When Charlie saw what was happening, his face went pale. "Zoe... you shouldn't worry about me and Sean. These people are killers. You and Shawn need to get out of here now!"
Zoe didn't move.
Charlie kept urging, "What are you waiting for? Go! Shawn, if you really love Zoe, then listen to me—take her and run! If you don't, we're all gonna die here."
Even though Charlie had always cared only about racing, he could sense something wasn't right. This was a setup.
He knew Zoe wasn't like other people. She had just taken down a whole group of men with ease—clearly, she was powerful. But now there were hundreds surrounding them. Even with Shawn fighting beside her, it wouldn't be enough.
But then something happened that neither Charlie nor Sean expected.
Shawn stepped up and stood beside Zoe, tall and striking. The two of them looked like a perfect couple, standing shoulder to shoulder.
Zoe asked, "My dear Shawn, are you ready?"
Shawn didn't need her to explain. "I've been ready."
"Then let's do this." As soon as she finished speaking, Zoe kicked a steel pipe off the ground and caught it mid-air. She and Shawn exchanged a quick glance.
This was the first time Zoe—Firefox—and Shawn fought side by side.
Zoe went all out. Anyone in her way was instantly taken down. It was like the enemies were made of paper—she snapped necks like it was nothing.
Shawn worked in perfect sync with her, striking with full force. He moved like a knight guarding her back, making sure nothing could hurt her.
The two of them showed terrifying power in an instant—like two killing machines, wiping out anyone who got close. On that battlefield, they were the king and queen.
Charlie and Sean stared, completely stunned.
"Is that really Zoe? She's insane..." Charlie muttered.
He could barely believe this fierce fighter was the same girl from a tiny village not long ago.
Some people had said Zoe was just a useless loser from nowhere, not good enough for Shawn. But now Charlie saw how ridiculous that was. When Zoe shined, she was just as brilliant as Shawn.
Together, Shawn and Zoe fought with perfect teamwork, wiping out the hundreds of attackers in no time.
Charlie's legs were trembling. He still couldn't snap out of it. He had thought that he and Sean were doomed to die today, but Zoe's arrival had reignited his hope of survival.
"Sean, hang in there," Charlie turned toward him. "With Zoe here, we're definitely getting out of this alive!"
Sean blinked slowly in response, clearly struggling to stay conscious. He didn't have the strength to speak anymore.
It wasn't until all the enemies were taken care of that Zoe returned with Shawn to Sean and Charlie's side.
Charlie had so much to say, but in the end, all of it came out as a loud shout: "You—you're incredible, Zoe!"
Zoe was already kneeling beside Sean.
Charlie scrambled over to him. "Zoe, Sean's badly hurt. He's lost a lot of blood. Please check on him."
After examining Sean's condition, Zoe's expression turned grim.
"Zoe, say something. How is he?" Charlie asked anxiously.
Shawn, having finished dealing with the aftermath, now joined them. He said calmly, "Don't worry. With Zoe here, he's not going to die."
His unwavering confidence and trust made Zoe glance at him. She couldn't help but feel something was off—his belief in her seemed too absolute, as if he had already figured out she was Firefox.
Despite the suspicion, Zoe didn't dwell on it. After examining Sean thoroughly, she confirmed that aside from severe blood loss, there were no fatal injuries.
She immediately took out a RevitaCore capsule that Claude had made and placed it into Sean's mouth.
"Take good care of Sean," Zoe instructed Charlie firmly, then stood up.
Shawn said quietly from the side, "You sensed it too?"
Zoe glanced around, thoughtful. It was too quiet—unnaturally so.
Suddenly, she looked sharply in a certain direction.
Shawn seemed to have sensed it as well. He murmured, "Looks like the real trouble is just beginning."
"You scared?" Zoe gave him a sidelong glance and asked.
Looking off into the distance, Shawn replied calmly, "Fighting by your side—it's an honor."
The way Shawn seemed to see right through everything made Zoe blink uncomfortably. But there was no time to dwell on that now.
"What are you two talking about?" Charlie walked over and caught the tail end of their conversation. "Zoe, isn't the danger over? What's going on?"
"Charlie, gather all the workers. You need to leave—take everyone and get out of here now," Zoe said, looking at him with cool determination.
The tone of her voice made Charlie's heart sink.
"What? You want me to leave with them?" he asked in panic. "Zoe, what are you saying? I don't understand. Aren't you coming with us?"
"If you're not leaving, then neither am I!" he added firmly. "Now's the time for all of us to stick together. The more people we have, the stronger we'll be!"
But Zoe paid no attention to Charlie's protest. She knew this wave of assassins was far from the end.
What awaited her next was a group of true elites—possibly the strongest force Team Quiver had to offer, perhaps even on par with the members of Eminence Nexus.
If she wanted to ensure that Charlie, Sean, and the other innocents got out safely, someone would have to stay behind to cover their escape.
And that someone could only be Zoe or Shawn.
Zoe turned to Shawn. "I'm counting on you to keep them safe."
That was her decision. She was entrusting her two brothers to him.
Shawn lowered his eyes, his gaze turning cold.
"Zoe, what are you saying?" Charlie, who had been in the dark until now, instantly realized what she was planning.
He shouted at her, "I know I'm not as strong as you in a fight, and neither is Sean, but there's no way I'm leaving you behind alone!
"Let Shawn take Sean and the others. I'm staying with you. At the very least, I can help shield you from bullets when things get bad. I'm not useless!"
Given Sean's condition, he needed immediate medical attention and a blood transfusion—RevitaCore alone wouldn't be able to regenerate that much blood fast enough.
But Charlie was determined to stay. "I'm not going anywhere!" he said stubbornly.
Zoe shot a glance at Shawn. Though no words were exchanged, he instantly understood what she meant and respected her decision.
Without hesitation, like a loyal knight, Shawn stepped forward and brought his hand down hard on the back of Charlie's neck—knocking him out cold with a single blow.
