The other elders sensed something was off and demanded to see the evidence—only to realize, to their dismay, that Zoe had damning leverage over every one of them. If they kept targeting her, they'd only be shooting themselves in the foot.
The elders were inwardly stunned. "How in the world did she do this?" She had gathered so much damning evidence. Some of it even they themselves weren't fully aware of.
With the elders thoroughly cowed, no one dared to stand up for Sophia anymore. At least for now, none of them had the guts to go against Zoe again.
Zoe left. Though her brothers wanted to chase after her, they couldn't abandon their parents in this state. Reluctantly, they let Zoe go for now and escorted their parents back home.
The Evans family had completely fallen apart because of Eunice's mistakes.
Sophia remained seated on the sofa long after the guests had left, in a completely scared and senseless state. She couldn't believe that Zoe, after being arrested, could not only walk free, but had now turned the tables and was holding so much damning evidence against them.
Just as Zoe said, if she wanted to take down the White family, they'd stand no chance. She thought, 'What should I do? I really underestimated her. As expected of the Queen of Mercenaries, Firefox, she's truly a formidable opponent.'
After all the guests had left and the house was empty except for the White family, Sophia knew everyone was waiting for her explanation. But she stood speechless, her mind in complete turmoil.
Outplayed by Zoe, Eric immediately called to withdraw all actions against the Marlowe Group. Now, with too much at stake, he dared not make another move against them.
Fearing retaliation, Sophia realized that Rick was the only one in the family who could help her. With no one else to turn to, she had no choice but to seek his help.
Rick was about to leave when Sophia blocked his car. "What are you doing?" Rick snapped.
Sophia said urgently, "Please listen. I have something critical to tell you."
Rick said coldly, "This whole mess is your doing. Aren't you ashamed enough already?"
"This is really important. Please, just hear me out before you get angry."
"Get in," Rick frowned.
Sophia hesitated for a moment before speaking cautiously, "Rick, I think there's more to Zoe than meets the eye. Her identity can't just be that of the long-lost daughter the Evans family brought back."
"What do you mean by that?" Rick demanded sharply.
"You saw what happened today. Eminence Nexus actually sent Mr. Walters to back Zoe up. That just proves her connection with them is anything but ordinary.
"The Ruler of Eminence Nexus is none other than Firefox, the Queen of Mercenaries. If Eminence Nexus is protecting someone, that means they're one of Firefox's people. Zoe must be connected to Firefox somehow.
"Some people have said their profiles look quite similar. Do you think they might be related?" Sophia asked cautiously, inwardly on edge, afraid that Rick might catch on.
If he ever found out she'd actually offended Firefox, she knew he'd kick her out of the White family in a heartbeat.
Rick sneered disdainfully at the mention of Firefox, "Firefox? She's just a disreputable mercenary daring to make trouble in Clusia. Even if she showed up in person, I'd still find a way to take her down."
Hearing Rick's words, Sophia felt a flicker of hope ignite within her. 'If I could use him to eliminate Zoe, wouldn't that solve everything?' she thought.
Sophia said anxiously, "That's Firefox we're talking about. When she faced Shawn, neither could gain the upper hand. It was a deadlock. She's a formidable opponent."
Rick snorted disdainfully, "Shawn only held back because he was bewitched by that seductress. Did you really think she could fight him at a standstill otherwise?"
