Jacob squeezed in too, eager to see it. For the five Evans brothers, joining the Eminence Nexus had always been the ultimate dream. This invitation was practically legendary to them.
But the sad truth was, none of them had ever been qualified to even get close to the Eminence Nexus, let alone see an actual invitation. All they'd ever heard were rumors and stories.
And now, this legendary invitation was right there in Gerald's hands. The brothers were completely stunned, immediately bombarding him with questions.
Even Bruce and Clara, along with Eunice, turned to look at Gerald. But then Gerald, right in front of everyone, lifted his hand and pointed straight at Zoe. He smiled and said, "Zoe gave it to me."
As soon as he said that, the whole Evans residence went silent. Herbert and Jacob stared at Zoe, their faces frozen in shock, totally dumbfounded.
Eunice, meanwhile, was secretly gritting her teeth. Even though she'd come back early, she already knew all these rewards would end up with Zoe in the end.
If she weren't holding onto Clara right now, her fists would definitely be clenched tight.
Still, jealousy aside, she couldn't help but think, 'If only that spot at the Eminence Nexus could be mine, I'd be the most envied heiress in all of Jelonsburg.'
"You." Charlie, the second brother, was so shocked he could barely get the words out. Besides shock, there was jealousy too, but he wasn't jealous of Zoe, he was jealous of Gerald.
Charlie was frustrated. If he had known about this great opportunity, he would have skipped the car race to watch Zoe's competition. Maybe then he could have grabbed the invitation for himself. Now it was Gerald who benefited.
"Stop, Charlie. Don't think I don't know what you're thinking. This invitation is mine, and you're not getting it," Gerald said, making no effort to hide how much he loved being the center of attention thanks to Zoe.
"Hmph," Charlie snorted, but still took the invitation. "I just want to look at it. Can't I even do that?"
Even as he said that, Charlie walked right up to Zoe. "Oh, my dear sister, next time help me get an invitation too, okay? I want to join the Eminence Nexus as well."
Herbert and Jacob couldn't hold back any longer. They'd been the most critical of Zoe at first, but now, somewhere along the way, their attitudes had completely changed.
The two of them crowded around Zoe, shouting in exaggerated excitement, "Zoe, I want one too!"
"I want one too."
Eunice had always thought at least Herbert and Jacob would be on her side, but now, seeing them switch over to Zoe just because she could get an Eminence Nexus invitation, she was so mad she could barely see straight.
Sure enough, the moment Zoe came home, she started taking everything from her—first the love of her five brothers, then Dad, and maybe even Mom in the end.
She couldn't let that happen. She spoke bitterly, "Don't make things hard for Zoe. Getting the invitation twice was pure luck. Asking her to get another one would be like trying to ascend to heaven; nearly impossible."
'Even if Zoe's luck was off the charts, it couldn't be that good. As for me, well, I know I'd never pull it off,' she thought.
Charlie thought for a second, then turned to Zoe. "Don't be upset, Zoe. I shouldn't have asked and put pressure on you. Honestly, just having such an awesome sister is already something to brag about. Really."
The other brothers quickly chimed in, each making their own stance clear. Just when everyone thought Zoe must have used up all her luck getting two Eminence Nexus invitations, she surprised them all by saying some words.
"If you guys want those Eminence Nexus invitations so much, next time I get them, I'll give them all to you."
Zoe said it so casually, but everyone else was floored.
"What?"
"Wait, you could actually get another one?" Herbert and Jacob stared at her; eyes wide.
"You'd really give it to us first?" Charlie stammered.
'After all, an Eminence Nexus invitation isn't something money can buy. People spend their whole lives chasing after it, but most never even get a foot in the door.
'But Zoe spoke of obtaining the Eminence Nexus invitation as if it were as easy as picking up cabbage from the street. How could it be so simple for her? What was going on?' they thought.
