"Cut the act," Eunice snapped. "Your crimes are ironclad—no one can whitewash them."
"Really?" Zoe said coldly, her piercing gaze fixed on Eunice.
Eunice felt a flicker of panic, but quickly reassured herself, 'No way she could catch me. I've wiped out every trace.'
Just then, a man was forcibly shoved into the party hall. "Let go of me!" he shouted in protest.
The noise got everyone in the party hall looking.
Bruce and Clara, who'd been at a distance, rushed over with their sons to see what was going on.
One look and they froze. 'Isn't that Zoe?' they thought in disbelief. 'She's supposed to be locked up awaiting trial. What's she doing here?'
"It's Zoe." Charlie's face lit up with joy.
Sean was delighted too, but he had to hide it.
The other Evans brothers just watched, making no move to intervene.
The shouting man was dragged before everyone. Without hesitation, Zoe kicked him hard, sending him to the ground in a humiliating mess.
"Who's this guy?" someone in the crowd called out.
Rick fixed Zoe with an icy glare. "Zoe, are you so sore about losing that you're dragging random people into this? Well, don't kid yourself. We only deal in hard evidence."
Ignoring Rick, Zoe turned to Eunice instead and asked pointedly, "Does this man look familiar to you?"
Eunice's face went pale the moment she saw the man. "H-How would I possibly know someone like him?" she stammered.
"Someone like him?" Zoe pressed, her voice cutting. "How do you know what he's like if you don't know him?"
Eunice clamped her mouth shut, panic flashing in her eyes.
"Phillip, speak," Zoe commanded, her gaze fixed on the man sprawled on the ground.
Phillip was about to curse, but the murderous look in Zoe's eyes silenced him instantly.
"Speak!" Rory thundered.
"Alright, I'll come clean. I'm Phillip, the smuggling ringleader who worked with the Marlowe Group. Truth is, I usually work alone, until someone paid me to use Marlowe for money laundering. I did what she said."
"Do you know me?" Zoe asked.
Phillip shook his head. "Nope. Never seen you before."
"Then who was it that approached you about money laundering?" Zoe pressed. "Is she here right now?"
Under Zoe's piercing gaze, Phillip couldn't bring himself to lie. After a tense pause, he finally said, "She's here. It's her."
He pointed straight at Eunice. "She promised to help launder my money and said working with Marlowe Group would let me ship goods legally."
Eunice went pale. "You're lying. I don't know what you're talking about."
"Not lying," Phillip retorted. "I recorded our conversations and the contract signing as a precaution."
Phillip was an old hand. When such a golden opportunity landed in his lap out of the blue, of course he took precautions. Sure enough, his warehouse was raided soon after partnering with Marlowe Group—who else could it be but Eunice?
Zoe immediately had someone hand Phillip his phone. He accessed his secure folder and played the video. The footage left no doubt—it was Eunice on screen.
Instantly, whispers rippled through the crowd.
"Oh my god, I never thought sisters could fight this dirty."
"Well, the fiercest fights are always between sisters. Eunice must be jealous her sister's better than her, so she pulled this filthy stunt."
Eunice was terrified. She covered her ears, refusing to listen or look at anyone, but it was no use—nothing could clear her name. "No! It's not true! It's all fake, I didn't... I swear I didn't..." she stammered desperately.
"Eunice, I never thought you'd stoop to framing Zoe," Charlie said, his voice trembling. 'How could she be this ruthless? Thank god I stuck by Zoe,' he thought.
Bruce, stern-faced, looked at Eunice with deep disappointment.
The Evans brothers watched in stony silence.
Clara couldn't accept the shock and collapsed on the spot.
