Zoe's smile instantly vanished. She hung up on Medusa without hesitation and opened her phone's news app.
Right at the top of the trending topics was a bold headline video: [Marlowe Group Scandal: Family Feud Exposed—Jealous Younger Sister Frames Her Own Sister, Now Arrested and Brought to Justice]
Zoe tapped on it and saw footage of Eunice being escorted out of the White family's party. The professional-grade video quality made it clear someone had filmed this with a purpose.
Zoe didn't care who had posted this exonerating video. It cleared her name anyway. As for Eunice, she indeed needed some quality reflection time behind bars.
Zoe put away her phone and was about to go into the room when it buzzed again. She glanced at the screen. It was Sean calling.
Given everything that had happened, the Evans' call made sense. But Zoe had no interest in explaining. She hung up, powered off her phone, and put her family out of her mind.
Sean set down the phone. Seeing Bruce and Clara staring at him expectantly, he lowered his head in shame. "Zoe's phone is off."
"How could she do this? We're family, for heaven's sake. Eunice is her own twin sister," Clara shouted in outrage. "Even if she can't stand Eunice, how could she personally send her own flesh and blood to prison?"
Bruce remained silent. He couldn't blame Zoe for being harsh. This was ultimately their failure as parents.
Charlie couldn't take it anymore. He burst out, "Mom, Dad, how can you still defend Eunice at a time like this? Zoe's right. Eunice turned out this way because you spoiled her rotten."
Clara snapped angrily, "What parents don't spoil their kids? It's Zoe; she's heartless, tearing our family apart. We never should've brought her back. Instead of helping, she managed to send her own sister to prison. What an achievement!" Her words grew venomous as she defended Eunice.
Sean suddenly spoke up, "Mom, we can't keep covering for Eunice this time. Zoe's right. Eunice ended up like this because we failed to act. If we let this continue, she'll only do something worse. It's time she faced the consequences in prison."
Hearing this, Clara suddenly burst into tears. She knew that Eunice might truly be beyond saving this time.
Eunice was restless in the detention center. She made every effort to stir up trouble, hoping someone would notify her family to visit. Her family was her only hope.
But it was as if the Evans family had forgotten she even existed. No matter how much of a scene she made, no one from her family ever came, not even Clara showed up.
Little by little, despair crept into her heart. 'They've abandoned me,' she thought bitterly. 'It's all because of Zoe's ruthless scheming." But now, she couldn't even dream of getting back at Zoe. She couldn't even get out of there.
Just as Eunice was about to give in to despair, a prison guard finally came to inform her that someone wanted to see her.
A glimmer of hope flashed in her eyes. "I haven't been officially sentenced yet. If my family would just pull some strings, maybe I still have a chance to get out," she encouraged herself.
Eunice quickly tidied herself up, but then hesitated, "If I look too well, what if they don't feel sorry for me?" So she deliberately messed up her hair and put on a pitiful appearance.
As she walked to the visiting area, mentally rehearsing how to plead and complain to her family, her heart pounded with anticipation. Only for her steps to falter when she saw who was waiting for her. It wasn't her family at all. It was Sophia.
