Eunice had counted on the White family as her sanctuary, but now they were desperate to cut all ties. As for her family, Clara had passed out, while Bruce and the Evans brothers glared at her with fury, as if she were the worst criminal.
'What should I do? Should I beg Zoe for mercy?" Eunice staggered back in panic.
She wanted to apologize, but the crowd's stares and whispers held her hostage. Admitting to her crimes would mean a life sentence of disgrace—her future would be in ruins. She couldn't let that happen.
"Zoe, that's not what happened," Eunice cried desperately. "These videos must have been doctored. The person in them isn't me at all."
Zoe finally realized that Eunice wouldn't back down without concrete proof. "Bring them in," she ordered.
At Zoe's command, several more people were escorted in—all employees of Marlowe Group and Eunice's subordinates. The moment they appeared, they burst into wails.
"Ms. Zoe Evans, we were forced into this!"
"Yeah, Eunice found our weaknesses and blackmailed us into funneling dirty money into company accounts."
"She also had us secretly stash those smuggled goods in the warehouse, just to set it up for the police to find."
"Recently, she even made us tamper with shipments, selling counterfeit products while pocketing profits."
"We have videos and recordings. We were coerced into this. Please, show us mercy!"
Zoe remained silent.
Rory cut in sharply, "Silence! You reap what you sow."
He collected the new evidence—more recordings and videos. If one set could be dismissed as fake, a room full of witnesses and corroborating proof was undeniable.
Charlie snatched a phone to watch, his anger mounting with every second.
Panicked, Eunice said, "Ms. White, you told me to—"
Sophia cut her off, "I never thought you'd stoop this low, Eunice. You deceived us all. I thought you had my best interests at heart, but you were just planning to drag my family down with you."
She turned to the crowd, her voice dripping with disdain. "Let me make this clear—I have absolutely no ties to her. She's the one who latched onto me."
At Sophia's betrayal, Eunice knew it was over.
"Eunice, aren't you going to tell the truth?" Bruce roared, his face dark with humiliation.
"Dad, I really didn't mean to do it," Eunice pleaded, her voice trembling. "Please save me."
Bruce stared back, stone-faced.
Charlie said with a heavy heart, "Eunice, don't you see your mistake even at this point? You need to apologize to Zoe and beg for her forgiveness."
Eunice knew that if no one helped her this time, she would be really done for. In a last desperate resort, she threw all dignity aside and struck her face as she wailed, "Zoe, I was wrong. Please, forgive me."
The truth dawned on everyone—this was a vicious showdown between sisters. They'd thought Eunice was winning. Now it was clear Zoe had played a long game.
"Zoe, please. Have mercy!" Eunice pleaded. She was truly terrified, slapping her face so hard that it was swollen.
Just then, a squad of police officers marched into the party hall. "Make way!" they barked, and the crowd instinctively parted before them.
Eunice's hand stilled mid-air. Her eyes went wide with pure terror. 'Police! They're here to arrest me. No! I can't go to prison. If they find out everything I've done, I'll be locked up for years.'
Desperate for help, she whirled around and rushed toward Sophia and Rick. "Ms. White!" she cried. "We're partners. You can't just let me take the fall alone."
"Are you out of your mind? I have no idea what you're talking about," Sophia shot back immediately.
Eunice shrieked hysterically, "Rick, and all of you! Seconds ago, you were all trashing Zoe. Now you're acting like saints? Honestly, you want her to fall even more than I did, don't you? You're all accomplices and should be arrested too."
Now that she realized there was no escaping punishment, she began making wild accusations, trying to drag everyone else down with her.
Rick's face darkened. He couldn't help but shoot Sophia a sharp glare, blaming her for failing to handle the situation properly.
Sophia knew she was at fault and didn't dare argue back.
Eunice lashed out wildly, but two officers quickly subdued her. "Let me go! I don't want to be arrested!" she shrieked. "Zoe, have mercy!"
Zoe stood unmoved. She'd given Eunice countless chances. Now the reckoning had come.
Just as the police were about to escort Eunice out, Clara finally regained consciousness.
Eunice noticed and screamed desperately, "Mom, help me!"
Clara rushed forward, blocking the officers. "What are you doing? Let go of my daughter!"
"Mom, save me!" Eunice wailed, snot and tears streaking her face.
Clara turned to Bruce with pleading eyes, but he averted his gaze coldly. Then she turned to her sons.
But given how Zoe had been wronged before, all the Evans brothers felt too ashamed to plead for Eunice, especially since her actions this time had crossed every line.
With no other choice, Clara turned to Zoe. "Zoe, Eunice is your twin sister. Can't you spare her?"
Zoe stayed silent. Clara's blind favoritism had enabled Eunice's descent. Even now, she refused to see the truth.
Clara lunged forward, trying to hit Zoe, but Rory quickly stepped in to block her. Two members of Eminence Nexus immediately seized her arms, restraining her firmly.
"Zoe is a highly valued member of Eminence Nexus," Rory warned. "Any harm to her will be met with full legal action."
Hearing this, Bruce charged straight at Clara and slapped her hard across the face.
"You hit me?" Clara gasped, her voice trembling. Bruce had never laid a hand on her before.
Bruce roared, "How much longer are you going to keep this up? You spoiled Eunice rotten. Now shut up and get back."
Clara crumpled to the floor, sobbing. She dared not defy her husband, let alone Eminence Nexus. Also, she couldn't bear the thought of her precious Eunice ending up in prison.
Clara shoved Bruce's hand away and crawled desperately to Zoe's feet. "Zoe, you're so powerful. Please, I beg you, save your sister!"
Zoe stood motionless, unwilling to help.
Meanwhile, Eunice was almost dragging out. Panicked, she screamed, "Let me go! My sister has Eminence Nexus behind her. She'll save me for sure."
The crowd exchanged incredulous looks. They couldn't believe Eunice would be this stupid. After everything she'd done, she still clung to the idea that Zoe harbored sisterly affection.
Zoe's patience was wearing thin. Finally, she said, "Those who break the law deserve their fate. Take her away."
