Charlie rushed up to Zoe like an adoring fanboy and wrapped her in a big bear hug.
"Zoe, you're absolutely amazing! You've made our whole family proud," Sean exclaimed.
Gerald walked up to Hawk and carefully examined his wounds. Finally, he realized that marksmanship left him both envious and stunned.
'Damn, if Zoe were in the military, she'd be a top-tier sniper,' Gerald thought, unable to hide his admiration.
Gerald spun around, fixing Zoe with a serious look. "Teach me!" he demanded, unable to hide the eagerness in his voice.
"Hey now! If anyone's getting taught first, it should be me!" Herbert cut in, eager to steal the spotlight.
Finally regaining his composure, Bruce stepped out of the car. "Save it for home," he commanded.
Police sirens wailed nearby. "Mom, Dad, I'll stay behind to handle the cleanup. You go ahead first!" Sean said decisively.
"Alright. Call home right away if you run into any trouble," Bruce responded.
Zoe had barely stepped inside when her brothers swarmed around her, bombarding her with questions, instantly making her the center of attention for the entire family.
Clara, still pale and unsteady, was supported into the house by Eunice and Bruce.
Eunice's heart burned with resentment as she watched her brothers ignore her completely, pouring all their attention on Zoe.
She spat, "How dare you come back, Zoe? You killed so many people and they were all foreign dignitaries. If they come after us, you'll drag the whole family down with you!" Eunice wanted everyone to see Zoe as a curse.
But her brothers couldn't care less—instead, they were excitedly swapping stories about how Zoe had fearlessly taken down their attackers.
It was the first time Bruce had witnessed his daughter kill someone in public. At first, he was terrified. But as he thought about it, his heart ached for her.
'If Zoe hadn't been forced to wander alone since childhood, she wouldn't have needed to acquire such lethal abilities,' he thought.
After today's battle, Bruce finally realized Zoe was no ordinary woman. At the very least, she was strong enough to stand shoulder to shoulder with Shawn.
'As long as Zoe and Shawn don't part ways, the Evans family will always remain protected,' Bruce thought.
By now, Clara had regained her senses. She sat stiffly on the sofa, watching her sons crowd around Zoe with a dazed expression, still unable to fully process what had just happened.
Eunice said, "Mom, aren't you going to say something? Zoe's gotten us into a lot of trouble!"
When Zoe's gaze fell upon her, Clara flinched and immediately averted her eyes in fear.
Clara said to Eunice, "Let's face it. If it weren't for your sister Zoe stepping in today, none of us would be here. We can't just keep blaming her."
"Mom, what are you saying? Zoe, she..." Eunice blurted out, disbelief in her voice.
"Enough. I'm not feeling well—help me upstairs to rest."
"But Mom..." Eunice started, her voice tinged with unwillingness.
"That's enough. Come with me," Clara interrupted firmly, grabbing Eunice by the arm and leading her upstairs.
Once they were in the room, Clara finally said, "From now on, don't antagonize Zoe. If anything, you should try to get on her good side, even if it means swallowing your pride a little."
Eunice was utterly stunned by Clara's words. 'Mom always treated me as her most important daughter. Why is she suddenly telling me to suck up to Zoe?' she thought, feeling both shocked and hurt.
She looked at Clara and asked, "Are you saying I'm not as good as Zoe now?"
Clara gave Eunice a solemn look and said, "You saw it yourself today. Zoe kills without batting an eye. That means her background before returning to our family must have been extraordinary. She might be keeping something from us."
Today's events left Clara utterly shell-shocked.
