As soon as those commanding words rang out, everyone present stood frozen in shock. They thought, 'Who's speaking? Why does he sound so familiar? Am I having an illusion?'
"Did I hear that wrong? Who's mimicking Shawn's voice so perfectly? I almost believed it was him."
"Come on, Shawn is already dead, and his body is probably in a million pieces by now. How could he possibly show up?"
"Yeah, that's impossible."
Just as the burly man at the front finished speaking and burst into wild laughter, those around him instantly froze, terror flashing across their faces.
The next second, Shawn lifted his leg and slammed a kick into the man's back, sending the over 220-pound brute flying several feet away.
The man slammed into a dumpster, crushing it flat on impact. "Fuck!" he groaned in pain as he scrambled to his feet. "Who the hell dares ambush me?"
"I do," came a commanding voice. The next second, a handsome man dressed in a black cloak appeared before everyone, his sharp eyes filled with icy resolve.
Moments later, Zoe swayed gracefully into view, standing by Shawn's side. They looked perfect together, like the prince and princes in fairy tales.
The foreign warriors were left utterly dumbstruck. One of them stammered in fear, "You are—"
Then, another warrior shrieked in terror, his voice trembling with utter disbelief, "It's Shawn, the legendary warrior of Clusia. Why is he still alive?"
As soon as the words were spoken, shockwaves rippled through the crowd, and everyone froze in disbelief, not knowing what to say.
Soon, the Clusian soldiers began to cheer.
"Shawn is alive. He came back!"
"Our legendary hero is alive. Mr. Ludwig, you're finally back."
"Shawn, I knew you wouldn't die so easily. You're the hero we all believe in!"
Chase and his men were the first to recognize Shawn. Almost immediately, they burst out cheering, their excitement filling the air.
Those foreign warriors, who had been convinced Shawn was dead and were all too familiar with his power, suddenly had their faces turn pale and staggered back several steps in horror.
"What? Is Shawn alive?"
"Didn't they say he was dead?"
"No, that's impossible. I can't believe this."
"This person definitely isn't Shawn. Maybe it's just some random Clusian impostor trying to fool everyone with a cheap disguise."
"I agree. Since none of us have actually seen Shawn, the Clusians just dug up some random impostor to fool us. Don't fall for this trick."
"Don't listen to them. Just destroy that so-called laboratory immediately. Hurry up. Trust no one and don't hesitate for a second."
The foreign warriors and their soldiers simply couldn't believe that the two people standing before them were truly Shawn and Zoe.
"Guys, don't be scared. This so-called Shawn is a fake. The real Shawn is already dead. They're just trying to scare us with an impostor. Don't let them fool you." One of them stepped forward, bellowing to rally his soldiers.
Had he not immediately retreated behind his soldiers, using them as shields, what he said might have actually sounded convincing.
Some believed the man before them was truly Shawn.
"Wait, he seems to be the real Shawn. Shit, we're no match for him."
"Why are you all scared? There are so many of us, and I'm sure we can defeat Shawn."
"Look. There's blood on his clothes."
At that moment, a gust of wind lifted Shawn's cloak, revealing the bloodstains on his clothes, and stirring shock among everyone present.
One of the foreign warriors saw this and suddenly lost all fear. "If he were in his prime, maybe I'd be worried, but now he's just an injured cripple. What's there to be afraid of?"
Someone agreed, "Exactly. Once a strong man gets hurt, his power plummets. This is our chance to prove ourselves by killing Shawn. Don't steal my glory. I'm going to finish him off myself."
An impatient warrior shouted fiercely as he rushed forward recklessly to finish Shawn, while none of the others tried to stop him.
They treated this man as a volunteer. They thought if he could prove Shawn's fighting strength had truly weakened, then they would make their move.
Even if he ended up dying, his sacrifice would serve as a clear warning to others—not to rush in recklessly and waste their lives.
This man made insulting gestures while taunting Shawn. "Come on, Shawn. Aren't you the legendary warrior of Clusia? I'm gonna show you what a true legend looks like."
His attitude was nothing short of spitting on Clusia's honor, and Shawn's face darkened. He clenched his fists, ready for a brutal fight.
Just as Shawn was about to make his move, Zoe suddenly reached out to block him with a mischievous grin spreading across her face, clearly eager for action.
She said, "Don't. Your wounds haven't fully healed yet. Leave him to me." Zoe shrugged off her cloak and tossed it aside, revealing her face to everyone.
Zoe's figure looked slender and delicate, but there was a striking beauty in her form. She was definitely not someone one would expect to be a fighter.
Seeing all this, the group of warriors couldn't help but burst out laughing on the spot, their mockery dripping from every chuckle.
"How dare a little girl challenge me? Honestly, I can break your neck with merely one hand."
"Go smash her head and tear her clothes off!"
"Let's humiliate Shawn by shaming his woman right in front of him. I'm sure that will destroy him."
Their taunts became harsher and more vicious, with some even openly proposing to humiliate Zoe as a way to disgrace Shawn in front of everyone.
Zoe squinted with irritation flashing across her face. She raised her hands and stretched, her joints crackling loudly with each movement.
"Little girl, you'd better walk away. You're no match for me."
"It seems that Shawn isn't the strong man he used to be. Now he has to hide behind a woman's skirt. What a disgrace."
"Shawn, you're such a pathetic coward."
As the foreign soldiers all shot Shawn glares of contempt, mocking him as nothing but a useless coward who could only hide behind a woman, Zoe sprang into action.
Suddenly, she lifted her foot and kicked several stones flying across the ground. With a heavy thud, a shocking scene unfolded before everyone.
