One of Aileen's followers sneered, "Some women are so delusional, thinking their looks make them entitled to any man's attention. What a laughing stock!"
"Aileen is way out of her league. If I were him, I'd pick Aileen's in a heartbeat."
One onlooker joked, "If Shawn chooses Aileen, wouldn't that make him Merilunia's most famous son-in-law?"
"Haha, spot on! The most famous son-in-law," one of the onlookers chimed in with a laugh.
Aileen flashed Shawn a triumphant smile, growing even more smug at the compliments from her fawning entourage. "See, Shawn? It's not just me; everyone thinks we're a perfect match.
"I heard your family is planning to launch a venture in Merilunia. Need my help? All it takes is a word from me to my family, and I guarantee you'll get the best possible partner."
Aileen figured all men cared about was career success. If she could bring him wealth, she'd surely earn his admiration. Too bad for her, while that might work on most guys, Shawn was the glaring exception.
"No need," Shawn said coldly.
Aileen's smile froze. If he wouldn't take her wealth, she'd just have to offer something else.
"I happen to know the ruler of Merilunia. If you're interested, I could introduce you and maybe even help you become the legendary warrior of Merilunia. Now, surely that's tempting, isn't it?" Aileen smirked.
Unexpectedly, Shawn's face turned icy. "I'm a Clusian, loyal to my country for life. I will never betray my homeland. Please watch your words. Do not insult the spirit of Clusia's soldiers."
Aileen thought angrily, 'Damn it! That totally backfired. No way am I giving up. If Shawn's completely immune, then I'll just have to target Zoe instead.'
"Someone seize that woman! Whoever slaps her a hundred times gets 33 million from me," Aileen declared, her arrogance on full display as she dropped a bombshell right from the start.
Lured by the bounty, many greedy people instantly reached out to attack Zoe, ignoring their status.
Shawn instinctively reached out to shield Zoe, but she stopped him with a glance. 'What a shame it would be to spoil such a fun show,' she thought.
"Go on! Smash her face!" Aileen barked viciously.
One of Aileen's lackeys shouted, "How dare she mess with Aileen! I'll beat her so badly that even her own mother won't recognize her!"
"That bitch deserves to get her ass kicked."
"Forget her. That 33 million is mine!"
These people had lost their minds. Even though they knew Zoe was no ordinary woman with powerful backers, they still dared to provoke her.
Just then, someone suddenly spoke up, "Aileen, calm down. She has powerful backers."
"Humph, what's there to be afraid of? It's just Tobias and the other two mutts," Aileen sneered coldly.
She went on disdainfully, "Those three might be somebody in your eyes, but to me, they're just mutts—pathetic lapdogs groveling at my family's feet."
Aileen couldn't care less about Tobias and his crew. She even publicly humiliated the trio. Luckily for them, they weren't there to hear it. Otherwise, with the way she was running her mouth, they'd have been absolutely fuming.
At Aileen's words, the crowd's fear vanished instantly. Since Aileen could handle those people, they knew they could act as they pleased. She would cover for them no matter what.
One of the crowd shouted, "Get her!"
"Hit her!" said someone else.
As the crowd charged at Zoe with fervor, she merely smirked coldly.
Zoe thought coldly, 'If they're begging for a beating, I'll grant their wish. Especially Aileen—if she's so obsessed with slapping, I'll let her get a taste of her own medicine.'
Without warning, Zoe struck. Her hands flew in a blur as she delivered stinging slaps to anyone within reach.
By the time those blocking her way were left dazed, Aileen suddenly realized Zoe was right in front of her—so close she could feel Zoe's breath. "W-What do you think you're doing?" Aileen stammered.
"You love slapping people so much, huh? Here's some for free," Zoe sneered and then slapped Aileen repeatedly.
