Shawn stepped forward, hoisted the gravely injured Sean onto his back, and dragged Charlie with his other hand.
His movements were swift and steady—carrying the weight of two grown men didn't seem to strain him in the slightest.
Zoe knew that with Shawn's strength, getting Sean and Charlie out of there would be no problem.
Now wasn't the time for more words. If she was right, the real elites of Team Quiver would arrive at any moment.
"Please get them to safety. I'm counting on you," Zoe said solemnly to Shawn.
Shawn nodded. This was the first time Zoe had ever asked him for a favor—of course, he would do it.
Without another word, Shawn turned and swiftly disappeared down the path they had come from, carrying Sean and dragging Charlie behind him.
Zoe stared at his retreating figure for a few seconds.
She trusted him. With Shawn there, even if danger arose, he would find a way to get Sean and Charlie out. After all these years of facing off against him, she understood his capabilities better than anyone. In that regard, she had no doubts.
And now, her own battle was just beginning.
Three minutes later, Zoe shouted, "Come out! What's the point of hiding?"
She stood alone, yet carried the presence of an entire army.
As soon as her voice rang out, armed figures emerged from the shadows, forming a tightly organized force.
Each one wielded heavy weapons and bore an air of ruthless confidence—nothing like the small-time thugs who had attacked Sean and Charlie earlier.
Zoe knew exactly who these people were: the core members of Team Quiver. They were on a whole different level from the cannon fodder before.
And the reason they hadn't shown up earlier was simple—they weren't here for her brothers. They were here to kill her.
Some of the factory workers had already bolted after Shawn, while others, still suspicious and confused, lingered behind.
But the moment they saw this new group of armed terrorists appear, those who had stayed behind let out screams of horror.
"Oh my god, why are there so many more of them?"
"Weren't we already safe? Is this an even bigger threat?"
"We're all gonna die this time!"
The remaining workers now wore expressions of sheer dread, as if the world were ending. These new attackers were far better equipped than the last group.
Not only did they have heavy weapons and massive, muscle-bound soldiers who could shred people in seconds, they even brought in armored vehicles—war-grade machinery meant for breaching fortified positions.
As the enemies drew closer, Zoe's face fell.
She had expected this to be a tough fight—but even she hadn't anticipated that Team Quiver would deploy such an overwhelming force just to take her down.
There were over a hundred attackers. And even for the mighty Firefox, going up alone against an elite unit like this was a nearly impossible battle.
It was a fight she knew she might not win.
Zoe lowered her eyes. If Shawn were still here, maybe the two of them together would've had a slim chance. But now, he had already taken Sean and Charlie away. She didn't expect him to come back.
From this point on, it was all up to her.
"What do we do? We don't want to die!"
"Please, save us! We're begging you!"
As the Team Quiver operatives appeared and closed in, the workers panicked and began to flee in all directions. Many of them ran to Zoe, seeking protection.
After all, Zoe had displayed incredible combat prowess earlier—that was why they hadn't followed Shawn. They had no idea that Shawn was a legend of war; they just assumed Zoe was their safest bet.
But Zoe was only one person. No matter how powerful she was, she couldn't possibly shield them all.
Even so, the workers' desperate cries and the fear etched across their faces struck a nerve in Zoe's heart. She couldn't ignore it. She wanted to protect them.
Her mind flashed back to the very reason she first picked up a weapon and began fighting—she had always wanted to stand up for those at the bottom of society.
