Rick said sternly, "No one wanted this outcome, but remember—you're from the White family, not some stray dog people can kick around. Zoe humiliated you today? Then prove yourself tomorrow and make her eat crow."
Sophia couldn't hold back her tears. "How? Just how? Shawn has publicly declared his relationship with Zoe. How am I supposed to make her eat crow now?
"Do you know what I am in everyone's eyes? A complete and utter loser!" she sobbed, her voice trembling on the edge of hysteria. All the frustration she'd bottled up for so long finally spilled over.
After Sophia finished letting out her frustration, Rick finally spoke. "We haven't lost today. Even though Shawn was making a show of affection with that woman in public, he never denied your engagement to him.
"While we couldn't finalize your marriage this time, at least it's a step in the right direction."
Hearing this, Sophia looked at Rick with a glimmer of hope. "Really?" she asked.
Rick reminded, "Never forget, you have the entire White family behind you. Shawn may be reckless, but he can't afford to disregard the Ludwig family's interests.
"When we return, we'll use both the Ludwig and Evans families as leverage to force him into marrying you. Once you're legally wed, Zoe won't stand a chance."
Sophia felt a surge of hope. 'That's right! As long as I can make it official with Shawn, how could Zoe possibly dare to be the other woman?' she thought.
But Sophia had an ace up her sleeve. Fortunately, she'd already planted Eunice here as her pawn.
Tonight at the party, Zoe had humiliated her in front of everyone. Soon, Sophia would make sure Zoe paid with her life.
"Rick, I know I was wrong. I shouldn't have lost my temper just now," Sophia said, her tone softening as she admitted her mistake. As for Eunice, she didn't plan to tell Rick about it.
Sophia thought, 'He's always treated me well, but he's so rigid. If he ever found out I planned to use dirty tricks to get rid of Zoe, he'd definitely try to stop me.
'It'd be better to keep him out of it and contact Eunice myself. She needs to act quickly.'
Seeing that Sophia had come to her senses, Rick felt relieved. He offered her a few more words of comfort before someone came to discuss matters with him, prompting him to take his leave.
Only then did Sophia pick up the phone she'd slammed onto the carpet and called Eunice.
At that moment, Eunice was out having a good time with her sugar daddy. When she saw Sophia's call, she immediately excused herself, claiming she needed the restroom, and slipped into a quiet stall to take the call.
Sophia snapped, "What's going on? It's a complete madhouse over there!"
Eunice's expression darkened as Sophia launched into a tirade, but she knew better than to fight back now. If she angered Sophia, she might just end up back in prison.
She said, "Ms. White, I've been doing exactly as you asked—servicing those powerful sugar daddies. If you're not satisfied, I'll just stop."
Nothing disgusted Eunice more than having to use her body to please men, but right now, it was the only card she had left to play.
Sophia wrinkled her nose in disgust, as if something filthy was right in front of her.
Good thing they were only talking on the phone. If they'd seen each other's faces, they'd probably be at each other's throats.
"So, what's going on with you now? Shawn and Zoe are at the Universal Tower right now," asked Sophia.
Hearing this, Eunice felt hatred surge through her. "Ms. White, what do you want me to do?"
"The question isn't what I want you to do, but what you can do for me," Sophia said coldly, her eyes fixed on the bustling street outside the window.
She added, "I went to great lengths to get you here because I saw value in you. If you can't prove your worth, then get ready to be sent right back to where you came from."
