But Alex wasn't completely clueless. He pressed on, "What about the recording? You literally said you wanted Zoe dead in it."
Sophia wiped her tears and said, "Alex, she was the one who wanted to kill me first. Just because I was the biggest threat to her for Shawn, I only said those things to the arms dealer to protect myself. I really had no choice."
"Yeah, Sophia used to be so soft-hearted she wouldn't even hurt an ant. I just can't believe she'd ever order someone to kill," Simon chimed in.
Samuel nodded, "So that guy had a personal grudge against Zoe. This really has nothing to do with Sophia. Even if she hadn't said anything, he would've gone after Zoe anyway."
The three brothers took turns defending Sophia, and now they were all completely convinced she'd been forced into this.
Seeing her plan was working, Sophia quickly wiped her tears and said, "I really was forced to say those things out of desperation. Zoe got exactly what she wanted. She's marrying into the Ludwig family now. This was all her scheme from the start."
Samuel's face was dark, and he didn't say a word.
Simon slammed his hand on the table. "That Zoe is really something. She dumps all the blame on our little sister. We have to make her pay."
Alex was just as furious. "Unbelievable! Sophia is so kind. Zoe must have pushed her to the edge. I wish I could just punch that despicable woman!"
Samuel still didn't speak, but Sophia knew all three of her brothers were now completely convinced this was Zoe's plot.
Sensing the timing was right, Sophia let out a soft sigh. "Brothers, she's really clever. I couldn't outsmart her, and that's why I ended up like this. If the three of you go after her, you'll probably just get played by her, too.
"Let everyone keep misunderstanding me. It's fine. At least the White family will stay safe," Sophia said.
But Simon stepped forward. "No way. We can't just let this slide. If this isn't your fault, then we have to stand up for you. Otherwise, people will think the White family is easy to bully."
"Samuel, we have to get justice for Sophia and for the White family," Alex insisted.
"Exactly. Right now, the Ludwig family is avoiding us, and our business ties are probably going to suffer. But if we deal with Zoe, maybe things with the Ludwigs can go back to normal," Alex added.
Seeing his siblings' determination, Samuel finally nodded, "Alright, we'll do it your way. Let's figure out how to get rid of Zoe."
But this isn't something they can rush. They would need to plan carefully.
Eunice, the Evans family's little sister, had completely trashed her reputation before, all because she went head-to-head with Zoe.
But ever since she started working at Marlowe Group, her confidence had shot through the roof.
She'd made a bunch of impressive colleagues and international friends, and with a little help from the Evans family's connections, she managed to regain her place at Highcrest University.
Her situation was the total opposite of Sophia's, who was now stuck in a mess.
Today was Eunice's first day back at Highcrest, and just thinking about how she'd redeemed herself with her own abilities made her beam with confidence.
Eunice thought to herself, 'Once I'm back at Highcrest, my classmates are definitely going to look at me with envy.'
Not just anyone could get into Marlowe Group. All they could do was watch and wish it were them.
Early that morning, Eunice dressed up to the nines and headed out for Highcrest University. Right before she left, her third and fourth brothers, Herbert and Jacob, even came along to drop her off.
The moment she stepped back into her old classroom, her classmates immediately swarmed around her.
"Eunice, you're finally back! We missed you so much!"
"Eunice, you're incredible! You actually got into Marlowe Group, and that place is nearly impossible to get into. You're basically Clusia's certified genius now!"
"Eunice, we heard everyone at Marlowe Group is super impressive. Tell us, are they all geniuses or something?"
With everyone chattering and crowding around her, Eunice felt like she was back in her glory days—back when Zoe wasn't around to steal her thunder.
She felt truly alive again.
Yes, this was exactly the feeling she loved. She absolutely thrived on being treated like a star.
