Thrown into the backseat, Troy lay there utterly stunned, his mind reeling. He thought, 'Where am I? What the hell just happened to me? Did I really just get tossed around like a rag doll by a woman? She's way too terrifying!'
The moment Zoe took the wheel, the car became an extension of herself, responding perfectly to her every command.
The attackers couldn't even keep up with Zoe, and her insane driving skills had them thrown off. Even with heavy firepower trained on the tires, not a single shot landed.
Seeing the gap between the two cars kept widening, the attackers thought, 'If this continues, our assassination attempt is doomed to fail.'
Troy lay in the backseat, his stomach churning as the car lurched violently from side to side. He craned his neck and looked back, only to be stunned.
Seeing the car chasing them had been left far behind, while their car hadn't suffered even the slightest scratch, Troy thought, 'Is Zoe's driving this insane?'
Just when Troy thought Zoe was about to make their escape, she suddenly yanked the wheel into a sharp turn. The car whipped around on the spot.
"Not again!" Troy screamed.
The engine roared, and the tires screeched as Zoe suddenly spun the wheel. Just as the two cars were about to collide in a split second, Zoe released the steering wheel, spun around, and yanked the still-dazed Troy out through the car door with her.
The two cars collided head-on with a deafening crash. Both cars were completely wrecked, and leaking fuel erupted in flames almost instantly.
Troy lay sprawled on the ground, staring blankly at the roaring inferno in the distance. He asked, "Did we almost just die? Are we out of danger now?"
He was utterly stunned by what he had just witnessed, his mind completely blank with shock.
"Dream on," Zoe sneered, springing to her feet. In one fluid motion, she whipped out twin pistols and unleashed a hail of bullets toward the enemy.
Shots immediately returned from the other side.
Troy initially wanted to help, but when several bullets whizzed past his feet, he froze in terror. It finally dawned on Troy that these people were after Zoe, not him. They didn't want him meddling, so they fired those warning shots.
Instead of backing down, Zoe charged forward like she had a death wish.
Before long, about twenty armed figures finally emerged from the shadows. They leveled their weapons at Zoe. One of the armed men shouted, "Halt! One more step and we'll shoot!"
Zoe didn't even flinch at any of it. If anything, she picked up her pace.
Seeing this, Troy shouted in terror, "Zoe, have you lost your damn mind? You can't take on all these guys alone! If you're hell-bent on dying, don't drag me down with you!
"How the hell am I supposed to explain this to Shawn if you get yourself killed?"
But to everyone's shock, Zoe moved like a sleek leopard. Her steps were effortless, her eyes locked solely on her prey.
One of the attackers yelled, "Watch out! Don't let her get close!" They'd done their homework on Zoe and knew just how deadly she was in close combat. They unleashed full firepower to keep Zoe at bay.
From Troy's vantage point, their shots covered every conceivable angle. He thought, 'Unless Zoe could sprout wings and fly, there is no way she could escape that kill zone!'
"Zoe, get down!" Troy roared, his pupils contracting sharply in sheer terror. He thought, 'It is already too late. Zoe is done for!'
Just as the bullets were about to strike, Troy saw Zoe whip off her jacket. He thought, 'Is Zoe about to deflect bullets with nothing but her jacket? Is she serious?'
In the next instant, Troy watched in shock as Zoe twisted a piece of metal from the car into a tight coil and, with blinding speed and strength, she deflected every incoming bullet mid-air.
The bullets ricocheted off her as if she were some untouchable force, and no bullet could even get close.
