As the young man's leg swept toward her, Zoe blocked it effortlessly with her forearm. The instant his shin collided with her arm, he thought it was like kicking a steel plate. If Zoe hadn't softened the blow, his leg would have been done for.
This time, he truly admitted defeat—completely convinced and utterly outmatched.
The crowd was confused. Someone shouted, "Who won?"
"Why did you stop?"
"Get on with it!"
"Fight! Take her down!"
The crowd kept chanting, urging the young man to fight again. As they expected, he clenched his fists and marched toward Zoe.
Zoe watched him, her expression calm and composed. Just as the crowd braced themselves for another fierce showdown, the young man suddenly knelt down with a heavy thud.
The crowd gaped in disbelief, jaws dropping at the sight.
"What the hell? He's kneeling?"
"Get up and fight!"
"Man up! How can you yield to a woman?"
Amid the crowd's jeers and shouts, the young man squared his shoulders with sudden resolve.
"Master," he uttered—the word itself marking both his surrender and his full acknowledgment of Zoe as his rightful master.
The club owner and the crowd were utterly disappointed. They had thought he was some hotshot, but it turned out he was all bark and no bite—just putting on a big show that ended up being a complete joke.
Zoe bent down and pulled him up. "What's your name?" she asked.
"I don't remember," the young man replied. He'd been sold into this place as a child. If he hadn't fought tooth and nail to survive, he wouldn't be alive today.
Zoe eyed the young man. "You'll be called Diablo."
Diablo—the perfect name for a man who laughed in the face of death.
Diablo fell in step behind Zoe and Shawn as they left the underground fight club, ready to hunt down the fugitive who had slipped away.
After listening to Zoe and Shawn's conversation, he said, "Leave this to me. I've seen the target before—I'll bring him back alive."
Zoe looked at Shawn, and he nodded.
It was a good thing that someone else could help them with the job. Now they could focus entirely on taking down the Underground Kingdom.
The underground auction kicked off right on schedule.
Zoe walked arm in arm with Shawn as they approached the entrance to the underground auction.
"Sir, Madam, your invitation please?" the attendant said with practiced courtesy.
Shawn produced the invitation, and after verification by the attendant, they were ushered inside.
All attendees of the underground auction were elite figures. But in a den of crime like this, no one wished to reveal their true identity, so every entrant was permitted to conceal themselves.
Led by an attendant, they stepped into a room stocked with black cloaks, masks, and all manner of disguise kits—everything needed to conceal one's identity.
Zoe and Shawn lingered inside for a while. When they finally emerged, both were cloaked in hooded black garments that completely obscured their features.
Zoe turned to Shawn and said, "We're here to destroy the whole place. Got an exit strategy?"
"Exit plans are for the weak," Shawn said.
Zoe smiled. Shawn was right about that. With him and Zoe working together, taking down the Underground Kingdom would be nothing—they could wipe out an entire country in the blink of an eye.
The two blended into the crowd of guests as they entered the auction arena.
The colossal arena, once echoing with the clamor of gladiatorial combat, had now been transformed into an auction venue. In the vast circular pit below, the auctioneer's team had already arranged the lots for bidding.
Zoe and Shawn casually found seats and sat down, while the excited crowd crowded against the railings, craning their necks to look down at the auction floor below.
Shawn muttered, his voice laced with contempt, "Didn't expect this many vultures at the auction."
Zoe said coolly, "Every person here stands for a dirty deal. This place is hell itself—nothing would surprise me."
"But this is where it all ends," Shawn said.
Zoe's eyes gleamed with sudden understanding—Shawn had already laid all the groundwork.
Today, they would raise some real hell.
