The memory of how Sophia had shifted all the crimes onto Eunice ignited a surge of fury. Eunice lunged forward, slamming her palms against the partition glass. "How dare you show your face after what you did!" she shouted.
Sophia sat calmly across from Eunice, leaned forward slightly, and said with a hint of cold amusement, "Eunice, if I were you, I wouldn't be talking to me like that." She paused deliberately. "Your family has completely abandoned you. I'm the only one you've got left."
Hearing this, Eunice scoffed derisively, "You? Doing something out of the goodness of your heart?"
"I'm not doing this out of the goodness of my heart," Sophia said coolly. "But we do share a common enemy. I know things haven't been easy for you here. That's why I'm offering you a way out."
Eunice wasn't stupid. She knew Sophia had used her as a pawn before, even if it was her own choice at the time. Now that Sophia was back, she must have ulterior motives.
But Eunice wanted out, and she had no other option, no matter what Sophia wanted. She looked at Sophia warily. "What do you want me to do?" she asked.
Sophia shook her head. "No, Eunice, the question is what do 'you' want 'me' to do for you?"
Eunice shot Sophia a suspicious look. "I want out of here. I can't stand another day in this place."
"Getting out isn't impossible," Sophia said coolly, "but not right now."
"Then when? I need to get out and take revenge. I'll make sure Zoe pays." The realization that all her suffering was because of Zoe made Eunice's rage flare.
Seeing Eunice bring up Zoe, Sophia deliberately sneered, "Revenge? Good luck with that. The whole Evans family revolves around her now. Shawn and the Ludwigs still have her back, plus she's got the Eminence Nexus on her side. What could you possibly do against all that?"
Sophia's words cut into Eunice's heart like knives, fueling her rage. "No matter how good her life is, I'll make her pay. As soon as I'm out of here, I swear I'll do it.
"Ms. White, let's wipe the slate clean, just this once, please. Help me get out of here so I can make Zoe pay. You want her gone too, right?"
Sophia smirked. "Let me think about it," she replied.
"Why hesitate? If we work together, it's a win-win for both of us. Even if I fail, you won't lose anything. I'll be the only one who suffers." Eunice was desperate to get out.
Sophia suddenly turned serious. "I want to see just how committed you really are. For now, you'd better stay here and think hard about what you're actually capable of."
Sophia's plan was to push Eunice's rage to the breaking point. Only when consumed by absolute fury would Eunice unleash the kind of power needed to take down Zoe and that was exactly the advantage Sophia needed.
Seeing Sophia about to leave, Eunice desperately pleaded, "Don't go! I swear I'll keep my word. I really can do this."
Sophia didn't look back. What she needed was someone desperate enough to go all or nothing for revenge. Right now, Eunice wasn't quite there yet. 'She needs to be pushed harder,' Sophia thought coldly.
After leaving prison, Sophia got back into the car. Inside was a mercenary, a man she'd hired at great expense. He cared only for money, not loyalty. Sophia brought him along for one reason: to deal with Zoe.
She knew assassination was the crudest method. Instead, she had already devised a meticulously woven net for Zoe. Soon, Eunice would be the one openly targeting Zoe, while Sophia would operate from the shadows.
With this dual-layered scheme, Sophia refused to believe Zoe was impenetrable. She vowed coldly, "I won't hold back. I'll orchestrate her downfall permanently."
"Miss, where to next?" the driver asked.
"Take me home," Sophia replied coolly. For now, she wouldn't make a move herself but trouble for Zoe was already brewing.
