"Just to catch one damn girl, and we need this many men? Is she fucking mocking us?" Shane's laughter faded, his face darkening with anger.
Ryder's smile vanished. 'So we're actually being looked down on by some woman?' he thought angrily, his pride stung.
"Damn it! You there—strip that bitch naked and make her run through the streets!" Ryder, ever the schemer with a vicious grin, shoved one of his underlings forward, intent on publicly humiliating Zoe.
Shane wasn't one for scheming. He only cared about venting his anger. Whoever crossed him would be in for a brutal beating.
Shane glared at Zoe, his patience wearing thin. A woman who dared challenge all of them wasn't just arrogant; she was downright insane. "You there! Get over there and break both her legs!" he barked.
Ryder grabbed Shane's underling and snapped, "Break her legs? Who the hell would buy her then? Back off. This one's mine to handle."
Ryder wasn't about to let Shane ruin his precious "merchandise". That'd be a damn waste.
Shane smirked when he saw Ryder step up. "If you're handling this, I couldn't be happier. But don't even think about shortchanging me. I want every cent I'm owed," he added, his grin sharpening.
"Got it," Ryder sneered, settling back to enjoy the show.
The rest of the men snickered, eagerly waiting to see Zoe get stripped naked.
One of the thugs sneered, cracking his knuckles at Zoe. "Hey, babe, don't move, or you'll regret it when I get rough with you." He rubbed his hands together, clearly eager to cop a feel.
Zoe looked at the men coldly and smirked. "Come at me together, if you dare."
"Look, there she goes again," one of the thugs sneered.
One of Ryder's men sneered, "Does she really think she's Firefox, the Queen of Mercenaries? That she can take on over a hundred people single-handedly?"
One of the thugs sneered, "Damn fool! Just wait. She's about to be humiliated in front of everyone."
One of the thugs sneered, "Man, I can already see her on her knees begging for mercy."
The thugs snickered and jeered among themselves, all writing Zoe off. With those slender arms and legs, she hardly looked like she could pack any real punch.
Zoe stood her ground, waiting for the man to make his move.
Shawn stood silently on the sidelines, just watching. He held back because he knew Zoe had her own plan. But the moment she showed any sign of struggle, he'd charge in without a second thought.
'No one lays a hand on my woman,' he thought fiercely.
"Come here, babe. Let me give you a hug," the man leered, spreading his arms wide for a rough embrace.
All the guys couldn't help but feel a little envious. Sure, this woman had a bit of an attitude, but with her delicate, porcelain-doll looks, they just knew she'd feel incredible to touch.
