Shawn wondered, 'What a waste of time reading all this nonsense.' He turned off his phone and stormed back to his room, fuming.
'Could it really be that my performance was that bad?' Shawn wondered. 'But how does one even improve in that department?'
Just then, Zoe sneezed. If she'd known her coldness would trigger a series of negative thoughts in Shawn, leading him further astray, she never would have treated him like this.
But when it came to love, Zoe was just as clueless. She'd never been in a relationship before. Totally inexperienced, she probably wouldn't even recognize love if it hit her in the face.
At least when facing Shawn, she hadn't forgotten her original vow. She would kill him. However, lately, she found herself increasingly reluctant to kill him.
But she honestly couldn't tell if it was because of who he was or because of her feelings.
She couldn't be bothered to figure it out. Feelings were such a hassle; it was better not to think about them. If she didn't think about it, it might as well not exist.
Zoe stepped out of the car, removed her sunglasses, and gazed up at the towering 35-story skyscraper.
The Wadden Group, ranked among the top three in all of Merilunia, was not affiliated with Merilunia. It was a truly global multinational powerhouse. The real power behind it is none other than Zoe herself.
Wadden Group was a global conglomerate with subsidiaries in over 20 countries worldwide. This wasn't something just anyone could achieve. It took not only vast wealth but also formidable influence.
Aside from Eminence Nexus, the Wadden Group stood as Zoe's second most formidable stronghold. Her subsidiaries in every country wield not just wealth, but immense power.
In the business world, the mere mention of Wadden Group commanded instant awe. Because it had the world's most formidable backing, ten mountains of gold.
It was not an exaggeration. It was the literal truth. Wadden Group's rise to prominence was built on these ten mountains of gold.
Zoe had an uncanny knack for spotting valuable mineral deposits.
When she needed a formidable business powerhouse that could serve as a ready alternative to Eminence Nexus, she decided to venture into commerce.
With her keen business acumen, she discovered ten gold mines. She acquired them at rock-bottom prices, and after mining the gold, reinvested every cent she earned.
That was how she steadily built Wadden Group, her empire. At first, it was just a one-woman show. Zoe was both the founder and the sole employee.
As she gradually built up the company, it began to attract like-minded individuals to join her.
Over the years, Wadden Group had grown like wildfire, unstoppable and relentless. Now, its influence nearly rivals that of Eminence Nexus, standing shoulder to shoulder with the global powerhouse.
Zoe strode through the grand entrance of Wadden Group's headquarters.
But just as she stepped forward, two uniformed security guards blocked her path. "Miss, this is private property. Please leave immediately."
Zoe replied calmly, "I'm here to see someone."
"We don't let just anyone in here. You'd better leave right away," he said.
Seeing that the two security guards adamantly blocked her way, Zoe had no choice but to call the CEO, Terry Davis, directly.
In mere moments, Terry dashed out of the elevator, so frantic that he lost a shoe. "Ms. Evans, you've finally graced us with your presence. It's been two years without a word from you."
The two security guards stood frozen, jaws practically hitting the floor.
'Oh my, the girl we just stopped is actually the Chairwoman of Wadden Group? Is it even possible for someone so young to be the chair?' they wondered.
"Ms. Evans, please come in. Everyone is waiting for you inside," Terry said.
Zoe cast a composed glance at the two security guards. The guards instantly dropped their heads in terror. "We apologize, Ms. Evans. We were wrong," they stammered.
