Seeing everyone's attention shift to her, Sophia immediately put on a timid act and muttered, "Don't look at me. I'm not even sure if this information is useful."
Rick said reassuringly, "With all of us here, there's nothing to worry about. Just tell us everything you know."
Sophia deliberately glanced at Zoe, clearly feigning fear.
Zoe met Sophia's gaze with calm indifference, dismissing her petty provocations with ease.
Sophia's anger flared up even more at being ignored. 'So she's going to ignore me, huh? Fine, I'll make sure she pays dearly for it today,' she thought to herself.
"I heard from Zoe's sister, Eunice, before," Sophia said, pretending to hesitate. "She said Zoe would secretly use the computer to send info overseas, maybe leaking Clusia's secrets. I didn't think much of it then, but now..."
"What?! There's really such a thing? Why didn't you speak up sooner? Who knows how much classified information she's already stolen and sold by now," one of the Elders exclaimed in shock.
Sophia continued with feigned concern, "I also heard from Eunice that Zoe is incredibly wealthy. She supposedly spent hundreds of millions at an auction recently."
"She's just a teenage girl. Where would she get that kind of money? She must have gotten it by selling state secrets," one officer snapped.
"Damn it! Such a traitor was right under our noses and we never noticed. It's terrifying to think how many more spies are lurking among us," another officer cursed.
Faced with Sophia's slander and her so-called "evidence," those who disliked Zoe immediately began hurling vicious insults, while even Zoe's supporters started questioning her innocence.
Only Shawn stood firmly by Zoe's side. He knew exactly what she was capable of and understood her true identity. There was no way she'd need to sell military secrets for money. But for now, he couldn't reveal any of this.
Seeing the situation spiral out of control, Shawn stepped forward and snapped, "Enough! These are just baseless accusations. Where's the solid proof of treason?"
Shawn's siding with Zoe sparked discontent among many, especially the senior officers.
"Shawn, know your place. You are a soldier. It's your duty to serve your country, not to casually speak with traitors."
"Exactly! These spies these days are getting way too bold. They're even playing emotional games, just like those scammers."
"How laughable! Even our legendary warrior couldn't resist her honey trap."
The Elders kept hurling accusations at Zoe as if she were the most despicable traitor, but in reality, all they had was a triggered computer alarm—not a shred of solid evidence.
Seeing that she had stirred things up enough, Sophia deliberately stepped in front of Shawn, putting on a show of concern. "Shawn, wake up already.
"She's a spy. Her whole relationship with you is just an act. She's just playing you with fake affection. Don't let her fool you any longer."
"Shawn, Sophia cares about you. You grew up together. She'd never harm you. Leave that witch now, and we might forgive your mistake and give you a chance to redeem yourself," Rick said.
Seeing that everyone had already condemned her as a traitor, Zoe locked her eyes on Shawn. She didn't care what the others thought; she just wanted to know Shawn's attitude.
Shawn didn't even glance at Zoe. Gripping her hand firmly, he faced the senior officers head-on. "I swear on my military honor. She is no spy," he declared.
"Arrest this spy now and take her to the Security Agency!" Rick shouted, annoyed by Shawn's resistance. He thought, 'Once Zoe's gone, Shawn will see our good intentions.'
But Rick had seriously underestimated Shawn's trust in Zoe. Ignoring the presence of all the senior officers and Elders, Shawn stepped forward and physically blocked anyone trying to approach them.
"Shawn, stop being so damn stubborn!" Rick bellowed.
Shawn locked eyes with Rick and said firmly, "I trust her implicitly. Unless you can produce concrete evidence of her guilt right here, you're not taking her anywhere."
Rick thought he hadn't made the stakes clear enough. He took a step forward, his voice turning stern as he snapped, "Shawn, this is a direct military order. Are you really going to defy it?"
Shawn's expression turned icy. "Clusia is a nation of laws. Any accusation without solid evidence is slander."
Shawn's repeated defiance left Rick seething, his authority as an elder crumbling. "Shawn, you've really let me down," he snapped. "With the evidence staring you in the face, how can you still make excuses?"
Shawn shot back, "That's not enough to prove anything."
"Wait!" Sophia cut in, holding up her phone. "Before we make any decisions, let's hear what Zoe's own sister has to say."
All eyes turned to Sophia's phone as Eunice appeared on the line.
At that moment, Eunice was being held under guard at the detention center.
Sophia said, "Eunice, tell them everything you know. We can't let any traitor go unpunished!"
"It's Zoe. She's a spy." Eunice accused, her voice shaking. "She's been leaking secrets through her computer. Check her laptop! And she's hiding something big in her room, probably more classified stuff."
Zoe had been listening quietly. She couldn't tell what was wrong at first, but when Eunice spoke, the flaw in their story became obvious. It was clearly a setup.
She thought, 'Looks like there's no shortage of people who want me arrested. Am I really this unpopular? Even Shawn's closest allies are itching to see me dead.'
But at this point, Zoe wasn't going to stay silent any longer. It was time to stand up for herself and set the record straight.
"Calling this evidence?" Shawn interrupted sharply. "Eunice tried framing Zoe before and ended up in prison. How do you know this isn't another of her tricks?"
Shawn's words made the skeptical onlookers nod in agreement. They thought Eunice's words were questionable.
Rick bellowed in fury, "Shawn, the evidence is right in front of you. Why do you still refuse to believe it? What kind of spell has this witch cast on you?"
Shawn stood firm. "I stand with justice, not kinship. No one's taking Zoe away today unless you have solid evidence of treason." He shielded her, resolute in front of the senior officers.
Standing protected behind Shawn, Zoe softened slightly as she looked at him. 'I never expected him to trust me this much,' she thought, warmth flickering in her eyes. 'Now I can't possibly let him down.'
"Accusing me of stealing Clusia's secrets and treason?" Zoe said, her voice calm but mocking. "Do you really think I'd risk everything for that worthless junk on the computer?"
Rick said reassuringly, "With all of us here, there's nothing to worry about. Just tell us everything you know."
