With a cocky, almost defiant smirk, Zoe strolled back into the second chamber, totally unhurried. She gathered up every bomb she'd disarmed earlier, stacked them together, and right there on the spot, assembled a massive explosive.
She did it all in just twenty seconds, showing everyone in the room just how much she knew about bombs—and how skilled she was at putting together weapons.
With only ten seconds left on the clock, she tossed the giant bomb she'd just built into the third chamber, setting off an earth-shattering explosion.
Pulling off a blast like that takes razor-sharp calculations—the depth and force of the explosion, plus how the materials inside would compress, deform, break apart, loosen, or get flung everywhere.
Basically, this was a test of pure calculation, and a showcase of talent in math, physics, and chemistry. After that string of moves, the whole place was rocked by a deafening "BOOM" Everyone's heart skipped a beat.
The live feed on the big screen fizzled with static, then cut out completely—the explosion had knocked out the signal in an instant. "Bang!"
Joyce and Robert both shot to their feet at the exact same moment, slapping the table in shock. Their eyes were wide with horror.
"Wh-what just happened in there?"
Zoe had actually used the bombs from the second round to blast her way through the third, but after that massive explosion, nobody knew what was going on inside.
Everyone in the room was holding their breath, hearts in their throats. 'Did she make it, or?' they thought. The answer came fast.
Because just ten seconds later, a wall at the exit of the third chamber was blown wide open. This was the room that had stumped every Highcrest University student. Even Philip couldn't get through it, but Zoe had just cleared it.
Through the swirling dust and the roar of fire and light, a proud, unyielding girl strode out, her steps cold and confident. It was wild, it was jaw-dropping—an absolutely explosive scene.
But Zoe had done it. She stood before everyone, the undisputed champion of the all-round challenge. The title of all-around genius was hers, no question about it.
"Whoa—!" The whole crowd gasped in shock. With Zoe standing there, it was like a legend had just descended. Everyone was completely stunned.
"Oh my god, what just happened at the end? Zoe actually made it out of the chamber alive."
"She even managed to use blasting to break through, and assembled a bomb on the spot—only she could pull that off."
"If I'm not mistaken, Zoe just used hacking, bomb disposal, weapon assembly, physics, chemistry, math, explosives—basically every skill you can think of—to clear this round. Isn't that exactly what an all-around genius looks like?"
"She's just insanely strong."
The crowd exploded with chatter, everyone talking at once. The three White men, Gerald, Eunice, Philip, and the rest all stood there, completely dumbfounded.
They were blown away by Zoe's incredible talent and strength, but at the same time, they just couldn't believe it.
Eunice, in particular, was grinding her teeth so hard it was a wonder she didn't break them. Jealousy, anger, and frustration surged through her, threatening to swallow her whole.
'No, this can't be. How could Zoe possibly be this strong? It has to be fake. Something must have gone wrong. There's no way Zoe is actually this amazing,' Eunice thought.
Just then, while everyone was still reeling from Zoe's display, Joyce and Robert quickly got up and hurried over to her, concern written all over their faces. "Zoe, are you alright? Are you hurt anywhere?" Joyce asked anxiously.
Zoe turned her head and shook it. "I'm fine. Not hurt at all."
"Thank goodness." Joyce let out a breath she didn't even realize she'd been holding.
As Zoe conversed with Joyce and the others, the White brothers were still determined to take Zoe down. Fully convinced by Sophia, they saw Zoe as nothing but a fraud. She had manipulated her way into Jelonsburg's elite circles through threats, bribes, and hollow pretenses.
But now, after watching all three rounds for themselves, they couldn't deny Zoe's real talent. She was powerful but never showy, distant but proud. A woman with such a unique presence made the Samuel brothers be moved, deep down.
It was hard to believe that someone so powerful could be the petty, scheming villain Sophia had described. The thought left Samuel genuinely shaken.
Just as Zoe finished the competition and was about to leave, Samuel stepped forward to block her way. "Zoe, you seem like a straightforward, honest person, not the kind of villain people say you are. So why would you treat Sophia like that?
'Zoe took Sophia's fiancé, plotted against her, and wouldn't let her go, driving her into a corner.
'Sophia was just being used by Bruno, the arms dealer from Yaniston. She was so kind-hearted; she never intended to kill anyone,' Samuel thought.
Zoe let out a cold, mirthless laugh, then said quietly, "Because she killed someone. And if you kill, you have to pay the price."
Samuel pressed. "But from what we know about Sophia, she'd never hurt those kids for no reason. She actually loves children."
"She wanted to get back at me," Zoe interrupted sharply. "I don't think I need to explain this further," she continued. "If you dig deeper yourselves, you will uncover the truth. It just depends on whether or not you're willing to do so.
"You can investigate for yourselves what kind of person Sophia is." With that, Zoe didn't stick around. She turned and walked away; head held high.
Her words left the three White brothers deep in thought. As Zoe was about to disappear from view, Samuel finally called out softly to her back, "We'll look into it ourselves.
"We'll get the full story from Sophia. If she really did something wrong, we'll make sure she pays the price. But if you set her up, we won't let it go either."
With that, the three brothers turned and left together.
As soon as the three left, the host announced that Zoe had earned the title of "All-Around Genius" in this challenge.
At the same time, Zoe, the newly crowned "All-Around Genius", had already left the venue. But just as she stepped out the main doors, she was immediately surrounded by Jelonsburg's top figures, including Joyce, Robert, and the rest.
"Hold on, Zoe."
"We still have something to discuss with you."
