Zoe took a quick shower, dried her clothes in a flash, and headed out to find Shawn.
Shawn arrived at his room and settled in, waiting for Zoe to come by.
Zoe took the elevator straight to the 16th floor. Remembering Shawn's room number—1606—she quickly located the door.
After double-checking the room number, Zoe knocked, but no one answered.
'Is he not in there? Or did something happen?' Zoe wondered, frowning. Just then, she spotted a staff member passing by and called out to stop him.
"The gentleman said he stepped out to grab something and asked you to wait in the room," the staff member said, handing Zoe the key card.
Zoe frowned. 'Even if Shawn went out, he should've called to let me know,' she thought. But then she shrugged it off. 'Whatever. Since I have the key, I'll just go in and wait.'
She unlocked the door, stepped inside, and waited for Shawn to return.
At the same time, Shawn waited in his room for Zoe to show up, but after what felt like ages, there was still no knock at the door. 'Maybe she fell asleep and isn't coming after all,' he pondered.
Shawn pulled out his phone to call Zoe, but he hesitated and put it away. 'Too late to bother her now,' he thought.
Just as Shawn was about to turn in, the lights suddenly went out. Before he could react, the door creaked open and a shadowy figure slipped inside.
Shawn instinctively went on high alert, but he relaxed as soon as he caught that familiar scent in the air. It was Zoe's signature fragrance.
'I'm so clever,' Aileen thought smugly. She'd had a master perfumer recreate Zoe's signature scent. Now, wearing it, she smelled just like Zoe.
"Why did you just walk in like that?" Shawn asked, surprised.
"Couldn't wait to see you." There came Zoe's clear voice, instantly putting his mind at ease.
It turned out that Aileen had mastered voice mimicry. She could effortlessly imitate anyone's voice.
To ensure Shawn wouldn't realize she wasn't Zoe, Aileen obsessed over every detail—from her walking posture and scent to her voice, matching Zoe's hairstyle and clothes down to the last thread.
With such flawless imitation, not only would Shawn fail to notice anything amiss, but even Zoe herself might have to do a double take if she walked in.
"I brought a bottle of wine. Care for a drink?" Aileen swayed the bottle and glasses suggestively.
"Mm," Shawn responded, his tone casual.
In the darkness, neither could clearly see the other, yet the sexual tension between them kept rising.
Shawn seemed to understand why Zoe had turned off the lights. If this was her come-on, he wasn't about to refuse.
Zoe was the woman he'd chosen to be his wife. Whether they ended up together sooner or later didn't matter; there would never be another woman for him.
Aileen poured the red wine into the spiked glass and handed it to Shawn. Then she poured herself a glass as well.
"Here's to a beautiful night—cheers!" Aileen, in perfect imitation of Zoe's voice and mannerisms, raised her glass to Shawn.
Not suspecting a thing, Shawn clinked glasses with the woman across from him and downed the spiked drink in one go.
When Aileen saw Shawn drain his glass, a triumphant grin spread across her face. 'Tonight, he's mine,' she thought.
The moment Shawn downed the spiked wine, he knew something was off. Almost instantly, a searing heat began to spread through his body, growing hotter by the second.
He immediately realized something was terribly wrong, but the drug was extremely potent. And the red wine only intensified its effects, making them multiply exponentially.
After watching Shawn clutch his head in a daze, Aileen stepped forward with feigned concern and said softly, "Are you feeling a bit warm? Let me help you take off your jacket to cool off."
Her plan was to get Shawn into bed tonight. Once they'd slept together, he'd be bound to her whether he liked it or not.
