Just as Troy was caught up in those dark thoughts, the air shook with a deafening crash. That deafening crash startled him. He immediately popped his head out to look.
Troy saw Zoe flip the enemy vehicle clean over with raw strength that defied physics.
The gunmen who had been firing from inside the overturned vehicle were now either still trapped inside or had already bailed out through the windows.
But that was all Zoe needed, her chance to strike back.
Two men scrambled out of the car windows. Seeing Zoe charging at them, literally running across the hood of the car, the two men scrambled to draw their guns, fumbling in panic. They moved fast, yet Zoe outpaced them by a split second.
Zoe lashed out with a kick, disarming one man and breaking his arm in one brutal move. The man gaped at his arm dangling limply, completely out of his control. His face went pale as he nearly passed out from sheer terror.
Meanwhile, another attacker lunged low, aiming for Zoe's legs. Zoe planted her foot on the injured man's chest and launched herself skyward.
The second man was sent flying by the kick, slamming hard into the mangled wreck of the car.
Using the car for cover, the attackers inside immediately opened fire on Zoe. Bullets poured toward Zoe like there was no tomorrow.
Zoe's eyes turned icy cold. She muttered, "You're asking for it!"
Just then, two more cars roared onto the scene. A dozen men piled out of the vehicles, each armed to the teeth with heavy weaponry.
Seeing this unfold, Troy thought, 'We are done for! Two against a dozen? This is a hopeless fight!'
Zoe coolly sized up the armed men, then barked at Troy inside the car, "Seize their vehicle, now!"
As for the attackers, they couldn't care less about Zoe's orders. They thought, 'What's the point of stealing a car when you're about to die anyway?'
The attackers swarmed Zoe, paying Troy no heed, as if he posed no threat whatsoever.
Troy cautiously peeked out, only to realize he was being completely ignored. Maybe being completely ignored by these people pissed Troy off, he felt like he'd lost all face.
Fueled by anger and humiliation, Troy abandoned his wrecked car and charged headlong at the two enemy vehicles.
Sure enough, both cars were empty. Troy's fury burned even hotter. He thought, 'So they think I'm just a useless nobody, huh? I'll show them how this 'nobody' turns the tables on them!'
He jumped into the car, fired up the engine, and wrenched the steering wheel hard, sending the vehicle barreling straight toward the enemies.
Spotting a car charging at them from behind, the attackers scattered instantly, unintentionally clearing a path for Troy.
Troy screeched to a halt right in front of Zoe. Before he could even reach for the door, Zoe dove straight through the open window and landed in the passenger seat without wasting a second.
By now, Zoe had already snatched up two weapons. "Go!" Zoe barked.
Troy didn't hesitate, he slammed on the gas. The tires screeched violently as the car spun sharply, leaving two deep black skid marks burned into the pavement.
"Follow them!" one of the attackers shouted. When their weapons failed, some attackers quickly switched to another car to chase after Zoe and Troy. The rest remained in place, waiting for reinforcements to arrive.
Zoe fired back, her aim deliberately unpredictable to throw off their pursuit. But Troy's evasive driving kept throwing off Zoe's aim. With superior driving skills and firepower, the enemy quickly closed in.
The attackers quickly realized the car was their biggest obstacle. With ruthless precision, they zeroed in on the tires with concentrated gunfire, determined to cripple Troy's vehicle.
The moment Zoe realized what was happening, she barked at Troy, "Get your ass in the back, now!"
Troy protested, "What? You want me to move to the back? I'm the one driving here. Are you serious right now?"
Zoe didn't waste time with his protests. She yanked his seatbelt loose, grabbed him like a ragdoll, and hurled him into the backseat.
