In other words, Shawn wanted to wait until their wedding night to make love to Zoe. This was his way of showing her the utmost respect.
Zoe felt a whirlwind of emotions. She had once been abandoned by her family—a homeless, pitiful wretch who had thrown her dignity to the winds just to survive.
When she finally gained real power and control, her dignity was something she reclaimed through sheer strength.
But only Shawn was different. His respect felt genuine, not because of my status, but simply because he cared.
A sudden warmth surged through Zoe's veins, melting the ice that had encased her heart. "That's all I needed to hear."
Zoe's voice carried a tenderness she hadn't even realized was there. She leaned in, kissing Shawn deeply as she slipped off his robe. What followed felt as natural as breathing.
In that moment, it no longer mattered who made the first move. What truly mattered was that Zoe felt her heart, which had been adrift for years, had finally found its anchor.
In that moment when she and Shawn became truly one, she felt, for the first time, that she finally had a place where she belonged at last.
Aileen had been waiting in the room for nearly half an hour, but the men she had hired still hadn't arrived.
'If this keeps up, Shawn's going to be ruined for good,' Aileen thought anxiously.
The drug dealer had warned her. The stuff was insanely potent. Even a tiny dose would be too much for most people.
Worried that Shawn might be too strong and immune to it, Aileen went all in and dumped the entire packet.
Aileen thought anxiously, 'Is the drug not strong enough, or is it completely ineffective on Shawn? Or did I get counterfeit drugs?'
With this in mind, Aileen grabbed her phone and called the drug dealer.
Aileen snapped, "What have you done? I told you money was no issue. Why the hell did you give me fake drugs?"
"Fake drugs? No way, Ms. Carleton. The stuff I gave you is absolutely legit," he said.
Aileen snapped, "Didn't you say that after taking this drug, men would go wild, desperately seeking women? But after he took it, he not only threw me out, he locked himself in. He still hasn't come out."
Upon hearing this, the dealer instantly panicked. "Oh shit. We're screwed."
Aileen's heart sank. "What do you mean?"
He explained, "Ms. Carleton, I totally forgot to warn you. This drug has a nasty side effect.
"If the guy doesn't sleep with a woman soon after taking it, he could suffer serious mental damage. Worst case scenario? He might end up a complete fool."
"What the hell? Why didn't you tell me sooner?" Aileen snapped, her voice shaking with fury and panic.
'If Shawn turns into an idiot and Clusia finds out the truth, there's no way I'll be able to get away with it,' Aileen thought, panic rising in her chest.
Aileen shrieked, "So what the hell am I supposed to do now?"
"Find him and have sex with him. Maybe that'll save him," the dealer urged.
Aileen was at her wits' end. She thought, 'How can I accept this? The man I love turns into a fool before I even make love to him.'
Just then, there was a sharp knock at the door. Aileen flung the door open. The people she'd been waiting for had finally arrived.
"Break down the door now." Aileen couldn't wait any longer; she had to rescue Shawn.
Actually, calling it a rescue was a stretch. What she really craved was his body.
A group of hulking bodyguards moved in unison toward Shawn's door, ready to force their way in.
Aileen waited anxiously nearby, determined to be the first to rush in and find Shawn.
'No matter what,' she thought, 'I can't let him be finished off—at least not until I've had sex with him.'
CRASH. The door finally gave way under the axe's brutal blows.
Aileen was the first to rush inside , only to find the room completely deserted—not a soul in sight. The only thing left was the window, standing wide open.
Aileen surveyed the disheveled room, her nostrils flaring at the telltale musky scent that hung heavily in the air. Just then, her phone rang abruptly. "Ms. Carleton. Emergency. Shawn's leaving the hotel with a woman right now."
