in the White family was left in utter shock.
The horrifying truth hit them: Sophia had actually slaughtered more than three hundred orphans.
"Mr. Ludwig, I admit my daughter was wrong, but I think she only did it because she has feelings for your son.
"She must've been tempted by that arms dealer from Yaniston. For the sake of our families, could we just let this go?" Eric asked carefully.
Even with all the evidence right in front of him, Eric still stood by Sophia.
After all, Sophia may have had bad intentions, but the one who actually killed was the arms dealer from Yaniston.
'Maybe there is still a chance to turn things around,' the White family thought.
But Joseph suddenly let out a furious snort. He tossed out another stack of evidence.
He said, "What you saw just now was only proof that your daughter targeted Zoe. But look at this, your daughter even tried to harm my wife not long ago.
"How do you explain that?" Joseph asked.
