Francis strutted proudly as the crowd followed. He thought, 'Perfect. Once I deliver them, Mr. Chandler will acknowledge me. And he will definitely promote me.'
Zoe and Shawn followed Francis without resistance. They went straight to Dimitri's private suite. It was reserved for him whether he came or not.
When Francis spotted two of Dimitri's guards outside the suite, he hustled over and said, "Please inform Mr. Chandler that I've caught two fools pretending to be his guests. When he's pleased, I'll give you whatever I can."
Francis knew how to play the game, so the guards agreed to help him. One of them stepped inside to deliver the message, and he came out in no time.
"How did it go?" Francis asked eagerly.
Without a word, the guard pushed open the door. Someone inside said in a languid yet commanding voice, "Get in here."
Francis grinned in satisfaction. Then he barked at Zoe and Shawn, "You heard the man. Just get inside."
Zoe and Shawn stepped into the private suite together. Francis followed behind and said, "Mr. Chandler, I've caught these two idiots for you. What do you want to do?"
As there was no reply, Francis wondered about the reason. He craned his neck and became angry. He shouted, "Howard, why are you here?"
Howard scoffed and replied, "Disappointed? Do you think Mr. Chandler meets every stray his underlings drag in?"
"Howard! I must see Mr. Chandler. I earned this." Francis was furious. He couldn't bear losing his only chance to prove himself.
As they were arguing, Zoe said coldly, "Let Dimitri out." Both Francis and Howard turned to stare at her.
Francis jabbed a finger at Zoe and declared, "See? This is the liar who dared disrespect Mr. Chandler. I must see him."
"What did she do?" Howard asked curiously.
Francis replied, "She claimed them to be Mr. Chandler's guests. Isn't that enough?"
Howard sized Zoe and Shawn up and down. He said, "I've certainly never heard of Mr. Chandler hosting guests here."
Francis said smugly, "I knew they were liars. Howard, this is my credit to claim. I must see Mr. Chandler myself."
Howard chuckled and said, "Do you think I need to steal credit from you? Just deal with them yourself. If you bothered Mr. Chandler over this trash, you'd be dead before sunrise."
At those words, Francis was furious. He shouted, "It's up to me. Just let me see Mr. Chandler. I'll bring it to him myself."
Seeing Howard remain silent, Francis smirked. He continued, "I get it. You're afraid that I'll replace you. Face it, you've been failing at everything lately. You're probably the last person Mr. Chandler wants to see."
Howard instantly flew into a rage and shouted, "Try saying that again."
Francis replied, "Hit me if you dare."
Howard couldn't lay a finger on Francis, but he could hit Zoe and Shawn. He shouted, "You'll regret that."
Without warning, Howard threw a punch straight at Shawn's face. No one expected him to strike so suddenly, but Shawn was hardly an easy target.
Shawn sidestepped his punch and caught his fist directly. With barely any effort, there was a crack, and Shawn dislocated Howard's wrist.
Howard's face contorted in pain. He shouted, "You bastard."
Seeing it, Francis froze for a second. Then he laughed and said, "Look at you."
Howard's face darkened. He said, "Some trash you caught could touch me? That was just a lucky hit."
Then he jerked his wrist back into place with a sickening pop. He flexed his fingers, glaring at Zoe and Shawn. He said, "I've underestimated you. But since you know how to fight, let's do this properly."
As Howard got serious, those who knew him buzzed with excitement, eager to see what would unfold.
"Howard's mad now. They're done."
"You're right. They're screwed."
"Howard has killed many people. Let's see how he will deal with them."
Hearing the words, a defiant surge rushed through Francis. Howard had always held him back. Now that Howard had embarrassed himself, there was no way he'd let Howard steal the spotlight again.
He sneered and said, "Howard, those two are way out of your league. If I were you, I'd just back down and accept it. You don't have a chance with them."
Howard glared at Francis. Francis was the one who brought them here. He knew if he couldn't defeat those two, it would prove he was inferior to Francis, and that would be unbearable. No matter what it took, he was determined to win.
He said, "You know how to piss me off. Today, I won't just beat them. I'll break them so badly they'll forget which way is up."
Then he turned to Shawn and said, "You first."
Zoe stepped right in front of Shawn and said firmly, "No, I'll handle this."
The crowd burst into mocking laughter.
"Is she out of her mind?"
"She thinks she can take on Howard? Let's look forward to it."
"I've never seen Howard lose. She must be tired of living."
With whispers buzzing through the crowd, Francis grew increasingly uneasy. He thought, 'No way I'm letting Howard redeem himself.'
Then he shouted to Zoe, "Why are you butting in? Let your man do it. If he can't even protect you, that's pathetic."
Zoe ignored the chatter, her gaze locked on Howard. She thought, 'No one can lay a finger on Shawn.' Knowing what she was thinking, Shawn didn't move.
Howard's face darkened instantly when he saw the crowd treating the idea of a woman challenging him as a joke. He sneered and said, "I don't fight with women. Send out the man behind you."
Zoe replied, "If you can't even beat me, you'll never touch him."
Howard sneered. He said, "Are you serious? You're so arrogant."
"Let's make it quick." Zoe's smirk vanished, and her eyes were cold.
She was furious that Dimitri didn't show up at all. Considering her status, no one dared to keep her waiting so long. She wanted to beat up his lackey until he had no choice.
Seeing Zoe's disregard for him, Howard finally snapped. He shouted, "Since you're begging for death, I'll gladly oblige."
With that, Howard sprang into action, his fist surging toward Zoe. Zoe sidestepped and effortlessly sprang into the air.
Her leap matched Howard's and even surpassed it. Feeling himself dropping as Zoe leaped up, Howard instantly snapped a powerful kick.
Zoe had anticipated that. With perfect timing, she drove her fist down and smashed directly into Howard's knee, leading to a heavy thud.
