The other foreign experts crowded around their colleague like he was some kind of freak. Just a minute ago, he was barely hanging on—and now he was up and moving like nothing happened.
Once they were sure he was really okay, they all started talking at once.
"I can't believe Clusia actually has a drug this powerful!"
"If we could bring this back home, it could save so many lives!"
Hearing the foreign experts finally admit their amazement, Robert and Joyce exchanged a glance, surprise flashing in both their eyes.
Then Robert let out a big laugh and glared at the foreign experts. "Well? Are you convinced now? Don't you think it's time to apologize—to everyone here, and to our great country, Clusia?"
But even though they knew they were in the wrong, the foreigners didn't want to admit it. Not even the guy who had almost died and just been saved by RevitaCore.
"Why should I apologize?" he said. "I don't know what tricks you pulled off to stage this whole thing, but I don't believe any of it's real. It's fake. I'll never say sorry to you stupid Clusians!"
"Oh?" Zoe raised her eyebrows, clearly amused. "So you wanna try again? Just so you know, I'm not saving you a second time."
Her light, almost casual tone sent a chill down the man's spine. He wasn't bluffing anymore.
He had felt the pain. The near-death experience was real. If it happened again, he might not survive it.
That thought made him shiver. His pride crumbled fast. "I'm sorry! I shouldn't have said that! Please don't hit me again!" he begged.
His quick apology made some of the other experts feel embarrassed.
They had heard rumors before—stories about how Clusians had strange, powerful abilities hidden in their bodies, that they could fight like warriors or even leap across rooftops. After seeing what Zoe could do, those stories didn't sound so crazy anymore.
Trying to save face, the foreign experts quickly came up with an excuse to leave.
"Well, it seems you no longer need our guidance. We're requesting to leave now."
"But we're not done with you. You've endangered our lives. We'll file a formal complaint!"
"Yes!"
"Let's go."
"Everyone, move out!"
Despite their tough words, it only took a few glances between them before they turned and ran. They left so fast, no one even needed to show them the door.
Laughter erupted from the Clusian researchers. Finally, the foreign expert team was the one fleeing in shame, while the Clusians stood tall. It felt like a perfect comeback after being looked down on for so long.
"Ms. Evans, I don't usually admire people," Claude said excitedly. "But your strength—and that miracle RevitaCore—you've got my full respect!"
Even though Claude was an older, well-known doctor, he didn't care about saving face. He was ready to call Zoe his mentor on the spot. But Zoe stopped him.
"Medicine has no limits," she said. "We can both learn from each other."
That one line made the researchers admire Zoe even more. It was rare to meet someone so young, so talented—and still so humble.
Just as everyone was about to keep praising Zoe, her expression suddenly changed. She frowned, and a serious look came over her face.
"Send the word out—everyone needs to evacuate the lab immediately," she said firmly.
The announcement came so suddenly that even Joyce was caught off guard. "Zoe, what is it? Why would you say that all of a sudden?" she asked, confused.
The others around them looked just as puzzled.
"There's danger," Zoe said coldly.
Everyone stared at her, still not understanding what kind of danger she was talking about.
Robert stepped in, "This place has the most advanced security system around. There's no way anything dangerous could happen here."
The others quickly nodded in agreement with Robert.
But Zoe didn't back down. "Someone planted bombs here. The detonators have already been activated."
Her words caused an instant uproar.
"No way!"
"That's impossible!"
Several researchers jumped in to argue, and even Frank, the weapons expert, said confidently, "Zoe, you must be mistaken. There's no way bombs could be in here.
"This is Jelonsburg's—and even Clusia's—top research facility. It's cleaned and checked every day. If there were bombs, we would've found them already."
Joyce added, "I really trust the security here. Are you sure you're not mistaken, Zoe?"
Seeing that no one believed her, Zoe just blinked and said nothing more. She didn't feel like explaining.
Once a bomb is armed, the countdown begins. She needed to find the devices and defuse them first.
Zoe's hearing was exceptionally sharp. She picked up a sound that normal ears couldn't hear, and immediately started walking toward the source.
Though the other researchers didn't understand what she was doing, they quickly ran after her and blocked her way.
"This is a restricted area! All the confidential research and valuable materials are stored inside. No one's allowed in without clearance."
"Yeah! Even you need to go through proper procedure to enter."
Joyce caught up too. She held Zoe's arm and said, "They're not lying. The area you're trying to enter is off-limits. Without a security card and password, even we can't get in."
But to their surprise, Zoe didn't back down—not even a little.
She said plainly, "The bomb is in there. I'm going in. If you believe me, evacuate now."
A locked security door wasn't going to stop her.
Seeing that Zoe wouldn't listen and still said such a bold thing, the researchers looked conflicted.
This area wasn't just any part of the lab—it was the most heavily guarded zone, where top-level research happened. Everyone allowed inside had gone through strict background checks. It should've been impossible for a spy to sneak in and plant bombs.
Still, they didn't know how to stop Zoe, so they looked to Joyce, hoping she'd make the call.
Joyce tried to reason with her. "Zoe, we all know how capable you are. You don't need to scare everyone just to prove your skills. This isn't something to joke about. Bombs are serious.
"If we were somewhere else, maybe we'd believe you. But this is a high-security area—there's just no way bombs could be—"
She didn't get to finish.
Suddenly, alarms started blaring.
Everyone's eyes shot upward in alarm. Then a chilling voice came over the loudspeakers: "Emergency Alert! Multiple unknown explosive devices detected in the facility. Exact number and locations unknown. All personnel must evacuate immediately. Evacuate immediately..."
Once they were sure he was really okay, they all started talking at once.
